Dave doesn't do X9 stuff anymore Speak to Dave Porter at Superwinch - but they are Slow and not cheap You will get the same prices and faster attention if you talk to Peter Lamb at First Four I re-build X9's to fit on clients vehicles - so much better than the bulk of what's out there - but I swap in new motors (TDS long or short armature jobbies). If you let me know which motor you want to re-build I may have a reasonable s/h one for funds to the forum

The 200 is always better on juice than a 300 when matched in a like for like vehicle - unless the 200 has something wrong with it or is tuned to hell and back (badly) My 200 RRC would give 40mpg on a steady 55mph run on good A roads and that was tweaked a tadge The D2 is a lardy old barge - although lovely to drive - and the engine has to work to make things progress. I also feel that the Auto-box is less than efficient. But if you want economy get a Skoda 1.6Tdi
  8. That was a 200Tdi manual and it was from JOG to LE. Driving for competitive or record breaking fuel mileage is fascinating - takes a lot of skill

I want to know more as if I could get that sort of figure it would cost me a damned site less to run my wife's car - I'm genuinely interested; I've spent the last ten years getting good fuel mileage from 200 and 300 Tdi's; Td5's are new territory to me as the last time I was playing with TD5 Disco's I was working for LRE and they paid for the juice
  10. IRB and Monster Tuning It's not tuned for big power, it's tuned for towing which has a knock on benefit for non motorway runs. Box goes into OD top at lower speed, which suits the new power curve better - much more responsive and low and medium rpm.
  11. I get 30+ out of my D2 Td5 but it's had it's auto-box re-mapped to match it's re-chip; and I drive steadily. The Wife can't get more than 28 form the same motor. I reckon I could get it up to about 33 on the motorway My 300Tdi Auto does 31+ on pretty much any journey My 200Tdi Manual has seen almost 40mpg but tends to be about 35 My Skoda Roomster Scout 1.6Tdi does about 63mpg when driven about as uneconomically as possible
  12. Eastern European Carwash is happy to do it for the normal £3.50 - job is always Spotty Dog and I get to point out any bits they miss. Four guys up to 30 minutes for £3.50 means that one day they will say 'no'; but then the Nigerian Car Wash or the Middle Eastern Car Wash will take it on for £4.00

  14. Is the vehicle lifted? The Rubber Doughnut is actually really good until the vehicle has more than 25mm or so of lift, then it becomes all bound up and self destructs. If you have no lift, then I would suggest replacing it with a god quality replacement If you do have a lift, you will need a 200tdi output flange and associated fitting gubbins and a 200tdi prop.   15. I fit those TG Thompson solenoids to every winch I fit - and have done for about two years. Got so I couldn't trust the Albright design for water ingress and more so for condensation. Never had a Thompson Solenoid go wrong and have fitted about 50 odd now
  16. I've yet to see VOSA pull someone for a receiver hitch - and I've spent a fair few hours watching them pull folk for just about everything else. The fines aren't big enough so they leave the small fry

Fulcrum Suspensions have a dealer about 55kms away from you at Lithgow; a company called Hicks Automotive Nolathane is just a brand name and using it as a generic is like saying a Dyson is the same as a 12 volt Dirt Devil because they are all Hoovers. Rubber isn't more forgiving if the polyurethane bush matches the elasticity of the rubber bush or even improve on it - which some polyurethane bush manufacturers do. It's easy to think that hard polyurethane used in race vehicles is the same as the bushes sold for GP and HD use; mainly because some manufacturers (like Deflex or Flotex do just that). SuperPro don't and they build excellent replacement bushes for all types of situations. That's why companies like Isuzu use them as service items or options from new. I've used them as an upgrade for over 10 years. Every vehicle I spec for my clients has SP bushes at the top of the list. Of the 100's of 1000's of miles those vehicles have done in Australia, South America, Africa and the Former USSR, I've had one bush fail, and that was down to the blessed bolt through the middle not the bush. Hard life is about 10 to 15 years if fitted properly
