  1. if your stuck let me know as i have a D2 chassis loom on the shelf
  2. at the moment he doesnt need to do anything, the FIP he currently has will have the pipe connected to the turbo to the boost module on the pump, the electrical pot on the top of the throttle spindle is for the EGR system & simply tells the EGR controller where the throttle is,
  3. Have u checked the pumps plugged in?
  4. Clearly you haven't worked on a td5 before as the Injectors are inside the head & fed with an internal fuel rail, as above turn ignition on to position 2 & pump the throttle pedal 5 times to start the self purge sequence, do this 2 or 3 Times, also ensure the battery is fully charged before cranking over as td5s are fussy on battery voltage for starting
  5. running a diesel lean is what makes them more fuel economical than a petrol, unless you want more power leave it as it is its good to go
  6. td5's dont have a throttle butterfly, i have a boost guage on mine & its plumbed in beside the take off to the turbo wastegate
  7. was a good show i thought & spent most of the day chatting to people on the Allisport stand, Spoke to Nige & steve plus briefly spoke to Nick & Si at Xeng, didnt spend too much although nige now has a few diffs to do
  8. I had a good read through the sva/iva manual & couldn't find any reference to requiring a mech link, the only thing I did find was that in the case of full hydro steer that its up to the person presenting the vehicle for test to prove to the tester that its adequate, when I get home ill list the paragraphs etc as I've just got in the door from Koh
  9. i also have a VNT from BAS on my challenge truck, full boost from about 1800rpm till it stops reving, have ran one on a standard mapped car & even then it made a big differance in how much more drivable it was, add in a remap & intercooler & its becomes a very drivable grunty setup
  10. if you seal the holes on the rear of the td5 ecu that is a step in the right direction for waterprrofing it, also if you give the throttle pedal a spray of wd40 etc & same with the relays, it all helps, i have the ecu in the roof of my challenge truck & the throttle pedal is on top of the dash being driven by a cable from the pedal box, the only thing thats lower than chest height is the standard relays & fuse box which can be reasonably waterproofed in standard form, or swap out the relays to waterproof ones & pack the fuses with silicone grease
  11. but turbo technics wont sell it to you, you have to buy from BAS,
  12. yes, you need either a pair of exterior wing mirrors, OR an interior mirror & an offside mirror
  13. Have had a challenge buggy mot'ed that said on the pass cert "no doors fitted"
  14. I believe Allisport / BAS have the 200tdi defender VNT turbos availabe ready to ship, I have a large selection of Allisport products on my challenge truck along with the VNT turbo that was supplied by BAS, it could be described as a fortunate position of being involved in product development & testing for Allisport,
  15. the kits available from Allard / Allisport / BAS are boost controlled with the correct style of actuator & are rated for the correct flow for the engine i have a BAS Vnt on my TD5 & it took approx 2 hours to fit, all bolted on nice & jobs a good un
  16. or by the time you have bought the turbo & made a manifold & got it to fit, & then designed & made a system to control the turbo etc, surely it would be easier/cheaper to buy the correct vnt turbo for the job & go?
  17. yup, most Vw's that im aware of use vacumn to control the vanes on there turbos
  18. I'd like to see how you would control the vanes....
  19. Hi si, have you considered redstart design in chard, I know they have a large arsenal of cnc equipment & the service I have had from Neil & his team has been outstanding
  20. i just replaced the floor on my Indespension beaver tail, i used the proper trailer flooring with the grippy surface on the top side, once it was down on the chassis i went round all the edges & sealed it to the frame with a big bead of silicone that i spread/ pushed into the gaps on the cut edges
  21. the reason the comp safari boys use small tyres is due to the tyre list, the vast majority of tyres that are on the approved list are small sizes like 205/16 or 195/16, i whole heartily agree with steve, once you have driven a vehicle with big tyres on it & found how much easier it cross's the terrain, you wont want to go back to small sizes,
  22. Quite clearly you are correct if all you are intending to do is drive round tescos car park, for propper offroading bigger the better, I currently run 37"s & would gladdly go to 40s if I could justify the cost
  23. we fitted a 22" light bar above the screen on the buggy for the wooldrige trophy, very little glare through the screen, if you want i can post some in car video at night of the testing we did?
  24. i have a oil catch tank on my td5 challenge truck, my main reason for use is so if we are on our side or upside down it will reduce the oil ending up in the airbox
