  1. The one downside of the idiot driving the other car being so mashed up is we have to pay for his repairs in hospital and its surgeons like my opther half who will have spent half the night putting said nobber back together and looking after him because its their job, usually at expense of other patients and also their families (I've lost count of the times she is late back cos of emergencies).
  2. The VNT/VGT produced by Bell & IRB is a bolt on though - however i believe its been a long time in developement and so all the hard work has been doen by the time we get to fit one
  3. No internal engine mods afaik - its the turbo, intercooler and custom mapping along with exhause, egr and hoses. As for the DIN question - look at the printout, correction is 0.975 and DIN power is 202.8 HP
  4. Eew, and as for the specs and info, full or errors and BS.
  5. From the sound of the damage youll not get her back - if its that bad then itll be CAT A or B, so not somthing youll see again. Make sure you push hard for the full value of the vehicle as it was at the time of accident. Best of luck with it, and i hope you recover fully soon.
  6. I would have thought with this being a cross-over event, neither a challenge nor a comp safari it would have cross-over regs specifically designed??
  7. Hmm, Galling huh, i had several names for it earlier and that wasnt one of them
  8. I've adjusted the tool slightly, got the tap out and found my copper grease....no siezed bolts this afternoon thankfully
  9. Heres one for all you electro-mechanical guru's. Is it possible to replace the standard auto gearbox selector with a linear actuator and some sort of rotary switch arrangement? The reason is i need a selector for the d-lander but dont really have room, because of cable lengths and other stuff it would end up in a less than ideal position so im looking for alternatives and thought replacing the cable with a linear actuator, and controlling it via (a circuit?) and a rotary or even linear slide switch would be a much neater and really cool solution. So, is it possible, how, and does anyone want to help me make it work??
  10. Cheers guys, i shall get out the copper grease, run a tap down them first and check the tool setting, i know they are dust free as they are coming out the box but will even blow them through first to make sure
  11. I normally do but i thought for a 20 second fit whilst i drilled another hole it would be ok...how wrong i was!
  12. I'm working on the D-Lander using lots of fittings however im having particular problems with my steel rivnuts (fitted with proper rivnut tool) and the stainless steel button head bolts. Even when screwed in by hand, 50% of them sieze solid - one managed this after just 30 seconds it was stuck so hard i sheared it off trying to remove it. WHY do they keep doing this, steel+stainless are compatible, im not putting them in tight, or cross threaded but they still sieze solid. HELP!
  13. Mmm V8 diesel I'm also curious as to why you didnt opt for the normal auto box from the TDV8?
  14. None of my TD5's were supplied with wading plugs, nor ever had any fitted/removed.
  15. Dammit, i knew i'd make a typo somewhere and there is always one who notices
  16. Thanks for all the PM's - see you tomorrow (i'll be the one in the black Audi A3!)
  17. Gents - does anyone have an address & directions for the site tomorow??
  18. The blokes a total Pollock! Who is this Laura croft he talks of??
  19. ...When writing adverts! Oh dear, this is a prime example of lack of knowledge coupled with illiteracy. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/897322.htm 110 TDSi - What's one of them, shouldnt it be a TD5 or possibly a ROW Tdi Country spec - surely thats County spec vechale, vechile, vechel - I think it should be Vehicle The list goes on, i particually love the "removable tent" - i think thats the canvas, and alto the 11 Ton winch!! Full of spelling errors, full of rubbish
  20. For a pretty cheap, but excellently made option look at Axminster tools, i use mine all the time and its fantastic.
  21. Ive got a 24V Bosch and its amazing, comes with 2 batteries and despite drilling walls & screws at home and being used in the workshop its still on the first charge of the first battery....bags of torque too, it "bit" with a 10mm drill earlier in some steel and nearly took my arm off!
  22. Tony - are you going to wellington on sunday, you can have the guage off my bust one if you like?
  23. Sounds painful, hope you recover soon I had an accident working on the d-lander the other day, the new floor panel (3mm thick cheq plate...and large) sprung down into place trapping my thumb against the edge of the chassis, this caused extreme pain but most of all when trying to pull it free complete panic as i realised that actually i couldnt move, i didnt have my phone on me, i couldnt reach any tools to lever it up and was well out of shouting distance..... It took a few (painful) mins but i managed to get my other hand under one edge and lever it up releasing one crushed and bleeding thumb, all good fun!
