Clutch change, built a scaffold to lower the boxes out, changed the clutch, got it all back together again.
Having a faff getting the slave cylinder back in, the pushrod ended up in the bottom of the bellhousing.......
after trying and failing to fish it out, i ended up dropping the boxes again.
I paid £15 for two.
didn't even have to take them off, there were about 10 of them in the back of an estate, i couldn't decide which was in the best condition - hence two.
The guy dug out some lengths of wire and let me test them before handing the cash over too.
The red/black lump is a set of splitting diodes. they'll be taking 0.7v off each battery, which will do them no good at all.
I'd remove it and fit a VSR or switched relay (like x-eng's relay).
has your co-driver got enough room?
I'm planning to stick an IP rated box in the passengers foot well for all the relays, wiring etc, the rad's going in the back.
FWIW, with my 'other forum' hat on, we use Frappr on LRBoards - page here
You can be as (un)specific as you like, in fact you can be where ever you want!!
It's very easy to integrate into a page - took me about 10 minutes, most of which was pulling the suitable files out of phpBB - the observant among us will notice i never finished the alterations 100%!

I'm with Al on this one - don't see any sense in putting the drop boxes near the diff. drop boxes at the wheel end lift the diff and the whole axle tube relative to the ground, (which is what you're after all along), whilst making the halfshafts 'stronger' by virtue of the drop box ratio.
And squared paper rocks!!

A diesel will hardly get warm at idle, especially in this weather with the bonnet up. When i've had to fill the coolant on my 200tdi it's taken a good 15 mins with the throttle wedged.
Mis-matched senders and gauges won't work either - you need to fit the TD sender, or fit a new aftermarket gauge and sender. they are matched pairs and won't read at all accurately mis-matched.
