western
other than delete the threads with non working image links there's not much else we can do about them, the text in those threads still gives a good feel for the work involved. so a bit reluctant to delete all that info. CwazyWabbit
I agree with Ralph on this one, perhaps the best we can do is to add a note to the index that pictures are missing. You never know, the next person to follow the guide may be benevolent enough to redo the pictures?
need4speed
True. If the OP is still around, maybe see if they still have the pics available to reload? A lot of them have prob disappeared mind you.
Happyoldgit
Just to add - thats a huge amount of work hours and commitment done / being done / to be contuniued By Mr Ralphy for us and LR4x4 - Top Job Sir Seconded. Thanks Ralph, Neil and everyone who has contributed ideas and material
western
Currently going through the 11 pages of Tech Archive to weed out any threads with dead/non working links to sites off LR4x4.com. If those with threads linked to tech archive could have a look & restore any missing photo's that would be brilliant.
need4speed
..I had a long list of suitable threads in my head the other day and now I can't remember them! I know exactly what you mean.. I have no doubt Ralph will pick up on them
V8 Freak
X-brake as a popular modification and some information in this thread about adjustment and pad wear etc... http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=92498
CwazyWabbit
Just an idea maybe worth considering? I was reading through Sams axle rebuild thread recently and came across his brake pipe modification whereby he fitted a stainless flexi brake pipe rather than the copper pipe to the front calipers to make certain jobs a lot easier. This is a great little mod that i never thought of........ Any suggestions how we link to this one? http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=91867 The brake line stuff is buried quite far into two rather large posts in that thread, my guess is we link to the thread and add a note to scroll a long way to see the bits you want? It should be included as after all it was the catalyst for the index in the first place
need4speed
..It should be included as after all it was the catalyst for the index in the first place Thanks Barry. At least someone recognised that... Im sure the elected mod will be along shortly to sort it out.
western
I will get on it when home from work this evening Keep the links coming
western
Popular Modification forum as it looks now http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=92553 Note it is Locked, but readable
eds
Headlight Upgrade..... http://landytown.myfastforum.org/about7578.html Might need adopting!
western
all the above added so far, keep the links coming. it's your forum so time for you all to help me set this sub forum up.
eds
How about converting rear drums to discs...... I was wondering whether the links are that important......... Could not just the information be presented and then a link to the search results be given, such as For the wiper relay...... wiper relay defender site:lr4x4.com https://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=chrome-psyapi2&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8&q=wiper%20relay%20defender%20upgrade%20site%3Alr4x4.com Then all the links dead or alive would not become stale.................. It seems to me that the current way is not that future proof.......... I would think that it is more important to be food for thought rather than solution after solution. Then it would be far easier to manage and could be definitive. More like an index to modifications which are then solved via multiple threads on the forum. People are intelligent enough to want to cross reference modification solutions anyway.
western
trouble is Google will look for non relevant threads too, for instance in the google link above the wiper stuff is there & non relevant headlight wiring.
eds
I do see your point but hoped people would sort the wheat from the chaff! It was supposed to give people a hint to think about rather than a solution.......
western
point taken in good faith & cheers for pointing it out.
eds
That came out wrong, what I meant to say was that an index of popular modifications could lead the searcher to some hints/solutions via google search results and not a direct link to an answer. Not me getting edgy about how my ideas were going down!!!! Sorry!
western
no problem, think I understood what you meant anyway.
discomikey
will technical issue diagnosis how to's be included in this or are they for the generap tech archive?
need4speed
Im hoping they will be for general tech. My thought was to have a sub section for modifications only. Not maintenance/general jobs.
CwazyWabbit
I agree Phil, diagnosis type stuff is definitely tech archive.
western
Lets keep popular modifications to just that otherwise it'll be duplicating the tech archive
Bowie69
On that note, does this fit in, or not, given that MS is already a modification? http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?s=5a7d9edc39e52f5278f204c09eefcf74&showtopic=92602&hl=
need4speed
Id think that should stay within MS sub section. Otherwise that might open a huge can of worms...
