  1. Some idiots have been driving into the woods off a nice little local Lancashire lane. I've been talking to the Rights of Way Officer though and the result is that the lane is being kept open, signs have been put up, some of the idiots were identified and visited by the Police - and now we're looking for volunteers to come down and help out with repairs on Sunday the 11th. There is a thread here about it: http://www.lro.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=54583 Here's a post I made outlining how folk can help: http://www.lro.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=492970&highlight=#492970 So if you want to meet some like minded folk, do some good work and help keep a lane open, post up on either this thread or the other or drop me a pm if you want some more info. Thank you!
  2. The exceptions to the NERC have been invoked! ... Though it may only be a narrow window before a TRO. The 3 link, x springs and gwyn kit was a kind experiment to see how far I could get by trying to keep an even weight balance and all 4 wheels on the floor. Going out that day kind of pointed out how far it had come.
  3. I posted a couple of videos onto youtube that I thought I'd put here. First one is of getting a Discovery that is standard except for its wheels through a rock cutting, second one is mine with the 3 link, std height, but long travel shocks.
  4. To fit just the blanking plate you'd need to disable the EGR itself - otherwise it'll open and suck in unfiltered air from the loose end. Can't remember what year your Landy is - you either need to just buy a straight through replacement EGR pipe (with gasket) - or that and two more blanking plates. Be prepared to replace the allen bolts on the exhaust manifold and be very careful taking them out. My advice would be soak them in plus gas (you can get at the threads from the back is they fit in a straight through hole) and ensure you have a very good fitting allen bit when you take them out. How you blank off the solenoid vacuum will depend on what year your Td5 is - as per above.
  5. Give Gwyn Lewis a ring - tell him your budget and he'll sort you out.
  6. My recommendation would be don't bother and just fit the heavy duty rods. If you drive in mud they act like a plough - they don't protect the track rod from impact, often the drag link can still be impacted behind the back edge - and they offer no protection to the rods of course from impacts on the wheels.
  7. Porny seems very difficult to get hold of ... so if you're not successful I think you can also try his 'colleague' - Pete from Bell Auto Services.
  8. Si That is exactly why you SHOULD produce a front suspension set up
  9. Could we produce a parts list to make the thread a complete record of the conversion?
  10. Excuse me asking a question, but does anyone make any really plain looking head units? They always seem to have chrome and colours and bright displays. I'd kind of like something that's a bit more discreet.
  11. best as in quickest? robust? easy to fit? easiest to deploy? strongest pull? least maintenance?
  12. 3/4" .... is that what it's supposed to be I'm trying to make the best of my bad lock and am working on about 1/4" ....
  13. Excellent. I've always found him great to deal with and his stuff is top notch :-)
  14. Here are the turrets: Link Galvanised spring seats: Link Turret rings: Link
  15. I'd be inclined to fit Gwyn Lewis turrets, he does them in std height, and they are imo a better design. You'll be able to clean round the top of the shock. He also does galvanised rings iirc. Perhaps also, seeing as the turret bolts aren't loaded in sheer, you could use stainless bolts?
  16. I found this, apprently from the manual: turn off the starter switch and wait for 15 seconds turn the starter key to position 2 and wait for30 seconds turn off the starter switch repeat steps 2 and 3 six times fully depress the accelerator pedal keeping the pedal depressed, start cranking the engine continue cranking the engine and as soon as the engine is running on all cylinders ease the accelator pedal back to approximately halfway and release the starter key the engine should now be running if not do it all over again
  17. Its worth waiting for the OME ones imo anyway
  18. The dash light came on in mine - I took the filter drain off to look, no water drained out, but 1 of the wires had corroded off. I put it back on and the light went out ... when I checked the 2nd wire had now broken off. When I replaced the filter the next time I just left the plastic blank in the bottom.
  19. Do you have a rev counter? or ABS? if not then the ECU will read them as a fault.
  20. I like the X-Tend name For the arb - how about Roll-X ?
  21. Cruise at 80 mph!? Is the noise not just tyre or running gear resonance with it being speed affected?
