  1. Had the same prob on my old RRC turn out to be the steering box and £300 later back to normal but that was a long time ago.
  2. Fitted these 12 years ago.. they were standard on my old RRC
  3. Or you can use two flexies into a T piece fitted on the inner wing...it's up to you.
  4. That is correct, but they were not fitted with ABS.
  5. The existing flexy hose goes into a T piece then a short additional copper pipe is required to the extra inlet, a standard mod the kit is available from "go faster" auto shops. My front calipers each have 4 pistons as standard I thought that was the same for a Tdi.
  6. You could also check you propshafts uj's for wear.
  7. Ok you have two button fob, then all you have to do is place it near the starter switch to re-mobilise the engine. Pressing a button will not re-mobilise the system as it's passive. Unless you don't have a disco that is UK spec. Also fob's do go out of tune and require a refurb which "remotekey" can carry out for you http://www.remotekey.co.uk/ Taken from the owners handbook: Engine immobilisation is an important aspect of the security system, and includes a feature known as ’passive immobilisation’. This is designed to safeguard the vehicle from theft should the driver forget to lock the doors and ensures that the engine is immobilised automatically whenever any of the following conditions occur: - when the vehicle is locked using the handsetor key. - thirty seconds after the starter switch has been turned off AND the driver’s door opened. - five minutes after the starter switch is turned off, or the alarm system is disarmed. The engine will be re-mobilised automatically whenever the key is inserted into the starter switch, provided the handset is kept on the key ring in close proximity to the starter switch.
  8. Have you a decent battery in the fob? the radio range is not great so stand by the front passenger doot and try from there, thats the nearest you can get to the ECU. Also as u have a single button fob there is a means to reprograme the fob to the ecu, it's been posted a few times in this forum recently..
  9. I understand that only the early D2's had difflock, have a look at this link. http://www.discovery2.co.uk/diff_lock.html
  10. What disco do you have? you will have a problem if you have a D2 without a diff lock.
  11. You have two temperture senders, one behind the distributor with a multi pin plug that's for the engine management and behind that is a smaller sender with a single wire thats the one for the temp gauge. Just disconnect the sender wire (it's a push fit) and earth it, then if the gauge needle deflects when the ignition is switched on you have a faulty sender.
  12. Just bog standard 55watt Hella lamps the same as Land Rover fit. Wipac look ok for the price, check out ebay.
  13. Hi DiscoGlover, sorry but don't have any sound clips and computer speakers don't reproduce the exhaust sound as it is live. As I said It's not that loud but when I start up people turn and look but as soon as the revs drop back down then there's the distintive V8 burble when ticking over, inside it's a distant hum at the rear when accelerating. For the sound it's 100% better than the standard system and being stainless it's fit and forget hopefully.
  14. The diesel middle box is the same for a V8 and according to Janspeed a cherry bomb is a back box, a cherry bomb will change the tone but it's the mid box that sets the volume so my Janspeed mid box has increased the volume but it's not that loud. a bit like a DB9.... I wish.
  15. For an engine in good condition 10w40 seems to be the average grade to use in the uk. Have a look at this link and viscosity half way down the page. http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html
  16. There is a bit of "flexing" of the regulator while in operation if that's what u mean.
  17. All you need to know on HID http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/Hid/conversions/conversions.html
  18. Central locking actuator is in the door lock so other than spraying the lock gubbings with wd40 it's replace the lock time.
  19. The question comes up a lot and the answer is always see these two links, http://forum.landrovernet.com/showthread.php?t=168333 http://forum.landrovernet.com/showthread.php?t=168003
  20. Dose the engine turnover but will not start ? if nothing ie the starter dose not turn then I would look at the immobiliser exciter ring around the ing, switch and also the wire from the switch to the starter.
  21. That's correct for later 300 series discos they have a two button fobs, only the disco two and onwards have a key combined fob.
  22. Thats different then, is your disco a UK spec one? This is copied from the owners handbook for a 98 UK spec disco.: Engine immobilisation is an important aspect of the security system, and includes a feature known as ’passive immobilisation’. This is designed to safeguard the vehicle from theft should the driver forget to lock the doors and ensures that the engine is immobilised automatically whenever any of the following conditions occur: - when the vehicle is locked using the handset or key.
  23. The immobiliser is passive you don't have to press any buttons to re-mobilise, the fob just needs to be in close proximity to the starter switch. Remotes can loose their tune have a look at this site for Key Fob Reconditioning http://www.remotekey.co.uk/key-fob-reconditioning/
  24. Something for the weekend sir... http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f38/discover...html#post695725
  25. They are identical except they have a black surround. The back of the surround is silver and the theory is that any stray light from the rim of the lamp is reflected back so increasing the light ouput, some say that is does and the light output is improved. I just fitted the 50% Xeon bulbs they are brilliant so bright my lamp guards throw shadows on the road. http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/h4-bulbs-c-255.html
