smokinv8
Anybody got some good advice on what seats will fit into a 90? My OE ones are a bit tired now and I want to replace them with something a bit more supportive for offroading but which ones fit with the littlest amount of modifying? I have seen on here about Rover 220gti ones but you try finding some!! Im not worried about battery access as Im going to modify that anyway. landroversforever
When the 90 is fixed, you can have a look at my Scoobie ones if you want Neil

heath robinson
There's a porsche (The front engined one with a gurt bulbous arse, the 928 s4) that has what I think are the perfect seats for a landy. The v8 in it might not be too bad in a 90 either...
jbs
Neil have a look here this bloke is breaking one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/rover-220-coupe-tomcat-turbo-breaking-gti-216-/120566171157?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c124dc615#ht_500wt_1182 John
RaDi90Hybrid
Neil, I put escort RS Turbo ones in mine, very comfy (for a 90 driving position anyway), I just bolted some steel to the runners and bolted the steel to the seatbox. Another option a friend has done is Discovery 200TDi seats, they also went in quite easily. On both of these the batteries were relocated to the back though. reb78
RRC front seats or IIRC the rear bench fits quite nicely across the front of a
western
or get some new seat back & base foams from ExmoorTrim, I fitted 2 seat base foams to my front seats much better than the old ones, more supportive too.

smokinv8
Yes they do! Pete That does fit well. Is the 4x2 part of the install or is it a/ Bonnet prop b/ Starter motor accessory or c/ Anti road-rage device?
Mean Green
Are there any MOT or insurance issues using non-standard seats?
series3100
Mazda MX5 seats are going in my 90. Ideal cos they're not too chunky but quite comfy... oh and they have speakers in the head rests Brian
Dinkydave
If you want to do the RRC 2nd row thing I won a complete set of seats on ebay yesterday. I only wanted the front seats so you can have mine if you want. Don't want anything for them.
landroversforever
I think the RRC second row ones would be lovely and comfy... but don't think they would offer any support...

Thanks very much for the offer Dave but I have a cubby box fitted and dont want to lose that so wont be going with a bench seat idea. heath robinson
Maybe take a mooch around a scrappy, armed with a tape-measure, and peer into the weirder cars to be found there. I recently drove an Izuzu Piazza (The 80's on wheels, but rwd, and a 2L turbo, and suspension by lotus ) and if they weren't brown veloo-err, the seats would have been pretty good in a landy. Typical aint it, up till last year my neighbour had 1 of them rusting away on his drive but got rid of all his junk to a scrappy along with about 3 other cars. Dont think Ive ever seen one of those Piazzas on the road.
heath robinson
Me neither, this one's the only one I've ever seen. Goes like the proverbial off a garden implement too... The guy wants £755 for it, and I must say that I was sorely tempted. It also has the coolest dash I've seen in a while - movable sides to the binnacle house all the switch gear, not a stalk in sight. It's a bit weird being in an auto with a turbo, but the torque converter lets the engine get into the boost, then you get a quite disconcerting linear acceleration, until everything becomes a blur... landrover598
I've fitted both disco and rangy classic seats into defenders, I have RRC in my everyday defender and must say they are very comfy, and even have arm rests
Dinkydave
I had to take the arm rests off of mine. Couldn''t get the cubby box in while they were on.
smokinv8
Well Ive found some nice seats that look like they'l do the job and they came off a rolled MGZS (had to clean the glass and mud off 1st!), nice flat subframes, so will post up a piccy when done. landroversforever
it wasn't one that had a lamp post in the drivers door was it?
smokinv8
it wasn't one that had a lamp post in the drivers door was it? No, drivers side was fine just had light frontal and flipped on its roof. No "claret" in there, as the scrappy put it!!
