  1. I use Electro South West Ltd in Bridgwater. They do not mind selling you a quantity of 1 or 2 of a nut or bolt and don't charge you the earth for the privilege.
  2. As I did not take enough photos in the strip down, asking where the rear door rain shredders go? Do you put the bottom lip behind the flange or in front? Trying to figure this out before derusting and painting them
  3. Mick, is there anybody local who can help you? I started with zero confidence and through help from people I met on the forum did this job together as one of my first tasks on my 110. From then on it has been a downward slippery slope as I am now rebuilding her chassis up.
  4. You can get the workshop manual off amazon in the USA. See snapshot below.
  5. Have a look on ebay first. I bought my pre td5 heated glass and high-level brake light from SP4x4 off ebay as it was cheaper than off their website, even before adding carriage to their website price. The same is true for their door window glass channel kits. Not sure why their website is more expensive than ebay?
  6. Finish my 110 rebuild which is now going into its 10th year.
  7. For my 200 tdi I bought a draper beam one and the measurements started at 10 nm and went up in big lumps. So ended up buying a dial torque wrench off ebay which was ex RAF which goes up to 50 nm and has increments of 1nm. I know this does not help you, but might point you in the direction of what to buy.
  8. The bond of the frame to the skin was mostly broken I used a stanely knife to cut what remained.
  9. With the bonnet, if you remove the rivets you can then slide the skin off after bending the skin away from where it butt's up to the frame. Pictures here of my frame in primer after grit blasting and the skin.
  10. I am the process of putting back together my 110 after 9 years and can't find pictures of where I plug the reverse light loom in. It is the wiring loom from the back of the gearbox. The gearbox side is sorted, it is where do the two bullet connectors go on the other end?
  11. That looks like the spacer on the alternator that I have on my 1989 110. It goes between the front of the engine and arm that goes to the alternator. The part number is ERC7974
  12. Thanks for the replies. In the later defenders which did have central locking, where dis the wiring go?
  13. I have a 1989 110 which had central locking added to it. When I took her apart 9 years ago I did not document where the wiring went. Does it go in the cab and down the B pillar, or along the sills and up the pillar?
  14. Western thanks. I think I figured it out. I have my fishing scales for doing the pivot arm on the front axle and think it is hook sharpener that was in my fishing equipment that has got mixed up with my landy's. I have not fished for the last 9 years as playing trying to rebuild the landy which will explain why I have not missed it.
  15. I have this part in my bag of bits for the dash for my 1989 110. What is it and where does it go? Thanks
  16. Tapped a 6mm nut to 3mm and then had this welded to the arm. Bicycle trunnion arm on. Hopefully this will do .
  17. When I had my roof tent on the 110 I had 3 roof bars. This stops rocking of the tent on very bump roads and over stressing the attachment points of the bars if only 2 fitted.
  18. For those that are interested, I spent some time doing internet searches today and come up with RTC 5978 HEATER CABLE TRUNION - DEFENDER 1987-2006. Instead of spending my hard earned cash on these are am trying the 6MM cable trunnions off ebay.
  19. Stephen, thanks. Has anybody got an idea of you can get replacements for the clips that hold on the arms?
  20. Do you think I could get away with using a 6mm bike cable barrel? Or does it need to be bigger?
  21. When taking off the control arms off a 1989 110 heater to refurbish it I broke one of the bits where the end of the cable goes and bent the other. Looking in the parts book I can't find them so was looking for a suggestion as to how to bodge a fix.
  22. SP 4x4 are now making cat flaps. https://www.sp-4x4.com/product_p/320652.htm Not sure what import duty will be like to the USA?
  23. I used a thin pointed punch and hammered it in off center on the shear heads to create a dimple. I then used the punch and hammer to unscrew it using the dimple that I had created. Took some time but worked.
  24. Not sure if you can see on the photo, but with a help of a torch I confirmed there is a V plate in there.
