Stevie D
Any body runing these - had a good offer on some on my quest for a good deal on BFG's in all the local tyre places, what are they like, look like they may well be noisy on the road, worth buying or hold out for the BFG's? Thanks, Steve
NicTheOrange90
I had some on my 90, performed well and were cheapish. I only changed them as I wanted to bling the 90 and got some larger BFG MTs which are bigger dia so give that little extra ground clearance. I used my set off road a couple of times and as satisfied with ther performance (I still got stuck mind).

Les Henson
I drove a 90 with G90's on for a while and they were awful on a side slope. Not bad in the mud/climbs etc, but there are better tyres out there. Les.
GBMUD
If you want a BFG then I would suggest that a G90 might disappoint. You will find that tyre dealers will often price match so keep playing them off against one another till you get a good deal. I do not know where you are Stevie D but I found a local place that was as keen as any of the "specialists" that advertise in the mags. JST
G90s are an ok compromise tyre i used to run them as an off road set, as Les said there are better tyres on side slops and wet tarmac driving can be interesting but they are OK. i would save the money though and get a set of BFGs. Sean
you'l find they are sooooooo noisy on tarmac picked up a near new set on very clean rims from ebay for £50 the other day, can't go wrong for that price
Guest diesel_jim
I used to have a set.... great when new, pants when part worn. I much prefer (in 7.50 flavour) michelin XZL or XCL or general SAG cross ply... thats a great tyre off road, although not as good on tarmac. as has been said, BFG MT is good. Guest WALFY
As said above. Brill when new but when old or 1/3 worn forget it. Very soft compound. Save your money and buy something decent for your truck. Unless you can get the G90 for silly money stay away.
Mo Murphy
Hold out for BFGs, I've been delighted with mine, on and off road over the last 18 months Mo
Stevie D
Cheers folks - didn't think it was such a good deal - weird looking tread as well. Think it has to be bfg's. Steve
alantd
Do a search - a post recently about tyre choices. Coopers are also very popular with those that have them.
muddy
255/85 r16 is an awsome size if you can get it i'd hold out for the bfgs too.
stageonesimmo
Had G90's on my company cars for years now - don't know about them being noisy - not noticed that, mind you I was used to XCL/ZXL so I may already be deaf to it. In the wet G90s are horrible especially under braking (think 110 FFR and Trl Lwt full of kit and the normal stopping distance, then at least double it) Out of all the above I'd go for ZXLs every time - excellent tyre all round. I've currently got BFGs on the Disco and swear by 'em so I'd be with everyone else and say save your money and give it to BFG......... Eightpot
I never had a probem with G90's in the wet, but they weren't all that hot in the mud. Surprisingly good in sand though for a skinny tyre. Mine didn't wear all that well, there isn't a great deal of rubber in contact with the road with this pattern, and they are VERY noisy on the motorway at higher speeds - 70mph plus. I've changed to cooper STT's now and am very pleased so far, still a bit noisy at high speed but it's not so much of a high frequency howl, and I'm a bit more confident with the added width and amount of rubber in contact with the road. Haven't really tried them in mud, but on rough north african pistes they were great (only one very slight cut in a thousand very harsh volcanic stone miles at high speed) and in sand they were good aired down despite a fairly stiff sidewall.
