  1. I've been slowly building an MPCNC that I plan to use as a plasma table. Initially I've gone for a 500mm sq working area, but it would be very easy to scale up. Time will tell if plastic parts and plasma are a good combination, but others have been successful. For first assembly it's mounted on an MDF board, but would be on a box section steel frame eventually. This could then be placed on whatever frame/trestles are available, so not too hard to store on its side.
  2. Fridge I have one of https://www.warco.co.uk/milling-machines/37-major-gh-milling-machine.html that I intend to part with once my Bridgeport is installed.
  3. Thanks for unearthing that thread from 2020 Geoff. I've looked back to see how I did in 2 years 🤣 What seal kit will you be using Ralph (this was the CSW side windows)? Mine rattle and leak like crazy. The Garrison 4x4 kit is mightyspendy for what you get, and going genuine if such a kit exists seems to offer no great gains. Done in summer 2021. I spent just a few quid on felt strip from Woolies Trim. A very satisfactory result too. No leaks and no rattles any more. A super quick job following the video from Mike at Britannica restorations. Aside from that I need to replace the perished, split and leaking alpine light seals, and the roof needs the ally scab attending to while its apart, and the whole roof re-painting. Still waiting. The seals I bought will probably be perished before hey get fitted. The windscreen seal is just as split and perished so that needs replacing too. The windscreen is so scratched it's hard to see when the sun is in my face, so a new screen, possibly a heated one , is in order. 2 new screens and 1 seal fitted in late 2021. Much drier footwells since. Fit the Mud end-of-dash switch panel I' bought some years ago. Actually done in 2020.
  4. On the 110 Fit the new front door trim cards that I bought last year. Pull front axle apart to investigate the ominous CV joint noises before something catastrophic happens. Paint the rear door I bought off Ross and fitted to the truck years ago to match the other panels. Finish making replacement rear interior trim panels. Weld up the bottom of the OSR side door (it's the last one to do) and fit new windows runners. Find out what's wrong with the TDS9500 winch (FIXED on Sunday 🎉. The brake assembly was rusted together which meant it struggled to do anything even with no load. I had to add this for some satisfaction. Make the V8 run a bit cleaner. The exhaust stinks. I'm sure there's plenty more.
  5. Hence the reason I emphasised the reinforcing plate 👍 10mm plate makes a standard bumper very strong.
  6. My preference is a 50mm ball or a pintle hitch bolted through the bumper, WITH AN APPROPRIATE REINFORCING PLATE BEHIND THE BUMPER. Mine is in line with the driver's side chassis leg for best visibility when I'm maneuvering trailers.
  7. My 110 has a 4.2 these days. Front system is 3.9 RR/Disco Y pipes, going into TD5/Puma centre box, pipes and rear box. Internally it doesn't sound very V8-like. It's actually very pleasant for motorway work. Externally it sounds very different. I've only heard it while others have driven it around the field with a hay trailer and a bit of off roading, but there is no mistaking that it's V8 powered. I had the same system on my 3.9 engined 90 The V8ness was more apparent from the inside given the pipe exit wasn't so far away, plus the auto box makes the engine work in a rather different manner.
  8. Thanks Will. All these years and I'm still learning. You've also given me a Christmas present list idea
  9. Why not try them. If they get all shirty then I'd smell a rat. Personally I'd be more than happy to prove to a buyer that something is what I say it is. My gut is that the description is to help justify a higher selling price.
  10. I've never seen or heard of one before, although a quick Google image search brings up plenty of them. Clearly many visual design cues carried over to the Ibex.
  11. It looks like a reasonably tidy 300Tdi 90 hard top that is fitted with Landrover's Freestyle alloy wheels which were an option of the day, or easily retrofitted if say salvaged from an old Discovery 1. Someone has swapped the vinyl Defender badge on the rear for a pressed aluminium one from a Series vehicle. I can't see anything to back up their claims. The 50th anniversary models, as with other limited editions all carry a series number plaque. We had a 110 'Silver' edition at one point and that had Special Vehicles build plaques on the seat box. If this was anything special I'd be highlighting the evidence to prospective buyers. I note that in one paragraph the ad says '50th anniversary spec'. This I don't get at all. The 50th was a petrol V8, automatic transmission with a custom centre console, station wagon body painted in Atlantis blue, had a semi external roll bar and had the Freestyle alloys and 265 BFG tyres and came in. The only similar feature the truck for sale has is the wheels. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but I am highly dubious that this is anything more than a smart looking 300 Tdi 90. You could always ask the seller for evidence to back up their claim
  12. I have never heard of such a model. AFAIK all 50th Anniversary models were 4 litre V8 engined 90s. According to Wiki a total 1071 50th anniversary Defenders were built; 385 for the UK home market, Picture here is from Google. There is an owners group https://www.defender50th.co.uk/ so I would ask there perhaps. Also a Faceache group for this model,https://www.facebook.com/groups/726924764102357 There was the 200 Tdi engined soft topped 90 SV bult in the early 1990s but only 90 of those were made. Could it be that you are thinking of?
  13. And the requisite dexterity and understanding of drill point geometry . Where I did my apprenticeship we had a Dormer drill grinder, which made a beautiful job of big drills. Anything under 13mm I'd do by hand.
  14. I have always found exhaust systems sound noisier after a new box is fitted. The accumulated rust and carbon deposits add a fair amount to the sound deadening capabilities of the old box. Like Ross has suggested - look out for 2nd hand new take off stuff. Original LR exhaust parts last a long time (compared to a replacement). I picked up a rear 2/3 (centre silencer inc pipes and rear box) of a Td5/Puma system for both my 90 and later on the 110 from auto jumbles. Both had the LR name embossed in them along with part numbers.
  15. This is my arrangement. On/off switch / pair of USB sockets / 12v power socket. There is a fat wire in the loom that is a permanent live. I'm afraid I cannot remember what colour it was.
  16. My 10 YO daughter told me the other day that she is learning TinkerCAD at school. I have yet to have a look at it, but guessing it's easy enough to learn. I've only ever used pro CAD packages.
  17. I have an Ender 3v2 and have been hugely impressed by it. It's my first foray into FDM printing, and for a newbie it really has been plug in and print. A rather different construction compared to the Ender 5. I've put maybe 3kg through it including printing parts for an MPCNC project. No failed prints yet using Creality's own brand PLA.
  18. That's looking good so far. I'm looking forward to seeing your finish printed cover. What printer have you used? Good effort on the al-fresco painting too. Mr Soup@Shackletonknows how much fun this is. One thing I am not so keen on is the use of just 4 pop rivets to hold the bracket to the door. I'd be concerned they might work loose over time. I fitted a homebrew gas strut to my old 90, but at the top of the door. I used a couple of M6 rivnuts into the frame, but I guess that makes kits like this less accessible. I think most LR DIYers own a pop rivet gun.
  19. It's mind boggling to think what Google Translate would make of Oink and Innit
  20. I had to read that first sentence a few times to consider the best interpretation. My first thought was well of course I'd hope it's made of metal, as opposed to say plastic components. Then I thought ah- he means bits of metal - that ought not to be there. Little nasty sharp slivers of swarf, debris etc. Yep, that would put me off too.
  21. I saw these photos elsewhere this week. The rear end made my think of one of the Volvo SUV offerings.
  22. Good heavens! All that for a garage! I've seen factory floors made of far less.
  23. Many many real ones, and one of the stickers 😁
