  1. I dont think i will be spanking £34k and more on it, but it seems like an interesting product, just nto one for me!
  2. Can i ask why you would want to remove the air con, surely on an overland trip it would be useful?
  3. TD5 is great for towing however you need to consider several things. The gearing on a defender is lower than a disco, (disco has 1.22 t-box and defender has 1.4) this may be good or bad depending on the weight/distance/roads you travel. A 110 is probably more suited to heavy towing as its a more stable platform than a 90, although it will do a good job i'd be inclinded to conisder the longer wheelbase for better stability. Heaters are not particually great on TD5's, they work but its still a landrover heater. Seats are comfortable and heated ones are great, soundproofing isnt super but i did 20K/yr on motorways and 6K offroad in mine every year and it was good and comfortable. People complain about lack of elbow room and i have no idea what the problem is, i'm 6'1" with long arms and never had a problem! 8K - small budget, you can get one but itll be an earlyish one so watch out for the usual problems with oil in loom and such likes but generally they are very reliable engines. Have you considered a TD5 disco instead?
  4. I'm sure i've seen that car before, did you ever turn up to matchams playdays (perhaps rather late with breakages and problems??)
  5. Likewise, altho its a bit north for me i'm well up for this type of comp when the D-Lander is ready (it at least exists unlike some vapour builds )
  6. Would be interesting to have Terrafirma come on and give their side of the story and "defend" their actions.
  7. Whilst it might make the hoop slightly weaker in design it is proven, and more importantly it takes the main loading straight onto thje chassis plates rather than an outrigger which would be needed for a straight hoop, and significantly weaker than a main chassis mount.
  8. As with products that have been copied in the past i shall continue to support those who designed them, this includes products like Si's X-Brake and Gwyns suspension mounts.
  9. The TD5 wiring diagrams fill an A4 lever arch file....i have mine printed in colour!!
  10. Ive done one too (not into a 90 tho) so if you need any advice just shout.
  11. I was wondering when you would see this Si, i thought you might have an idea for a solution
  12. Whilst the cable is a problem a bigger one is simply fitting and nicely mounting the lever. As you can see in the photo imagine where ones arm is when sitting, the space between the hi-lo and it being un-usably far back isnt much hence wanting an alternative solution... EDIT: Unless of course i remove the auto, sell it and the compushift and return it to a manual as originally intended???
  13. I dont know.....you tell me?? I thought it was a mechanical process of selecting the park/drive/reverse etc??
  14. The worst thing is it kinda looks bad or IRB and BAS as their first production setup is being pimped about by a bloke who is swearing about everyone and being generally offensive.
  15. Thing is i still have to engage park, drive and reverse as a minumum manually.
  16. Wow - this just degenerated into a slagging match, doesnt make anyone look good and isnt great for the forum. Also why the willy waving about a truck cab Vs. a CSW XS, i'm sure there are people on here with bags of money and some with sod all, but does it really matter???
  17. Looks like an amazing day, great scenery and some good tracks offroad.
  18. Had an email from xtrac and they only fit things like tht to their own transmission - he did recommend that i try proshift though who look interesting.
  19. Possibly, it would certainly be easier, however i looked at customising the TD5 shifter and its all plastic and crappy so it would mean making one from scratch possibly????
  20. Interesting stuff, thanks Jon - do you think it could be coupled to an actuator as well?
  21. Do you wire them into the power feed, or are they used in the control lines for the winches?
  22. Looks to be pretty much what i am after but $995 is a lot of money especially with the poor exchange rate
