Guest diesel_jim
Wonder if the defenders will come with "curry hooks" in them like the disco?
BogMonster
Wonder if the defenders will come with "curry hooks" in them like the disco? The curry hook is a very useful thing for little shopping bags, never had a curry on it yet but I have often thought about trying to find somewhere to put one in the Defender
yellow
My Defenders are from 1983 and 1985 and will remain Land Rover... What's done is done, no turning back the clock... Might have to go to a Tata dealer to get parts though....
smo
Great, might be good for the workers (until they ship manufacture abroad!) but its certainly not good for the vehicle development or brand image!
Mo Murphy
Tata have an even worse reputation for quality than Land Rover ! Mo

BIG DAN T
Sorry to be pedantic but they didn't make Defenders in 1983 or 1985!

LR90
Funny but I'm not so uncomfortable with Tata. They're a major engineering force and to my mind would help take land rover back to its roots of simple repairable vehicle. Much like I'd be quite happy buying an Indian built Enfield (though I'd prefer a moto guzzi). If the quality is poor it will keep the aftermarket SMEs in business selling replacement engines, gearboxes, chassis,... for may many years to come, LRs reputation for having a high percentage of all vehicles ever produced still on the road will be maintained and I'll continue to be able to get spares for my older (genuine) land rovers
gelf
i build the D3 seats for a living......... TATA came around our factory to look at the seats to see if they were suitable for their range of 4x4's......... and basicly said that the quality of the seats was not good enough to have them in their cars!! BiggerBaloo
I don't know if it's true or not, but I've just heard that TATA have just bought Land Rover. How do you think this will affect future Land Rovers? (Have you ever seen a decent TATA 4x4???)

BIG DAN T
I lived in India for a while a few years back and remember that quality controll is very poor. A friend had 4 Enfield motorbikes (ok not made by TATA) before getting one that the big ends would stay in or the crank wouldn't twist. This is down to everything being made or recycled materials (most of the worlds scrap goes to India and China) and they seem to be bad at sepparating the materials before they go to be reused , everyting steel is melted down together and used for whatever. Mo Murphy
They weren't Defenders until 1990. Prior to that they were Nineties and Onetens and then 90 and 110. The defender name came with the 200 Tdi engine. Hope that clarifies OK Nice website and shop BTW Mo
western
I thought they started in 84? 110 started in late 83' on A plates though some very early 110's can be found on Y plates, 90's came in '84, the Defender name wasn't in until 1990 with the intro of the 200Tdi into the range.
