Big.Mike
http://www.rivetwise.co.uk/rivets/rivet-nuts.asp?product=well-nut-44 I need to mount a bracket to my seat box, has anyone used these fixings before? I want it to have as little vibration as possible, do these work? Thanks, Mike
landroversforever
Yes they work. Also referred to as Riv-nuts or nutserts. Just make sure the hole is a snug fit for the rivnut. Using the proper tool (rather than just a bolt) makes it so much easier.
miketomcat
Otherwise known as rivnuts work very well are a little limited on strength ie not as good as a nut but they are captive.can spin if not fitted correctly or cross threaded. FridgeFreezer
If you read the linked page closely they're NOT like normal rivnuts, they're squishable rubber top-hats with a brass insert, so a slightly different prospect to Rivnuts or Nutserts: I've used them before (Rawlplugs sell them) to mount small panels etc., wouldn't use them for very heavy things. Big.Mike
Yeah, they're not riv-nuts or nutserts; I've got them up the yingyang... It's not for anything heavy. I'll get some to try.
miketomcat
I stand corrected the joys of mobile internet (page wouldn't load) but I have used them also and my reply still stands. Mike
Superpants
I've used them for small brackets, which the work well for. There are quarter turn types about, although not sure who supplys them.
landroversforever
Apologies! I also didn't read the link! Not used them sorry.
Team Idris
The rivnuts come in ally or steel. I like the ally ones, as it's less work to pull them up, and they are easier to drill out if it goes wrong.
Mo Murphy
These came supplied with the in car mounting kit for my Waeco cf50 fridge. They have survived 2 years and 2 foreign trips full of beer, water and Red Bull so they can't be that bad Mo
simonr
I have some, supplied by http://www.memfast.co.uk/ and they were fantastic! I used them as anti-vibration motor mounts and they worked really well! Si
cactus
We use them to mount the Press Button boxes to traffic Light poles. They weigh a couple of Kilos and, in over 25 years,I've never seen a PB box dangleing by the wires!!!
