  1. Superb, thank you very much
  2. My first thought would be the turbo blowing oil back into the housing, but im not even sure iof its possible. Otherwise is there a crank case breather running to it?? (sorry, only got a non-standard TD5, so canna look at one to check!)
  3. Typically im sitting here working on some design stuff for the d-lander (joys of being redundant i guess) and i forgot to take a measurement betweeen the chassis rails. The chassis in use is a Range Rover Classic (so same as disco 1 and presumably same dims between rails as them all) Can anyone help with a quick dim check, thanks.
  4. I'm ashamed to say i dont even know when it is this year! But i do normally make it up for this show so i shall turn up landyless again no doubt!
  5. I had the exact symptoms from a failed pump on one i borrowed! Definatly recommend cleaning or better still, replacing the harness first because if it has the oil problem it needs doing regardless
  6. In tank fuel pump failure produces exactly these symptoms, if you have no luck wiht the injector loom then my money is definately on this.
  7. I shall be looking to join a local club just as soon as the d-lander is ready!
  8. I know - hello Richard! Technically they say any chassis mods require SVA's but like you said yours was checked and ok'd. Mine is totally different tho as i dont have a donor disco like yours did and mine uses a brand new chassis etc and doest exist on any database and never has!
  9. Run one of the online scanners such as that from Kaspersky (excellent software)...also consider getting somthing like Lavasoft adaware and running that to see if it picks up any malware carp.
  10. I'd love t come along but sold my 90 and the D-Lander isnt quite finished yet.....when it is tho im definately up for it
  11. Tow bar is fine for the rear. Get some jate rings for the front or a bumper with suitible recovery eyes.
  12. I guess the thing to watch when laying the course and chosing sites it to ensure that they can't be completed in a standard car/rally car to prevent it become too much like a comp safari/rally.
  13. Photos look good, i hope to be competing soon.
  14. Its a pressure reducing valve - take your pick on if you want it there or not but you may find it is required as you lock the rear wheels too much without.
  15. Would running the line from the top of the drum instead of the bottom cause any long (or short) term problems with the winch??
  16. Yes they both have stands at the major shows however you might not find the configuration you want on display so its problably best to try and find someone local who has one and is willing to show you it - either through here or through the suppliers themselves.
  17. Those cages on ebay are fine, they are sold as roll cages not safari cages and will certainly help in a roll over and provide protection upto a reasonable speed/force. Admittedly an internal is better or at least some bracing inside but any cage braced to the chassis is better than none at all. My money personally goes to Shaun at North offroad, always provided excellent service, very helpful chap using top quality tube and welding.
  18. I had mantec ones on my 110 a while back, they were like the simmonites ones and i fitted them internally, much better than external as you cant get hold to rip them off. I fitted them with security bolts, penny washers and twin nylocks to make sure there was no way of removing them from outside, even if they did take the glass out it was impossible to get in.
  19. They are fine in the UK, perfectly legal. Did they say what the problem was, or why you had to remove the high level lights?? Personally id put them back til next year then whip them off for the test!
  20. Look up your local BOC depot, there are probably several in herts.
  21. Dave has always been a pleasure to deal with so its no surprise to hear the excellent service you recieved.
  22. My truck cab cage was liftable by one strong person, or 2 normal people, so 75kg?? Dont forget not all of that is high up as the legs and diagonals run down. probably only 50% of the weight is above the COG, maybe 60% at a push so its really not a huge ammount, its the difference between driving with a full tank of fuel, or an empty one but at the top of the vehicle rather than the bottom if you get my drift!
  23. Obviously it adds weight up top and moves the COG however i never found it to be a problem, or even noticable.
  24. Yes, i typed higher instead of lower - however the ratios and info are correct
