  1. Is it cheaper? New sender. New pump. Hour to marry the two together, wire extension, and new hole for connector. I'm not convinced I have this right. How much is an external low pressure pump?
  2. Yes, I could. The complication is the twin tank set up. And getting the return to the tanks. I could use the LWB sender to an external pump. But if have to extend the sender tube. I do like the idea of in tank pumps, they are quiet and less obtrusive than external pumps. Your comment has me reconsidering my decision. Um.
  3. So far the plan is to extend the wires and JB weld the connector to the mount flange. It won't be pretty, but it will work.

  5. Unlike Britpart bolts.
  6. Oh yes, there is a thread.
  7. Be sure to update the Britpart thread.
  8. I'm trying to fit an in tank pump to a series lightweight. It's for fuel injection. I've a RRC low pressure pump and a LWB sender that I'm going to marry together. So getting the pump in is mostly fine. It's getting the power through the mounting flange I'm struggling with. The plan is to drill a hole and try to seal the wiring loom to the top of the flange some how. Space is tight, so I was wondering if there was a smarter, easier, better way? I don't think I'm good enough with the MIG to transplant the hole!
  9. Can you get genuine still?
  10. Silicone spray. Genuine seals.
  11. eBay will sell you small squares of 1.2 mm mild steel sheet. Not cheap, but if you are restricted by hours, it's an option.
  12. Wow! That would be a significant development.
  13. I'm afraid I agree. I'd love an electric motor on my series, plumbed into the transfer box. Full torque from zero revs. No need for a gearbox. No batteries and no option to recharge inside 10 minutes, so a non starter. C'mon science, we need batteries!
  14. If you want economy, you can buy a Toyota pious. Or get the bus.
  15. Does anyone have experience with the ACR hi flow stainless system? Roland does have a good reputation, I'm thinking the exhaust might be good value, even if more expensive.
  16. Genius. Thanks David. It's the extension tube for an underseat tank, ex-MoD. I've one in great condition, and one in fair condition which I'll try fix up. I think I will need them, as the underseat nature of the tank filler means they are more likely to get dirt and debris whilst filling. I love the strainer idea. Love it.
  17. Oh! Good source! I think the issue will be getting the gauze hot enough to take the solder, without burning it. Once I've the tanks themselves done, I'll have a go.
  18. The gauze on the extension tube on one of my tanks is damaged, it's ripped. I'd like to repair it, with new gauze, had anyone done this before? Any tips?
  19. If it's important, and isn't easy get at. Genuine. If it's crucial, and available, EAC or genuine.
  20. Superb! I loves a good engine build! Load up the pictures!
  21. Imagine how they feel when we refer to their BMW golf as "just another eurobox".
  22. 100% agree. It's subjective, no wrong answers. Except the 2286 diesel. Bloody awful engine. I know, not a defender engine, but was in the predecessor vehicles.
  23. Totally and utterly true. What is really frustrating is that the engineers were developing serious engines in the sixties and seventies, but the projects were cancelled so that the focus was on jet engines for rover saloons. They even had a direct injection turbo diesel under development.
  24. I think it ate it's own timing belt?
