My X-Springs need new springs and plates - but I'm struggling to get the replacement parts from Foundry. So I've been thinking of what my alternatives might be.....
And it's either dislocation or spring retention (where I can't afford coil overs) .... So my question is can I calculate how much a retained spring will stretch ?
The spring calculator does static sag - so I guess I could play with that on negative values ? But of course under dynamic movement the springs compress a great deal more - so will presumably stretch a great deal more too ...
Anyone able to help educate me please ?
Depending how soon - I might be able to pick it up from Clitheroe. Problem I have is my wife working opposite shifts to me and us sharing looking after a baby girl. If I can help though I will.
Perhaps it's worth considering just looking based on price - and then pick whichever is the best truck regardless of which year/engine/model.
You might find a pristine earlier model, on a galv chassis, that drives beautifully, in the next village, and to turn it down based on it being a few years older wouldn't make a whole lot of sense .....
I think there's one out there like that - but I expect it to take a bit of finding.
Mine is a 2000 model, had an easy life before coming to me, has been looked after by me, has 84k now but has still just had a new rear crossmember.
Chinley steps is I think another name for Roych Clough - which was permanently closed on the 19th of September and I think Chapel Gate has a TRO too.
You need to look at more than maps sadly - or you end up driving them illegally as you appear to have done....
I follow the logic - though I don't enter competitions I wouldn't want to win and I suspect I'd feel a bit ungrateful selling it ....
I've met some people who almost professionally enter competitions: buying numerous cheap magazines and entering every competition they hold with bulk entries. They'd won a lot of things too and sold the vast majority.
Is it not a lot of money for what it is ?
It only reads to have had a basic re-furb rather than a nut and bolt re-build. A quick search on eBay is turning up Td5's 7 years newer, or rebuilds on a galv chassis for similar or less money.
I emailed foundry at the beginning of the week and got an automated holding email - I need to replace the springs from my x-springs... Anyone know if they are mad busy ? I don't want to hassle them of it's 'all in good time' ...
