  1. Hmm odd ! I spoke to someone who has a 2001 Td5 and tells me that has tubeless steel wheels.
  2. Anyone know when they started fitting tubeless steel wheels? Was it when the Td5 came in?
  3. I’ve ended up with a pair of Glencoyne mounts - which would need cutting to fit, and I’ve used those on the gearbox. They actually look like the V8 mounts I’ve then also got a pair of smaller Bearmach round ones - like the petrol series ones, they do fit, and are as nice and soft as the Glenn Coyne ones. Unfortunately in addition I’ve a range of other mounts - of assorted brands, that are rock hard that I bought before I ended up with the ones listed above. Feels like a bit of a lottery.
  4. ^ this I’ve also checked my Dad’s old cars 😊
  5. ^ That was my take on it. If mine had been stolen I’d rather they asked the questions and I stand half a chance of getting it back.
  6. It does look beautiful - I can imagine the only downside to having a diesel heater will be not wanting to go home ....
  7. I don’t know about the lever travel - but my friend runs a 300tdi exhaust manifold and turbo on a 200 and it works fine, if that’s any reassurance ? 😊
  8. Broken terminal on the live side .. So an easy fix other than the fiddly job of getting the broken tab out of the female connector on the loom.
  9. Is it worth trying a general forum like retro rides?
  10. How well do they circulate the air? A lot of installations seem to only use the single vent...
  11. Thanks guys - I’d have hated to have gone to the trouble and expense of fitting one and then still been cold !
  12. That conversation on mig welding seems to state that you need an awful lot of kw (5-7?) to heat a car that’s moving when it’s cold outside ..... what’s folks views on that here? I am planning on using a Diesel air heater as my sole heater in my Series, which will have a canvas top ..... is that not realistic?
  13. 80m !! 😳 and good idea on the forum donation. James has said he might be heading down to summerset in the spring ...
  14. The Pf Jones chap sells the planar type too - https://www.pfjones.co.uk/planar-2d-12-tm-air-heater-12v.html The reviews are worth reading.
  15. Thanks both. The odd thing seemed to be that it worked fine, bulb went, pop new bulb in - and a there’s a fault. Bulb did appear to have gone through water ingress - so maybe there is some corrosion in the bulb holder, which would be a nice easy fix.
  16. Thanks Snagger - that’s exactly what it seemed like..... but I’ve done what I should have done straight away and swapped the front bulbs over and the problem has stayed where it is. So it’s the car. What would cause one indicator to light up really slowly and even intermittently? Is it a dodgy earth ? Any suggestions welcomed !
  17. That said - I could do with a spare 15p engine 😊😊
  18. 7 engines for 1 car does seem excessive ? 😊👍🏻
  19. I bought some Lucas indicator bulbs from eBay - and there is something strange going on with them - they aren’t as bright as the existing bulbs - but more noticeably they are very slow to light up ...I’m going to swap sides to makes sure it’s not the circuit - but I’m pretty certain it isn’t as they were fine before the old bulb failed.Has anyone had experience of this ? I believe there are fake branded spark plugs around, with some subtle differences on the packaging. Any thoughts anyone?
  20. I think this one is JUE477 pictured up in the North East. - It is chassis No, 1 recently sold through closed bids.
  21. It’s wether it’s a genuine product built for its purpose isn’t it? Reliability being of part of that - i.e. if one failed in Siberia you’d probably die? So if it was a genuine product, with a wide customer base across Russia, I was expecting decent reliability.
  22. Some of those cheap ones on eBay are planar I think - they’re made in Russia, and they have some good reviews. They are supposed to be like the Eberspacher but with a brushless motor and simplified electronics. I kind of imagine the Russians will know a lot about dealing cold weather !?
