  1. Have a word with David Bowyer, he produces a 12-24V switchable box, though in reality I am sure it can't be that hard to figure out how to link two batteries in series with an Albright or two...
  2. Wodger, got ya Next question, can you not nick whatever they use in Ford, Vaux, Scooby fuel tanks to do your bit? Or... you could just bring the wiring out the tank breather Or say sod it and buy genuine and have a spare for £20: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Landrover-Defender-V8-3-5-EFi-Petrol-Pumps-2-off-1-New-/290493578161?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43a2c43bb1
  3. Can you not use a standard pump/sender, such as a Rangie/disco V8 one instead?
  4. Sounds like you have done pretty much what I have to mine, except the sills on mine are starting to look ropey... no holes, just want to get on top of it before they do, B pillar is a little swollen now... and I have one front inner wing to do, I've already done the passenger side At least I and you know it will keep going for years to come
  5. What about the TDV6 that they have just stopped producing in the Disco? Of if feeling mad, a TDV8? *edit* or has now been said, just LPG it
  6. It is a VERY satisfying job when it's all done though isn't it?
  7. I saw that too, thought "nah I won't post it, I'll get called a muppet"
  8. Large, as in won't fit in the garage cos they are too tall A series one will sneak in no problem though
  9. Finish the Mini first, whilst doing that look for the Series I (my preference, the 101 is just too thirsty and impractically large!), then you should have one for your birthday
  10. Basically exactly the same as an RRC! Boot floor, sills, wheel arches(F&R), seatbelt mounts, headlight pods, body mounts etc etc etc...
  11. Because when the MOT tester isn't looking, a lot of people just pop rivet in an ali floor from a pre-86 truck
  12. If your V8 one sticks in first sometimes it is on it's way out, you may get 100 miles or 20,000 miles, but something isn't working as it should.... re-reading Ashcroft's site they site it as being the governor needing cleaning or replacing, though it sounds like you probably already know this.... an oil and filter change and governor clean may well fix it, but you are taking a chance. The 300TDi box is definitely different with change points more suited to the diesels power band, the V8 would work as is, but not be ideal. The torque converter for the diesel box is smaller than the V8 IIRC too.
  13. If he's just replaced the rotor arm and not the dizzy, my guess is he has dislodged the bob weights getting the old arm off..... requires a dizzy strip down to sort, simple enough just time consuming.......
  14. Have they stopped people recovering with ratchet straps, drinking and driving and driving round the field waaaaasy too fast?If so I might pay a visit, felt pretty on edge when I was there last time, with you, Nick.
  15. Was it a genuine master cylinder or pattern? If pattern I'd be suspicious of it (particularly if it arrived in a blue box), but try the cheap route(above) first!
  16. didn't you want to learn welding? If so get a MIG set up....
  17. Suck...... it needs to compliment the airflow as you drive along.
  18. The KAM graphs are in ft/lbs as well as NM, the Ashcroft ones are in ft/lbs.....
  19. Similar to this then: http://www.ashcroft-.../cv%20graph.JPG http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/images/uploads/front%20halfshaft.JPG http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/images/uploads/rear%20halfshaft.JPG
  20. 2.25 petrol - 17-20mpg.... yes it is very thirsty! In fact, a V8 would be better....
  21. Jam fan belt with a rag or two, big spanner and a lump hammer. Just make sure you hit the spanner in the direction it needs to go rather than 'into' the bearing, where you might damage it. Remember it's LH thread
  22. Pick the ecu up at the same time and you can bolt everything on and fire it up without even touching Megasquirt.....
  23. From what I remember, you'll need to swap stub axles too, which is where it gets expensive.... TBH, you could well be better off buying a second hand 24 spline axle complete, refurbing it and getting the spare 24 spline ARB and new KAM/Ashcroft shafts & CVs in it, and then bolt the whole lot up to the truck. Would certainly save on down time...
  24. For a screen dump, just use Irfanview installed in the host operating system, not the virtual machine, then crop to suit, which you would probably do anyways. As for printing, do you have a printer installed on the virtual PC? If not you should be able to share the printer from your host PC and then connect to it by browsing the 'Network' in the virtual PC.... Simples..... init?
