  1. I have Saab 95 seats in the front of the 110... very comfortable, a little higher than standard 110 seats but no higher than my standard ones with seat risers if that makes sense? Hope that helps Mat
  2. Dan, I think you've actually lost your marbles... Lets see where this goes
  3. for the rear I changed from standard height HD to CSW progressive springs and there difference was amazing! RKB101111 This might help... or confuse you even more... but hey http://www.red90.ca/rovers/springinfo.html Mat
  4. Yes. In Bidford on Avon. I can't in all honesty say anything wrong about them or the wheels, apart from the offset wasn't, it turned out, to my liking. Thats just my opinion though, I'm sure there may have been other cases, but I have seen an increasing number of them on the road, so they can't all be bad. Why are you considering changing?
  5. No... I can testify they are indeed tubular all round... and I'm no welding expert but there was no pitting, spitting or cracks in the welds. One caveat, on paper the offset doesn't seem like much, but its quiet aggressive, and does leave the wheels a nice bit outside the standard arches.
  6. I had a set of the Steel ones and I couldn't say anything about the quality. They're powder coated, not painted, so there was some peeling around where the studs nipped, but apart from that they were great. The only reason I changed them was because of the offset, I would say that your estimate is correct. They are definitely further out than standard steel wheels or boost alloys. I changed them as I was toning down the overall look of the 110, but I'd have no problem putting them back on. Hope that helps Mat
  7. Also, be wary of the plastic connector on the end of the speedo drive cable, its almost impossible to see properly and there is a knack to getting it out. It won't twist off, there are two push tabs either side, squeeze these together towards the cable, and I'd found that pushing the cable in towards the speedo (the opposite way you want it to go) while squeezing these tabs, and then pulling it out makes it a lot easier. I tried to find a pic online but they're all rubbish. Hope that helps Mat
  8. This is brilliant... fair play, it looks like you have some really well engineered solutions!! Could I ask what is the measurement from the front most part of the 606 to the rear most point of the 722? Thanks Mat
  9. Thanks for the replies gents!! I'll be having a look tomorrow when she comes to see the grandkids so I'll let you know how I get on. I'd like to rule out the switch as it was a genuine land rover, nothing blue box, so it looks like I could be taking off the door card again. Looking at that fuse box diagram it looks like there is just one relay for all windows and it is controlled by an ecu? Thanks again!! Mat
  10. Hi Guys, The mothers Freelander failed the MOT on the drivers front window not opening. I've replaced the regulator, as there was an issue with the cables, but now there is no movement at all, not even a click of a relay from the switch (the relays would click and the window would try and open with the broken regulator, but now nothing). The switch pack was also replaced as I thought that was the issue, so I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me A: where the relays are located or B: what else I can check. The fuses are ok. Thanks a million Mat
  11. When my daughter was 18 months old I managed to convince her indoors that it was a good idea for the three of us to travel from Tullamore, IRL (190 Miles from Belfast ferry) to Oban and onto Mull, in my 90 H/T with 3 front seats. We had a ball and while I would do it again, I bought a 110 CSW for a reason! It also snowed the whole way from Loch Lomond to Oban... that was pretty special! All in all 750 mile trip with loads of... character.
  12. Not sure if it's too much time or too much money, but you should check out their YouTube channel... A great series, and well made... You'll want to buy the tshirt when you've finished
  13. You definitely need one of these!! http://www.mightycarmods.com/collections/clothing/products/brake-calipers-tee-shirt Black by the way... once you go black.......... Mat
  14. If the only thing that has changed in the drivetrain is the engine, then the 606 should drive with no problems at 70. If your v8 was at 2200rpm at 70mph then the 696 will be at 2200rpm. The old Gwagens were very high geared(or low I always mix that up) so 55mph really was the limit, even in the petrols it sounded quiet high pitched.
  15. The best thing if you don't want water to leak in is to keep all the wiring outside the cab. I have a relay fitted beside the washer bottle, with the trigger feed coming from the left hand headlight. The wiring runs upto the heater box, under the bonnet, out along the edge of the bulkhead, and up the snorkel. Now mine is a 200tdi, and yours may not have a snorkel fitted, or have space on that side of the engine bay with all the steering. I really wouldn't put the wiring inside the cab, there are already enough holes in a defender Mat
  16. Instead of grommets, duct tape both sides after you've cleaned it with thinners. Or if you're feeling really extravagant use Gorilla Tape... don't expect to get it off though Cheaper than grommets and easy to find....... or..... the side of an old wellie...... I'll get my coat.....................
  17. Best of luck... May God be with you... You may need him. Also... My father is a vicar so if you need the last rights at any stage just shout!! Mat
  18. My better half's opinion before I bought the 90... And I quote, "you are NEVER getting one of them... Nothing but a tin can!!" Let her drive it and realise there is a difference between the 86 and the 09, and let it sit for a while... Maybe... Just maybe there will be a spark
  19. I had a 90 hard top, and while it was tight with my girlfriend and our, at the time, 18 month old, it did us fine for a two day drive from central Ireland to Mull. I have since replaced it with a 110 CSW and have to agree with Retroanaconda, the seats in the back aren't huge but my daughter loves it now, and you can fit 2 other adults in there with the childs seat, and the space in the back is amazingly versatile! If you were to compare all 4 options; Defender 110; Defender 90; Discovery or Freelander the Discovery would make more sense every time apart from resale value (and the fact you don't like it) If I had no children I'd have the 90 back in a heart beat but I love the 110 as well. I've driven and owned all of the above and the 90 was without a doubt my favourite, but it has to be either a 110 or Discovery for practicality. So……. Buy a 90 then!! Hope that was absolutely no help at all Mat Happy Christmas!! (and I'm just back from Church and not started on the drinks yet incase you all thought I was bonkers!! )
  20. Like you say... When I do it, I'll do it right once. Autobox from V8 disco and have the car I actually want! The main issue I think I'd have would be the mounts, and whether they'll all line up... I don't fancy chopping and grinding the galvanized chassis. Anyone any wiser on 200 tdi LT77 mount positions vs V8?
  21. So based on the information about the adapter plates... I'm guessing that if I wanted to retrofit the OM606 into my 200tdi 110 I'd need to find a V8 gearbox or auto box to do so, or would that adapter kit match up to the existing LT77? I'm aware that the LT77 would be almost at its limit regarding torque and power but I'd be looking at keeping the stock power and torque of the OM606 and hopefully the LT77 might suffice. Also, are the engine mounts the same for the 200tdi as the V8 or am I looking at chopping and welding the chassis? Thanks Mat
  22. In ireland the registration system used to be like it was in the UK, a combination of letters and numbers. There was also a prefix and suffix system if I'm told correctly. In the early 90's they changed to the system they use now.... 93 KE 16000... 93 being the year of registration, KE being Kildare, the county of registration, and 16000 being the 16,000th car to be registered that year in that county... If you import a car from the UK, it keeps its year of registration, and is registered sequentially, so the next 1993 car that is registered in County Kildare after my one would be 93 Ke 16001. The ZV system that was mentioned was the old system where ZV was the county it was registered in (Tipperary... The place where that guy is doing his "legitimate" body swaps, and getting all his pre-1980 something chassis) and there were numbers following that, or before it if the car was really old. Co. Offaly was IR, again if I'm told correctly. In Ireland, it is perfectly legal to do a body swap, i.e. change the body from a newer car onto an older chassis, as the registration is with the chassis, not the whole vehicle. This is the problem Skauldy was having with his new chassis. You can take the whole body, drive train, axles, interior, from a 2013 car, and if it will fit, drop it onto a 1977 chassis, but you can't legally replace a chassis as a "part", spurious or genuine, to maintain a vehicle! MADNESS!!!!
