  1. Two years ago i had my 100" chassis shot blasted, galved and door to door collection/delivery for £220 with West Wales Galving Serv, who are dealers for Cardiff Galving.
  2. What about those working on their landy tonight, i'll do another hour or so work on the project tonight as it's dry Here's to a very happy and muddy 2008
  3. Almost done now Russ, looking really good B)
  4. I've not got much done on rebuilding the Disco, blooming rain I can hopefully get the engine and axles back on before i go back to work. And i've still got to change the transfer box on the 100"
  5. I was out laning today, and finished off in Llandovery Explored some of the Epynt Ranges and Crychan forest.
  6. As i'd been a good lad this year (snigger) Santa brought me a new CB radio, Bish, happy now ?
  7. What year disco ? They should be M10x1.0
  8. Indeed, they will be pinhole free, but the least welds i have to put in the better.
  9. I've just finish your mounts Bish and Les, once they've cooled down a bit, i'll throw some red lead on them. I'll post them to you in the new year, as they'll only get lost over xmas Can you send me your addresses?
  10. Interesting Mike I've just had a brainwave whilst tidying out the shed. What if i was to cut the top off a 20L metal jerry can, and weld on a flat plate. I could then put all the fittings on this plate, so my welds will be above the fuel level and would be cheap to do. Any ideas where can i buy a threaded top and neck from ?
  11. It'll need to be a rectangular shape, to maximise space, I haven't got exact measurements yet. Jez, i don't have a TIG unfortunetly, just mig, (and access to big migs B) ) If i make it from sheet steel, bend a return edge and overlap the seams, can i mig it together myself ? I guess i'll need a lockable sealed filler cap, a feed and return fittings and a breather. Am i right in thinking that the feed and return should come out of the top of the tank ?
  12. I am thinking of something tall and thin to go upright behind the rear bulkhead, hopefully this should help with the side slope problem.
  13. Quiet Darren stalking the lesser spotted Bishtail
  14. Has anyone made a fuel tank to go on a landy, any advice on how to make one ? A custom alli one is way out of my budget Am i right in thinking that 4 galons will be enough for a single days trialing / winch challenging with a TDi, or would i be safer with something bigger? What guage steel should i use, what about baffles, and what can i use to seal it 100% ?
  15. One of my jobs over xmas is to adjust the timing on my disco 200 Tdi I've been told it's a bit retarded, so how do i advance it ? An idiots guide needed please
  16. Spare a thought for people building on the drive, my safety specs had frost on them last night when i put them down for 10 minutes
  17. I'm off the list as i've actually started my vapour build, still at bare chassis stage mind you. Seeing as Jim started his when i started building my first project, 2 and a half years ago, and i've not seen a single picture yet, he get's my vote.
  18. I just this afternoon made 2 new ones for the project, need to get some more bar to make the other two, Theses ones are 20mm though B) I'll see what i can do next week guys
  19. I've got to cut off and move mine this weekend and I am going to make some new ones, do you want me to make two sets Bish ? They don't look that complicated to make
  20. My 200 tdi has a full length, standard exhaust, but with both boxes replaced with straight pipe, sounds very throaty under load, but not really noticable at high speeds with a full hard top.
  21. Yes i will, that'll save me a lot of work, thanks Mark I'll ask Mike for an exact measurment.
  22. I'm going to move the engine back a few inches (maybe a foot) in my new project disco, so whats the best way to cut'n'shut and lengthen the props ? Do they have to be 100% ballanced (on a non road going, off road vehicle) I was thinking of sleaving them on the inside, with a few welds through the tube into the sleave and around the join Any other ideas from a grown up please ?
  23. Thanks for all the link guys, just got to choose one now and set it up properly
  24. A working CB has now made it's way to the top of my want/need list, so any suggestions / experience of a good, basic, idot proof setup ? What should i look for and what do i need. I've already got a long springy aireal and mount. I've been browsing through 4x4cb.com and am now totaly confused
