  1. My supplier would have a fit if I asked for a metric size tube in an imperial length. 8 feet = 2.4384 metre so its 2.5 metres required
  2. The vacuum hose and a T piece should just be laying and unfixed behind the the washer bottle. A top tip is after you have trimed the split ends wrap a few tight laps of PVC electrical tape over the ends and they won't split there again.
  3. What like a F1 racing car. I don't know, the difficulty I think in finding a bose to fit a disco and which then has the function to allow the quick steering wheel removed. I belive it's hard to find a standard bose for a disco to allow just a steering wheel change. Have you searched the www.
  4. Could be even easier to do than I thought
  5. What is needed and how to do it is shown in this link http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f38/discovery-headlight-conversion-2003-lights-71266.html#post695725
  6. I did say it could not be user isolated, but perhaps the units PCB could be modified to isolate the sensor function. So if you have a circuit diagrame of the PCB and the technical understanding give it a go and you may solve your problen
  7. Note I was refering to how the items are controlled or are not active until the ign.switch is turned, and I do understand the complexity of the D2. although it's not as complex as my Maserati
  8. I've not see this question before in the various LR forums. I would not think it to be a problem just replace the mirrors lay in another wire or two to power the folding servos and a switch to suit, job done. But why woud you want to go to that expence? just do what you do now, I must fold my mirror in only once or twice a year:)
  9. I don't see why the D2 is any different but the two items you mention are ignition controled on the D1, so you do have a problem somewhere.
  10. Your right the best thing is to remove the unit, clean service repair on a bench and reinstall using "proper sealer" I did that to one of mine as the nylon sliders/bushers had broken so the glass would not pull down on to the rubber seal properly. I did not remove the head lining but removed the class and removed the screws from that direction, it was fiddley but do-able a mornings work.
  11. The inertia sensor is a complex bit of electronics and you disco has one built into the alarm ECU. It sounds that your unit has go 'over sensitive' which is not unheard of with electronic componants that are powered 24/7. Unfortunately the inertia sensor cannot be adjusted or isolated by the user, the solution to your problem is drive a bit slower or replace the ECU.
  12. All you need is the key number. Or get a copy cut from your spare, no spare o dear Search the Land Rovers site for dealers.
  13. Your local mechanic should know that Lr stoped production of the Disco 1 in 1998. The info I have gained from the various forums is that the wiring is standard UK models that is. It won't be a problem to wire the windscreen, u will need two relays if your screen has two elements like the factory fitted one, then a timer relay to control the two relays plus a push on push off switch. This link will show u what to look out for. Good luck in your little project. http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/home/homepage.php
  14. It an indication the the fobs battery is low the info is in the owners handbook.
  15. Duct tape shrivels up in the sun use Flashband tape like this but under £6 at B&Q It's a bit to wide so needs cutting in half. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FLASH-AND-SEAL-FLASHBAND-FLASHING-TAPE-150mm-x-10mtr_W0QQitemZ260465287758QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item3ca4f0e24e
  16. We must not forget that "gas dampers" are oil, but with a pocket of gas, the damper technology involves keeping the oil under pressure, which prevents it from foaming when temperatures and loads are increasing. As a result, full damping power is retained even when the system is placed under extreme stress. Bilstein yellow dampers are heavy duty for fast on/off road driving, Bilstein also do a normal road bias gas damper(black).
  17. Thanks, I didn't think of ebay I will keep my eyes open, I think new ones are £40+ each plus the switch
  18. You will be looking for one of these at each end of the windcsreen
  19. With a 97 model all the wiring is there so you will need the fuse, switch and timer relay the standard screen has two elements left/right using one relay I don't know how the timing works MFU or relay, I have only use mine once of twice in 12 years when there was a bit of snow about and I switch it manually, my heater clears the screen quicker if it's just frosty.
  20. In the UK we have a winter tyres avaliable and I understand about the different compounds, but most of our snowy days at -10deg + are limited therefore we go for a universal tyre, be it a road bias tyre or an AT type of tyre that's why if we run with AT's of a certain manufacture and we find they are ok all year round then we recommend them. I had 10 years with Michelin M&S, a standard fitment by Land Rover, so universal, which I did not have any problems with summer or winter.
  21. I will agree that the same type and manufacture of tyre is fitted all round. I can't give an opinion on tyres as I have not tried and tested any different makes, I still use Goodyear Eagle GT4 the tyre that my disco was supplied with.
  22. Easy job that's good to know, all I need now is the cash to get the kit When/if you get the time do write up on how to do it for the tech section, that would be handy.
  23. This something I'm thinking of doing, somewhere I read that the motor has to be powered to one extream either fully up or down before fitting to the ball joint/headlamp. It must have been on the web.
  24. The C/L ECU is only an interface between the alarm module. Locking with a key operates (via a rod) the master actuator in the drivers door which in turn operates the slave actuators in the remaining doors although with the disco you may have to replace the actuator with one from Maplin. Key operated central locking kits only come with a master and slave actuators, if you require remote operation then you will need a transmitter & receiver/interface.

    Disco 2

The alarm uses a electronic sounder, so if you alarm uses the vehicle horn for the sound then there's been some modifications to the wiring which are possibly now giving you a problem.
