..and as if by magic I just hapen to have a screen capture of that very scene...

ICIA.jpg

PS: Ice Cold In Alex was released in 1958. details here. ;)

That desert town was actually Tripoli in Libya where most of it was filmed. That scene was Algeria square near the Post Office (stood on the spot last year [sad Git]) although it was supposed to be Alexandria in Egypt for the storyline. Good film though!

Series at the end of Bad Boys 2 as well... B)

that's the one where a Series can chase (or escape? ) a hummer, isn't it? very funny!!

I'll add the Series on "The Interpreter" (in the beggining, if I remember correctly) and "The Constant Gardener" (the rolled-over vehicle on the lake where/when Rachel Weisz's character dies)

would you trust land rover body work to srop a bullet?

No! I have seen one that was in a shoot up here about 6 or 7 years ago and 9mm pistol rounds go right through from side to side so you can forget stopping anything bigger!

That LR in 'Ice cold in Alex' is the most famous of the lot.

I saw 'Exodus' a while back, and the Brit Army was all in j33ps, which is correct for 1948. In fact that film did not have a single anacronism that I could spot.

My wife thinks I am sad. I spotted post-war metal collapsible chocks used in 'A Bridge too Far' with Dakotas. Well, it keeps me happy...

Matthew McConaughey drives J-Lo around in a Disco in 'The Wedding Planner'

Will also drives a Disco in Will & Grace (can you tell who owns the TV zapper in our house?)

There's a S111 lightweight in one of the 'Take That' videos (told you she monopolizes the TV!) :(

Went to see Underworld Evolutions yesterday - mmmmm Kate Bekinsale.... drives a modified Range Rover in it.

You'll just have to combine the two in your head unless anyone has a screen shot:

underworld_evolution2.jpg

Another thing is the Rangie is indestructable - it gets attacked by warewolves (or sumfink) who slam into it, and in the fight that follows people get chucked into it, heads smashed through windows, etc. and then the next scene it's driving down the mountian not a scratch on it

This is were I am sad.

In one scene the RRC becomes a Nissan Patrol for a 4-5 sec clip as it drive up to the lab.

I'm very sad with films sorry

[anorak mode]just been having a nostagia kick with a DVD of 633 Squradron, superb flying scenes & a bit poignant for me, my uncle was killed in Mosquitos during the war ( he was a navigator). Just after the scene where a Mosquito crashes during training (flew into a cliff) but what do the observing officers run toward? None other than a Swb S1 soft top. I've seen heaps of mentions of the S1 in "Ice Cold in Alex" but never seen this one mentioned B4.[/anorak mode]

Had to share that :D:D

Smallville season 2 — again not good publicity; this time parked in front of a crazy scientist — the one with the obsession with meteorites —'s barn [apparently belonging to him] although kudos in that a 110 must have transported a spaceship

Went and saw Casino Royale yesterday, excellent film BTW, but plenty of LR product placement there, 3x Td5 110 CSW's in the openning scenes, few other rangies and defenders throughout the film.

tidy! :D
