henk
Any objections to put a diff with arb from rear axle in front axle?
Team Idris
Other than popping cv's I have none. Don't boot it on full lock especially backward!
landroversforever
My only concern would be how much use its had in the back? It will whine until the gears bed in for the other direction.
miketomcat
I must admit I've never had any problems with normal diffs which ever end they've gone in. Mike
landroversforever
Interesting Mike, the standard diff I put in the front of the 90 whined, and it was previously a rear one. No excessive wear or backlash in it.
miketomcat
I'm probably a bit deaf. Mike
Hybrid_From_Hell
Rear into front means when everything has worn bedded in and learnt to one way it gets a smack around the head and is then driven completely opposite. ..
Cynic-al
So your saying that you can get twice as much wear life by swapping front to back. Should this be done as part of a service like swapping tyres around Must admit I've just shoved stock diffs in wherever needed without thinking where they've come from, but mine was that noisy I certainly wouldn't be concerned by a whine! The only problem I've had is not being able to get the steering damper bolts in one that's been on the back as the holes have gone all crusty. tuko
I'm another person who you can add to the list of not having any problems with interchanging diff's.
Mo Murphy
As am I. I've always just bought "a" diff and never known which end its come from. Never had one whine so now I feel left out ? Mo
