Well i finally did this work this evening, and am very happy with the results. Not too difficult either

After
Just got to wait for the matching cubby box to arrive now.
Cheers guys, i think i'll change just the covers as the foams are in good shape. will let you know how i get on. If you see a wanted ad for a set of seats then you know it went badly
Well you learn something new everyday, as for the measurements, shouldn't it be the same either side of the spring mount ? so same measurements forward as backwards from the spring mount, and anyway, +/- 20mm is well within land rover tollerence , and shoudn't affect function.
Has anyone had any success with seat re-trim kits? Is the kit doable by a oily fingered spanner monkey or do you need little chinesy girl sewing fingers?
No matter what wheelbase you've got, you'll get stuck eventually, though a longer wheelbase will help you get over small holes, ditches and hill climbs etc. I have a 100" and it does everything i want, more storage space and better ride than a 90, yet not as bulky as a 110 for city driving/parking and in the woods.
I use a hi-lift jack with adapator to break the bead, then my manual tyre changer to take the tyre off, It took me less than 1/2 hour to remove and refit 5 new tyres the other week, including cleaning up the rims.
I've just sprayed a set of alloy wheels with a can of alloy wheel paint and the results are very grey rather than bright silver. I've used a couple of different brands of wheel paint in the past and none have given a real bright silver finish.
Any suggestions on the best paint for the job? i can laqure the wheels after to give them a shine.
Have you mixed it thouroghly ? i've had blue paint which was green until i mixed it for 5 minutes with a drill powered whisk.
As Jason says, try painting with it as paint often dries a different colour.
the paint i use is touch dry in less than half hour outside on a warm day, an hour or so in the garage when i's not warm.
I paint outside on a very still, warm day without cover and not had any problems, or inside if it's cold.
From my experience, i've brush painted 8 landies, and they always look great if done properly.
1. Go to an auto paint supplier and ask for brushing paint. My local stocks Corofast Brushing at about £15/L (need 1-2 ltr to do a full extrernal hartop swb)
2. If the current paint is good, a quick rub over with some wet/dry to take the shine off would be sufficient.
3. Roller / brush needs very little masking, i probably wouldn't do any to paint a roof. Do it on the car is fine.
4. I use a 1" brush and a 4" solid foam roller (not the fluffy ones) Change the roller regularly, i'd say use 2 for just the roof.
Aren't the 300 mounts just flat plates with 2 gussets below ? should be easy enough to cut off a length of flat. I've got some 200 mounts here but they are a different shape.
The springs normaly lean a bit forward, due to land rovers build tollerance!
I fitted a front axle last night, arms attached to the axle, slide it in, jack up the chassis, drop the springs in, dampers down through the chassis and all bolted up, 15 minutes max.
You'll need a defender screen header clamp rail and clamp bolts, above door panels, behind door panels (which i have for sale), hoop set, something to attach your seatbelts to, and maybe the hooks/eyes on the bodywork if they aren't already fited.
I've done a side opeing tailgate, really easy, just but a pair of standard hinges on one side, and a catch on the other.
