  1. You don't have to take it to a dealer and the warranty will still be honoured. There are dealer benefits though. 1 example. If something goes wrong at 3years 3 months when the vehicle is out of warranty any problems that occur can sometimes be claimed through loyal customer type scence. If the vehicle has been serviced outside a dealer that will not happen. Regards Mark.
  2. For the knowledgeable Will the 255/85s go on a standard 110 with standard Boost Alloys OK? I can accept a little rubbing and adjusting the lock stops. Cheers Mark.
  3. Could be a dodgy throttle potentiometer! Had them work fine on light throttle but go "out of range" at higher throttle and engine light comes on and into limp home. Will re-set with ignition cycle only to fail again when throttle passes a certain point. Mark.
  4. Agree with the above. I also don't care about position - I usually come last! Time & distance are more of a concern to me; then cost. I can't do anything that involves Friday/Monday on travel or event. I would struggle to do 2 day weekend; I really need to be able to drive to, do event, drive home all in a Sunday. Mark.
  5. A mate has 1 after his last landie went walkies!! I'll ask him again what he thinks of it; but from memory has had no issues. Mark
  6. Should do, its part of standards. Mark
  7. Well I work there too, so I would be a bit bias!
  8. JST, respect to you for running up and down that hill all day. I had a slightly different picture of the Freelander after my collegue had a go on your event. Mark
  9. Well done, I was there on the 6/7th, came 3rd in our heat which was a bit of a sod as I did fancy going to eastnor. Agree on the aching, although I am as unfit as they come!
  10. It's not just you or the Defenders. Locite on Defender diff pinion is a genuine bulletin fix, from LR, for this that affected a lot of 05-06 plate vehicles!!! I had 3-4 demos that need this from new. It's the same on a number of P38 rear drive flanges.
  11. previous spill when filling engine?
  12. Stick with the Td4 (unless you get a very good 2nd hand deal), The I6 is fast and a bit quieter but that does not outweigh the negatives in my opinion:- It does way less MPG, Road tax costs more, Depriciates faster, Costs more when new, Always kicks down, does not have the ability to pull like the Td4. The FL2 Td4 is an awsome vehicle, quick, quiet and comfortable. Mark.
  13. Having 1 of the following makes it a commerical vehicle:- 1. Payload of over 1000KG. Defender 04MY (from memory about dec 04 build on) and newer 110 SW factory fitted with Boost alloys all 07MY 110 SW (regardless of wheel choice) have over 1000KG on the chassis plate. 2. A pickup(outside load area) Hence all the double cabs. 3. Van type body (front seats no rear windows) Hence Disco commercials rear side glass completed blacked out. Note if an individual/business (not VAT registered) bought a commercial vehicle it loses its VAT status straight away. Mark.
  14. The Bogmonster is right an 04 plate UK Spec SE will have a fuel burning heater which will kick in automatically in low ambient temps when the engine is cold. To confirm it is this in front of your n/s/f wheel will be a approx 3/4 inch pipe which is the exhaust from this; if you feel warm air from this when you hear the noise all is normal. Mark
  15. Me neither! I'll see you both there also! Mark.
  16. I think you need to start looking at different compounds rather than just different manufacturers. That aside, I would rate mintex pads every time, and don't use anything else anymore. They do different compounds:- Standard, 1144, 1155, and even more heavy. In my 90 I used to run standard mintex discs and 1144's all round, having removed the brake balance valve, monster stopping. Because they are a little harder they seem to last better in the goo; they do cost a bit more and can squeak a bit when braking lightly a road speeds. These guys are very good Questmead Regards Mark.
  17. It's an "HGM Automotive Electronics" "Compushift." HGM You program in diff & transfer ratios; it has throttle position and engine speed input. You can set all the shift points by speed or rpm, adjust shift pressure, adjust torque covertor lock up. Have full manual, semi auto, full auto shifts. It also displays vehicle speed, engine RPM, gear selection, battery volts, whether the torque covertor is locked, gearbox oil temp and pressure and throttle position. It does a lot more that I don't understand use see the 125 page manual in the link!! Mark
  18. Since I have to admit to being a bit of a cheque book off roader; due to not having the time or tools to do the bigger jobs, I have not really looked in depth at the adaptor! Cheers for the links I shall have a peer at some of those in more detail. I have major clearance issues with exhaust and props underneath; its a bit of a miracle it all fits. I am running tube props not bar. It does run on Dynatrac rock 60 (dana 60's) now but did have RR axles originally. I'll post a pic so you can see! cheers Mark.
  19. Cheers for the reply. On Electronic, the computer read out still shows first selected, I think.
  20. I am again after some help, ideas, advice! The truck is suffering from two different oil pick up problems on extreme angles. 1. When pointing downhill engine oil pressure drops to well under 10 PSI. GMC 6.2 Diesel. 2. When pointing uphill gearbox loses oil pressure = no drive. GM 4L80E. Anyone else run either of these and had the problems; if so how have you sorted it. I'm thinking of either different/modifying sumps and pick ups for both. Though the idea of dry sumping has been suggested. Has anyone done this and/or is it overkill? Cheers Mark.
  21. I see about 2 a month through the workshop with mis-fuel. Most of ours don't need engine change as most people reliase before they move of or before it stops. The £6500 is about right for new engine and fuel system, most people claim it on the insurance. Mark.
  22. Hi Bog Monster, It is a 110 SW in what ever spec you want, with the utility pack. Lecky windows are part of the covenience pack. They do exist, but are not imediately availible in numbers in the network; can definately be ordered. look at bottom of this list! Mark.
  23. Does anyone know if I turn up on Sunday Morning if I can enter? Don't fancy the drive and not being able to! Cheers Mark.
