  1. Check that the interior light works on all door switches ie. open one door see the light comes on, shut the door and let the light time out and then do the same on the next door and so on. If you find the light dosen't come on, then that door switch has a problem and if you don't then all the switches are functioning ok. It's not unknown for there to be a problem with the bonnet switch.
  2. You will find thats the ultrasonic detector, it's happend to me, so i make sure the alarm is off now, the ultrasonics that LR fitted to the D1's can go unstable very easly. A shock sensor will not activate by rocking the vehicle they are designed to filter out that sort of movement and activate at a specific shock frequency but a very hard tap on the glass or a kick on a panel could do it.
  3. The interior light door switches are wired back to the multi-function unit, this part of the MFU may have a problem and believes that a door is open, hence the interior light staying on, the alarm chirping and the wiper not working. Have you removed the vehicles battery and so powered down the systems?
  4. Jacks are filled with Hydraulic Jack Oil not engine oil the trouble is jacks take a different amount depending on the jack and manufacture. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...8107_langId_-1d
  5. You don't have a shock sensor as standard, but it's easy to fit one they only have 3 wires. I have one fitted to another car and it turns on the interior light when the car receives a knock, the alarm system detects volt drop as does the LR system, so turning the light on is detected when the alarm is set and off goes the sounder.
  6. One difference is that Tdi's front springs are handed but the V8's are the same each side.
  7. It's a UK site but it gives a lot of info on plugs. http://www.sparkplugs.co.uk/
  8. Things have changed on the later D1's I did my rear seal a few weeks ago and I have a bolt holding the flange on it was i think was something like 14mm and it was torqued up to 110Nm so tightish. Also for anybody interested, you don't need the tool to undo the four bolts a pair of ring spanners will do although you will have to remove the grease nipple.
  9. Nether has my disco, although my 3.5 RRc had one
  10. Well Done streaky i wish i could hear your setup. But i would paint the speaker grills a matt black and remove of that alloy look "it's not me", but still 5 star. And, i will have to check out ebay for a shovel like yours, a style i haven't seen before.
  11. If it was me requiring a new fob then i would speak to a LR dealer and also give remote key a call. http://www.remotekey.co.uk/
  12. What model of disco, have you tried Auto trader etc or the www? there is no shortage of them.
  13. There's already a thread on this subject http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=41180
  14. One or the other you don't have both, pre-March 1994 was cable. My SatNav reads 70 but my speedo reads 75.
  15. I have tweeters mounted on the A post and they handle the 'highs' very well. I haven't a clue on their spec. but if you are retro fitting then and they are non LR then spec will be on the box but I'm sure you will get a spec for tweeters from a search of the www.
  16. I do understand, my first port of call when I had my RRC was always the LR dealer and I purchased lots of items from them including exhaust parts to brake pads, although I did replace the front pads with Mintex but they only lasted a year, so replaced them with genuine parts that lasted me five years. I still go for genuine parts for the disco with pad/s, seals, serp belt and ignition bits.
  17. Remote Key is the company mentioned in a lot in forums for their services, thats why I mentioned them, I have never had any problems with my alarm so havent had the need for a LR dealer or a company such as Remote Key. As my nearest LR dealer is a 36 mile round trip and I don't realy have that time for that. I expect I would use Remote Key if there was ever a need. Internet shopping is all the rage now "why the hell would I want to go to remote key?" I believe you answered your own question " it was done on the spot, no waiting for the postman to arrive and used only genuine parts". My question is, what genuine parts go into programming a fob.
  18. The alarm ecu pic you posted is the early ecu using a single button fob, I understand from the forum that these can be reprogrammed by the owner. The info has been posted before on how to do it. The Green version with the button fob is not DIY. Also the manufacturing date on your black ecu is 1993 (35/93) and your disco is a 1996, strange.
  19. Your existing keyfob will not work with the replacement alarm ecu the transmission data will be wrong. You keyfob/s will need to be programmed to the replacement ecu, so speak to Remote Key they will require the ecu ID No. along with your fob to programme it. http://www.remotekey.co.uk/
  20. 1. Depends on the head unit you choose, some do with an extra interface. 2. Just power down the headlamp washer pump.
  21. Oooops and I thought the D2 has two a/c fans
  22. The aircon fan will be in the front of the rad and there will be two side by side. If you have the climate control switched on, then the fan will switch on and off at different times. The heat exchanger is behind the fans in front of the radiator. If you don't have aircon then the electrical fan will be an additional cooling fan something like 16 inch dia.
  23. Don't be a spoil sport i'm enjoying it, it makes a change, although "no understand" as i'm only an electrical engineer... O yes what was your thread about " bleedin brakes on a 300Tdi" or is that bleeding, have you done them yet ? as i'm not too far from Northfleet just the other side of Southfleet you might say, so if you need help.
  24. Hi, it's the same subject so welcome NO it's not normal, any moving part will wear at some time but I don't think that will apply to your seat, it would have to be moving backwards/forwards day in day out to wear. I suspect whatever locks the seat in position either the motor of something else is loose on it mounting. As above how do you get to the workings of the seat.
  25. There's 10 adjustments with these seat and not all of them get used so the flexy drives seize up, this may be your problem but how you get to the gubbins without taking the seat out I dont know. Remove the seat suround and see what can be sprayed with WD40.
