  1. That or MAP + air temp (therefore density) MAP sensors are a tenth of the price of a MAF, I know what I would rather have.
  2. Yep, buy a heavy duty diff pan and you can junk the clamp on diff guard which will only fall off anyways Second hand diff and away you go
  3. Try taking the cap off the expansion tank before opening the brass plug, the water can't 'refill the system, from expansion tank' as its own vacuum is holding it in there.
  4. Sounds like you may have got away with it, just to save any further confusion, compression tests should always be done HOT. Have you had it running? Maybe the split hose was just that, a split hose.... and the reason it stopped running was not an over heat, but the LPG vapouriser freezing up and not supplying any more fuel to the engine. Fire it up and go drive, you got two chances
  5. Here ya go: http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/fuelpump.htm
  6. Ummmm..... Read the two posts above again.... Sounds like it's all OK.
  7. I think you will find you need more than half an inch TBH, as the wheel turns it gets much closer to the corner bumper... As for shortening, I have no better idea than some subtle hacksaw blade cuts and re-mould with a paint stripper gun...? I just cut mine off, then I got a southdown winch bumper instead
  8. It's a general EFI fault, try the diagnostics in the Tech Archive....
  9. So.... if you make your own 2 speed gear box, make the crawl gear worm drive and the pratting about gear in the normal way?
  10. Test compression figures are as following for the 3.9:8.13:1 150-160 PSI9.35:1 170-180 PSITry some oil in the bore and retest....
  11. Since rebuild or since HG change? If the former then they still strike me as rather low...
  12. No need for a bigger bump stop, my question was rhetorical
  13. Should be fine, the reason they are worrying is the shock may bottom out, but then when you think about it, why should that not happen on a 2" lift kit? Do you make your bump stop any bigger?
  14. http://www.a2stainless.co.uk/Land-Rover-Defender-90-Chassis-Bolt-Kit_AFE2X.aspx
  15. That's a seal land, to stop the axle oil mixing with the wheel bearing grease. Not sure what was stopping it though....
  16. That is a possibility, that's why I have an auto Also why some comp trucks have 3 batteries, 2 of which are just for the winch.
  17. 105-120PSI seems rather low TBH, what sort of mileage has it done?
  18. Wrong end of the stick, it only joins the two when the alternator is charging (when the light on the dash goes out). This allows you to flatten the aux battery but still be able to start the car, or flatten the starter battery and then jump start by flicking a switch
  19. Split charge, for a no hassle solution go to X-Eng Tanya were very quick delivering my battery (exactly what you have linked to).
  20. Charles, As you're running locked axles, when you make the gearbox, would using a worm drive be an option, this would negate the need for a brake, wouldn't it? Just a thought, ready to be shot
  21. Maybe not to a newbie looking to learn to weld though
  22. On that page: P800DEB Landrover Blue Engine Enamel 500ml Gotta be worth a punt As I said above, I think the red was 5 main bearing engines, and that was ~82/3 IIRC.
  23. Isn't gasless wire thicker, requiring a change of feed wheels?
