need4speed
So someone (who shall remain nameless) said to me "yes Phil you can use your TDI air bin for your V8, they are exactly the same size......" No. No there not..... Lol Need to find out if Nige still has some used ones in stock.
Bowie69
Hmmm, glad it wasn't me! Can you not just shorten the straps easily enough? The engine bay is cramped enough as it is without adding the V8 dustbin into the equation.
need4speed
No your not to blame Bowie. For a change.......... Yes it would be easy enough to shorten the straps but the differences don't seem to end with the size of the thing. The TDI one must be a different shape to the V8 one as well because it doesn't seem to sit right in the standard V8 brackets no matter what bloody way I turn it... dangerous doug
Just a bigger bin than the tdi isn't it? I have the tdci air box if you want to use that instead? Panel filter and sits over the wing
need4speed
Thanks for the offer Doug. I'd like to stick to standard setup though. God knows it took me long enough to find those bloody mounting brackets at a price that meant I didn't have to sell a kidney....
tacr2man
filtration intake restriction using the tdi unit might not be a good idea anyway
mickeyw
Phil - is that engine in standard Defender position? When I fitted my Efi engine, I found the intake for the Defender V8 dustbin fouled on the back of the plenum. One day I'll fit it, but it'll need surgery first. For now though I'm using the much smaller RRC air filter.
FridgeFreezer
If that's a 200TDi bin I could be rather interested in swapping a V8 bin with you
need4speed
John I believe it is a 200 version. I will check part number for you after dinner.. Mikey yes it is in standard v8 position. At least it is if my measurements were correct
need4speed
Actually John a quick look at my original pic reveals that it's ESR2102, which alas makes it a 300 version I think Is there much difference? Would you be willing to sell your V8 bin? I can't see if Nige has any as his site is closed? Cheers

FridgeFreezer
I don't suppose that's similar enough to be compatible with the 200Tdi filters? I'm aiming to have the same filter on both vehicles, the 109 has a Defender 200TDi one (RTC6660?).
need4speed
I'm really not sure how similar they are. Maybe Ralph could say. Are you using your v8 one?
western
IIRC 300 filter elements are a bit longer than defender 200tdi ones.
DavidW
I'm just jealous of your v8 brackets! Where did you find them?
need4speed
Dirtyninety on this forum very kindly sold them to me for a song. Even blasted them for me. I was very fortunate. I had been looking for a long time. You can get all the bracketry from LR but it's £££
