I simply bolted my LT77 straight to the back of my 300Tdi. OK, we had to miss out a couple of bolts etc but, it's been in there 4 years now with no problem.

First check you have power at the headlight for the dipped beam. If not there is a break somewhere between the headlamp and the switch. If you have power at the headlamp check the connections are clean and free from rust/oxidisation.

They were actually in a group. If you read the article, you will see that other members of the group had to go 3 miles to the nearest farmer as there was no mobile phone coverage.

I would suggest calling Frogs Island. I think the guys name is Eddie. They would probably advise some OME progressive springs and OME Nitrocharger dampers (shocks). I had these fitted to my Discovery and they were very good. The Discovery was usua;yy very lightly loaded except when we did trips to Morroco and Libya etc. They coped very well unloaded and loaded up for a long trip.

As Les and others have said Prestolite are cr&p. I fitted 3 to my Discovery and they all broke within a month or so. Finally coughed up and purchased a Bosch one. Never had a problem since. Shame yours is a 300 Tdi as I have a reconditioned V8 one at home, it's not prestolite either, I think it's Magneti Marrreli.

Not sure if it applies here but P38's used to have problems with hot starts. Problem was caused by fuel draining back to the tank. Maybe you have the same problem when parked facing uphill. LR fix was to insert a one way valve into the fuel line to prevent the fuel draining back.

Defender 90 300Tdi 1996.
When driving along and you turn the wheel you get a rhythmic thumping sound. Sounds like a tyre thumping. It's all OK when the wheels are straight. It has happened on 3 different sets of wheels and tyres.
Checked so far :
No play in the wheel bearings - Tested by trying to rock between 6 and 12
No play in swivel hubs - checked by trying to rock between 3 and 9
Next to check is all bushes. An aquitance suggested it may be the cv joints. Anyone agree?

I like the idea of a Forum get together. Be nice to put some faces to names. As for the rest, if the Forum is doing well enough then don't change it. When we had a request (long while ago when we moved to a dedicated server) I was quite happy to put in a few quid.
Ivan
Could we just not have a public declaration of how the forum is doing ? E.g.
Income +X
Server Rental -Y
Tony's Gin Fund -Z
etc.
No need to give out bank details etc.

I have a pair from Mill Services. Never been fitted. Purchased them for my Series III but abandoned the project. Send me a PM and we can discuss it. They are for a SWB.

Also 200Tdi mate to an LT77 gearbox. The 300Tdi's have an R380. I don't think it's straight forward swop. As said above sell the 200 and rebuild the 300 with the money.

I use Kaspersky as well. Used to have Norton but when it expired I could not renew it as their website kept screwing up!! So I tried to delete it and it would not delete off the machine. Eventually I got a new machine and would not touch Norton with someone elses bargepole let alone my own. Kaspersky is also what we use at work. Had absolutely no problems with it.

I have a set of tyreplyers that I got in Australia. However, I have never used the beadbreaker, just use a Hi Lift off the front of the car to break the bead. I must admit though the tyreplyers kit is very comprehensive and usefull.

Hopefully you haven't swopped the doors yet. ISTR that on my 200 Disco the wiring for the central locking was already there. Even though it did not have central locking. The 200 workshop manual (2 parts) has the wiring diagrams in it. I just looked up the colour of the wires and checked they were there. Not sure about the electric mirrors though. If they were fitted to the 200 Series then the wiring will already be there.
