The tubular was a prototype that I've been testing for the last year or so, the large bore cast one is of a similar shape but larger size & should be more resistant to warping & cracking than the stainless tubular manifold
-
I'm intrigued by the 100mm intake as I run a 76mm intake with all the mods you have & mine goes very well with little smoke, I currently have a tubular exhaust manifold that I'm changing to a large diameter cast manifold
-
out of curiosity do you have a dyno print out?
-
having watched your other videos it doesnt actually smoke as bad as you claim in my opinion, as per this video here, the cracking/poping you are getting is due to the MAF maxing out its airflow, ill post again in a bit

the british rocks have a different type of grip compared to the rocks at KOH, still very grippy given the right conditions, we were glad to have chosen sticky treps over the standard compound we had last year as i believe there was a notable difference on the rocks

ARB locker carriers, Cast iron/steel or billet?
RedLineMike replied to bill van snorkle's topic in International Forum
ive had my run with ARB's suitably peeved with them that even though they are all shiny & new, they will be coming out & being replaced with Ashcroft lockers, -
the spare TD5 i have in the shed, if i built another vehicle id consider an Ls, but at the moment the TD5 is staying put, we thrashed the tits of it at KOV, had no cooling issues, & it started everytime we hit the tit , we were running wide open with all the shift lights lit on several occasions, oil pressure was good, i genuinely cant complain, if anything id like a little more power put it so it needs some more fuel in the map, at the moment its running almost zero smoke

my td5 in the challenge truck ticks all those boxes

ARB locker carriers, Cast iron/steel or billet?
RedLineMike replied to bill van snorkle's topic in International Forum
Well luckily I didn't have that issue at kov, means I wasn't trying hard enough lol -
sorry bill, its a Td5 power tube framed buggy, based on a discovery 2, running 14" fox coilovers, D2 axles with ashcroft shafts n cvs with diffs built by Nige, tuning wise it has a vnt turbo, custom intake pipes, exhaust manifolds, exhaust system, remaped, water cooled charge cooler, with all the Alli work having been carried out by allisport, we did make it up the rock climb, it didnt feel that high inside the car, i think we did a 2hr 3 min lap then, & that was including having a wheel fall off also, found a video from the final obstical

maltese team had there accident on the road below one of the turbines, kinda hard to describe but if you looked from camp towards the quarry that borders the site, it was on the road below the north west turbine, big straight that narrows up & has a kicker in the road just as it narrows, i dont think anyone drove all the rock steps in the end,i believe a few drove the first step

we did pretty well considering, highest placed Landrover axled vehicle, 2nd placed diesel, & 5 of the 6 cars in front have raced King of the Hammers, although to be fair, after our trip to KOH earlyer in the year, the direction of mods did change when i came home, possibly highest placed delta tec drum also

Challenge truck gearbox choice V8
RedLineMike replied to ayresy's topic in Modified Vehicle Builds & Special Projects
cos the 2 pegs that drive the oilpump off the back of the torque converter are somewhat fragile at the best of times -
id personally cut the A bar off & call it good, puting the flatbar on edge as you intend to do wont actually add that much strength as you will be bending it in its easiest direction

defender td5 electrical problem
RedLineMike replied to muddy4x4xfar's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
whats the temp guage doing? sounds very much like you need to reset the crash switch, have you connectred the earth thats under the expansion bottle? -
I would strongly recommend not undoing the fuel filter & turning the ignition on as if the pump is working correctly you will make hell of a mess & spray fuel everywhere, remember the system runs at 4bar of pressure
