  1. You'll likely see a drop off in MAP when using the snorkel, but the ECU won't care, you may just lose a tiny bit of top end.
  2. It was a more a sarcastic remark that there's always '4x4' rather than 'car' swept away in these articles.... I mean they wouldn't write 'supermini swept away in 4" of flood water', would they?
  3. They appear to, 4 stage.... softest was probably still too firm, like I said above, I'm waiting for them to wear out a bit and then they will be better, maybe
  4. Can I add, that the drive home was one of the most horrible I have ever had.... what with rain, massive puddles, narrow lanes and people insisting on keeping their main beams on made it all rather stressful, and I'm not normally one to make a fuss of things! I'd say I was glad I wasn't in the Lotus, but actually you were probably better off!
  5. For reference, you also drove LGT off road, and that is on Terrafirma TF179, but set on maximum soft. They may be a bit firm, but does feel pretty controlled in most circumstances. Let's hope the B6s work out for you.
  6. I manage to avoid most of that through good choices, even more reason to stay away, it seems.
  7. Was this an autoreplace by the forum? I assume you aren't saying Dave is talking rubbish, that would be most out of character for you You have ridden in a car with B6s, my Audi coupe...
  8. I'd put it back, sounds like a 4.2 may have been tuned with the wrong engine size as a variable, as such if you change it the maps will all be wrong. Personally I'd just get it running using the proper settings, and map it myself with a wideband O2 (essential, really) and a lot of time, you will get better results and things will match your setup rather than a fairly rough and rich map supplied by Nige.
  9. I'm unsure how the number of wheels driven has a significant impact on how likely a car is to be swept away. A very sad story, I hope it does make people think before charging through flowing water.
  10. Worth saying, you really, really should be looking at an inverter machine these days, so much lighter, more efficient, and more options. E.g. the equivalent non-inverter machine was 2-300 quid more than the my inverter Parweld, but weighed 20+Kg, vs 9Kg!
  11. .... and the final uneventful video.... yes, it really can get stuck. WhatsApp Video 2024-01-01 at 19.58.36.mp4
  12. A day that started out lovely, and blinding, driving into the sun with a shiny aluminium bonnet insert, but a fun day nonetheless, good to see some peeps, and some driving... Some pics/video from @FridgeFreezer, and one final video from me in next post.... I am rubbish and always forget to record stuff. Decorations in place..... Yes, Filip made it! In a Lotus! 13. Unsure, but had way more than I needed (only needed 2, had to buy about 8, IIRC, but can check tomorrow)
  14. You mean 1UZ before Summer Sisters? I have a list as long as my arm, and only half will get done, but priorities are something like: Finish LGT bonnet Shave LGT headlamp buckets (don't ask! Will post in my thread at some point) Almost 6x6m garage attached to house, so less need to go to parents to do things, easier to tinker in the evening. Front winch on LGT (means chopping chassis about) Ali fuel tank and in-tank EFI pump Ali air box Ali crankcase breather/catch can Plus the usual pottering on.
  15. Being a 2a heater there's not much rebuilding you can do.
  16. I think I have some spares, pm me your address and I'll get some in the post, how many you need?
  17. The light is only coming on as the fan is generating a small current in the breeze, and back feeding to the switch. It's not powered, and is actually reducing the cooling capacity of the radiator when switched off, as it hinders airflow a bit. Plus as I say, if the thermostat is shut there's no hot water for the radiator to cool, the radiator, fan etc do not set the Operating temp of an engine, only the thermostat does that.
  18. How would a freewheeling radiator fan cool the engine that has a closed thermostat and therefore no water running through the rad?
  19. Excellent, and yes, no idea why it was the other way round from factory....
  20. Ah here we go: https://forums.lr4x4.com/topic/112237-the-little-green-thing/?do=findComment&comment=1044561
  21. Remove hose, tap round with rubber mallet to desired position... It is just pressed in. If you find a pic in my LGT thread I have done it to mine to make hose routing easier.
  22. There was a chance I would be there bonnet-less, but apparently Mr Plod won't like that, so will be doing best to get something that resembles one in place.
  23. Supplied by the London branch of the KGB.
