Andy
i dont understand people with stock 4x4s who dont use them, they make carp road cars really. let alone people who just bling them up to use on tarmac. sod off & tart up a scooby etc for all those with fuzzy eyes - IT SAYS TAKEN WITH A FONE NOT SCANNED

dirtydiesel
i dont understand people with stock 4x4s who dont use them, they make carp road cars really. I have a stock 4x4 that i use as road car, and as carp as it might be i can drive through floods in it,a bit of snow doesn't bother it, and it tows supurbly and i can usually get my caravan/trialler whever i want it on a site. I personally don't understand people who bolt a load of stuff on to there cars then think they're indestructable off-road gods. But hey it takes allsorts

pugwash
if it floats his boat then cool, not my idea of fun but he's not hurting anyonegod Im so nice can i be sick now anyway i think he has considerably increased the damage the vehicle will do to another vehicle or car having fitted bumpers, roll cages lifts and all that gubbins. Let alone having increased the enviromental impact. normally i don't give a carp either- but it is funny to have gone to those lengths but spend all your time polishing it! little nay
sorry guys, if you want a bling 4x4 get an itchipussi thingy. if you want a real off roader then it has to be a oandy thro and thro! and they are that good you don't need to spent thousands to use them proper like! ther is realy no point in adding a load of stuff to a truck unless you are gonna use it and that's comming from a girlie! jjojjas
Id expect better from you lot. Whats the point of having a Yam R1? where the hell are you going to ride on the road legally in the UK with that amount of power and it'll be "fun? Whats the point of an Audi Quatro? Two wheel drive makes you go forward and backwards just as well for regular driving, why buy a bloody lexus/jag/whatever when you can get to work in a diesel corsa just as well, come to think of it, use the bus! or cycle you lazy sods. He's got a 90 BECAUSE HE LIKES THEM !!!!!!!!!!!!! He polishes it BECAUSE HE THINKS ITS GREAT!!!!!! He's spent a fortune on it BECAUSER HE BLOODY CAN!!!!!!!!!! tis called choice, and I for one hope he continues to do it, so that in 10 year time when some lucky bugger buys it it'll be in great condition compared to the stuff that you "off-road" rough buggers pass on... Top90
You're not a closet greenpeace member are you? After all, people who don't go off road should not have a 4x4. Seriously though, now defenders are cool this will happen quite often as people want 'the look'. If its thier money and choice let 'em get on with it. roguevogue
Look at it this way, these people are a great source of quality, little or unused kit and cars, I think the world needs more people like this to take the hit of initial depreciation. Happyoldgit
Personally I couldn't care less what he has done with his vehicle, what he uses it for or why. Perhaps the scorn being directed at this chap could be better channelled bearing in mind all the cr@p and misinformation concerning 4x4's thrown around in the press and amongst some of the environmental groups. United we stand and all that.
missingsid
My boss runs a late model 90 in the UK(don’t know what sort of smoky engine is fitted as I only do V8), he never uses it off road and has had it altered by JE (lower, faster, more smoke?), however he is from SA and disappears into deserts and mountain ranges back home but loves Defenders/Series LR. He tried a Freelander and ordinary cars but likes driving a LR (obviously a pervert, probably reads this forum so he will know who I am oops). The front hoop fitted to the LR in the mag looks the same as my bosses which I believe is a LR factory fit? It does not seem to be attached to anything inside other than the roof? I might be wrong but if this is the case, then LR are just as guilty of perpetuating the fashion?
istruggle2gate11
Live and Let Live The guys not hurting anybody, hes happy, the cost of bolts on's is (in theory) going to be cheaper because of multiples of people like this, more pay and play sites are opening up (and staying open) because of this trend and its great fun to see one turn up at a trial and be bewildered that a Suzi SJ has just wooped him (but I do agree that the comics are becoming a very bland read of shiny trucks with bolt on's, their is still a large motorsport side to 4x4's which is virtually never covered, I think LRO gave the nationals ½ a page!) United we stand and all that. or maybe, just maybe, these cars actually fuel the greenies as an example of a polluting wasteful vehicle used in a foreign enviroment. I'm all for cars being used to their capabilities but against cars wasting fuel, money and resources just becuase you think it looks nice. I just don't get the point of blinging up your car. Period. Be it a saxo, an MB S500 or a 90. Whats the point? it's just shallow frippery and something i just don't get. Still waiting for someone to justify it. And "because you want to" is not a justification.
dollythelw
And "because you want to" is not a justification. oh yes it is Voltaire said I may not agree with your views but I will fight to my own death to protect your freedom to express them be careful Pugwash - 2 seater soft tops arent exactly practical, the moral police will be out for everyone that doesnt conform to the perfect model of blandness
BogMonster
And "because you want to" is not a justification. Yes it is. I have my boat because I want to. I have no actual requirement whatsoever for a boat beyond the fact that I want one, I enjoy it, and I could afford it at the time. It burns vastly more fuel than a V8 at fun speed, even if that is only every other weekend or something. But anybody that says I shouldn't have it because they don't agree with this or that or blah can # off!

And "because you want to" is not a justification. I don't have to justify anything to you, I do as I like, don't seek your approval or expect you to seek mine. If we were all the same life would be dull. Communism attempts to force all to the lowest common denominator, except for the few at the top, bit like the current government, look what they are doing to any individual that wants to be different. Eg. the loss of offroad routes etc. etc. They want to control every aspect of what we do. I believe this forum is about being a free sprit, do as you like, live and let live, based on LR ownership/interest. John
pugwash
perhaps justify is the wrong word. explain would be more suitable. i just don't understand this mindset- i wouldn't dream of trying to stop him- as everyone has said it's an "alledgedly" free society. I wholeheartedly agree with Voltaire's maxim. I still don't get it though. bog you have a boat- and you use it as a boat. i have a sportscar and use it as a sportscar. Jez you have..........something and use it any way you can. He has an offroader and uses it as a...........road car. And has spent thousands into the bargain. This is just as illogical as spending £100,000 on a escort cosworth to get it to go quick, rather that can just going out and buy a TVR. (saw this on Vroom Vroom last night) I'm not saying this guy shouldn't do it- i just want to be able to relate to that mindset and at the moment i can't. why waste all that money on something that doesn't do a very good job? it's like buying a jeep rather a land rover
dollythelw
I can understand what you are saying but just like women/haynes manuals/politicians - some things are sent just to confuse us, life would be truly dull if everything made sense?
