  1. Should be a straight swap over AFAIK. I am sure someone with some expert knowledge will be along to confirm. I know one of the garages in Hereford swapped a cam not long back in a hot rod and he didn't have any extra bits.
  2. taking it to the extreme, but i like the thinking
  3. you need to burn it onto a cd first, then copy to your hard drive to run it with the adobe acrobat that it is bundled with
  4. Taken from the Go-Lpg website; .that's where i read it anyway, www.go-lpg.co.uk in the LPG motoring hints section
  5. when filling you will hear a "machine-gun" style rattle when the tank solenoids sense that the tanks are full. This is when you should stop filling, or so i have read anyway.
  6. with twin 36 litre tanks you have a theoretical capacity of about 56/57 litres. so with the distance you covered on that amount that is an impressive increase. i managaed to get 20mpg out of my 3.5 the other week, on mostly back roads (Hereford/Pandy/Capel Y Fin/Hay and back to Hereford)
  7. i have got a mystery leak on my 3.5, but i am pretty sure it is from the back of the valley gasket, as there is a green trail of antifreeze running down the bellhousing, i will replace it when the weather dries up for long enough, until then a daily check of the water level does me. i have heard of k-seal before now, there are others out there too, wonder weld, steel seal etc etc, IMHO they are all just temporary cures to the underlying problem.
  8. early days yet, but my laptop with bluetooth gps unit from maplin, memory map and the wayfinder green lane program from way-finder.co.uk that exports them into multimap too
  9. the migration of the swivel grease would probably explain the grey goop that i drained out of my front diff last weekend then.......
  10. just tried it on the xp desktop machine @ work, and it runs fine. will try it on my vista laptop tonight with my gps receiver
  11. did you prime the turbo before you started the engine? if not, as soon as you start it, you have a turbo running at 150,000rpm + with no lubrication - turbo failure is inevitable then unfortunately
  12. http://www.wyevalleybrewery.co.uk/news_view.php?id=176 just in case anyone is interested, it's tomorrow (Saturday)
  13. It does have the extra couple of hols around the dash for switches, although these are just blanking panels in mine. I can see the idea behind it though. I may invest in some of these http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-...hes/modular.php as they seem quite cheap to buy, especially with the little pictures as well.
  14. Right, I want to mount some switches on the dash of my 200 series Disco for when i get some work/roof lights wired up, what options are there for mounting the switches. Obviously the Mudpod springs instantly to mind, although at £40 it's a bit on the pricey side. Does anyone else have any suggestions as to where to get a mounting cradle (for want of a better description) for the switches? Cheers all
  15. AFAIK if you are sending parts outside the EU then they are supplied without VAT being added, only the carriage is VAT'able in the UK, as it is a service in the UK being payed for.
  16. bought a sealey multi valve one last year to do the rebuild on my old xr4x4, cracking bit of kit and does ohv/ohc/dohc etc....with ease
  17. definately recommend the Forte products, bung a can of the fuel system treatment through it too, will clean the lines etc then as well. we sell unipart branded oil here (made by Fuchs) for £11.05 a gallon for 15/40 mineral.
  18. cv joint is shot. both of my disco's have had the smae problem, however, lifting one wheel and turning didn't highlight which one it was. only definitive way of checking is to strip them down. you should be able to see if its broken up by taking the outer drive flange off and peering inside
  19. superglue has that effect on rear windows.......
  20. I have a friend who has a TD5 disco and at the moment he is getting about 16mpg out of it (only slightly better than my 3.5). I have done some investigating and it looks like it could be something to do with the EGR valve. anyone have any other ideas where to look for a problem? cheers
  21. my old disco 200 tdi managed 34 mpg on a run to Coventry and back via Malvern/Ledbury, so good mix of m-way and A/B roads. the v8 disco is averaging 14 mpg on the LPG, too scared to run it on petrol for too long
  22. tried one of those draper ones, couldn't get on with it. now use my dad's old Sykes multi tool, bar with threaded end for the crank pilot to screw onto, then a selection of sliding bushes to fit the centre of the plate, works perfectly every time (and fits other breeds too) it's a similar one to this draper kit http://www.drapertools-online.com/b2c/b2ci...?pp_skmno=39223

well worth it for the fuel cost more than anything. however, go for one of the newer multipoint systems as they provide better mpg compared to the earlier systems. it involves drilling gas injectors into the inlet manifold, and it also uses the lambda probes in the exhaust to adjust the mixture to make sure it's running right.
  24. the transit problem is related to the fuel boost valve inside the pump itself, fairly common problem from that age onwards. any good diesel specialist should know how/where to sort it out.
