  1. Indeed, it was close to 3 months between telling them to getting mine road legal, dealing with DVLA and VOSA, who don't like talking to each other
  2. Any tips on the getting the centre's out I've cut through the welds, and down into the root of the weld, but i can't budge them, i've tried the sledge and a press so far, any other ideas ?
  3. Changed very slightly since then into this Also the first picture of my current build, on the trailer, again changed very slightly
  4. Thanks guys I've now ordered a pair for the new truck, so will see how they perform in a few weeks.
  5. At 56ft/min no load it's not far off 8274 speed Can't find any loaded figures though. Thanks Dave, it looks like a good bit of kit, well spec'd and a good price.
  6. Has anyone get any experince of the TDS 9.5 winch ? And is it any better than the Superwinch EP9 ?
  7. You need to cut 10" off the front of a 110 tub, and whatever you want off the back (10" cut off the back gives the same overhang as a 90)
  8. Jim, i think he's talking about the special series 2's which were only 2 wheel drive A bit of lat plate across the top and back of that axle should do the trick.
  9. 10mm, over twice the strength of what the winch can pull, Can get plenty on drum Never broken, always kept clean.
  10. Brilliant, that'll scare off even more amature builders, and mean more illegal (and possibly unsafe) vehicles on the road. I best get the new project finished and SVA'd before the new test comes in.
  11. poo Another set of event's i'm not welcome at Shame, as it sounds a good idea. B)
  12. Cheers Mark, getting there slowly, weather's not been helping much
  13. Rubber hoses will do. I clipped all pipes / wiring at least every 200mm, with zip ties on mounts, and U clips for copper hose, and the SVA man said "very tidy"
  14. There's one over on ORRP, in the project section " A DiscoFairy is Reborn"
  15. Anlge them back a degree or two, and add some vetical plates on the outer edge of each finger, to stop the pipes rolling off, about 100mm high. I'd suggest 4 uprights, out of something like 80 box, or U beam. with a 150x150x10mm gusset under the back end of each finger.
  16. I'm in the process of trying to improve my landy (defender 100) for road use/towing/traveling. I need to change the springs (and maybe dampers) as it's crashing/bouncing about on the road, and very harsh on rough tracks. I've currently got 170 lb/in front and 210 lb/in rear with ES9000 dampers. Weight is 58% front / 42% rear, (1500kg sprung weight) Any suggestions on spring rates, do i go softer or harder Not worried about flex, just a bit of comfort.
  17. Anyone got any ideas what could cause a clutch to stick on? My vehicle was parked on a down hill sideslope for about about 6 hours, and felt like the clutch plate had stuck to the flywheel Would go into all gers with engine off, and the hydraulics circuit is fine. Starting in gear, driving, then brake and clutch together fixed it. drove ok after that. Any thing i should look for before i pull the boxes out. BTW, clutch has done 12.5 K over two years.
  18. I've got jump leads wired in via an anderson plug, and can disconnect the batery via an isolating switch. If i need to remove the batey, 4 small bolts and the whole seat comes out.
  19. I've just bent up a full vehicle cage with Corus BS pipe (48x3), and a cheaper version of the clarke bender, with almost perfect bends. There is very minor defermation on the inside of 90 degree bends but not enough to be concerned. I used the 40mm die, as this is closet to the bore diameter. Ask your pipe supplier where it came from. Best of british, or cheap chinese ?
  20. Indeed, i've got rangy seats in my defender, very comfy, and not that squashed in even at 6ft. They bolt stright on, with a few new holes drilled in the box. Only problem is getting to the battery. However using the rear seats with the hinges looks to work well.
  21. Mine is still straight as a die, after two years of off road use, mainly due to the 6mm plate i covered it in
  22. Indeed he does. I will be out laning most weekends in the Brecon area once i've finished building my new landy.
  23. Looks good, should help keep the trees off. What does it attach to at the front ? Hmm What is this years fashion then ? As i can change the design of my current build before it's finished
