  1. They normally stay on for about 5 seconds after switch off of the ignition; whilst shutting down. Maybe someone has probably wired it in to a permanent live. Mark
  2. Just turn up the volume (with the normal radio control) whilst the sat nav is giving an instruction. Mark.
  3. LR don't recommend over a 5% mix of bio diesel. Mark
  4. My recently sold 56 plate 110 XS had neither front or rear. I believe a 90 XS would have had rear but not front. Regards Mark.
  5. This is your friend - you'll need the last 6 digits of your chassis number, found at the base of the windscreen. Land Rover Bluetooth Mark.
  6. I have seen a number of fairly oridinary looking vehicles with special vehicle badging, where the original keeper was very important/celebrity status. They can be looked up on the vehicle build spec to see if they actually went to special vehicles. Special Vehicles should keep detailed records of all builds. Mark.
  7. LR have not had a standard purple for a number of years. It could have gone to special vehicles, certainly not standard. There is a new colour Bali Blue which does have a hint of purple in it. Regards Mark.
  8. They definately won't fit straight on a F/L 1. Mark
  9. Not as standard or factory option on the freelander 1 i'm afraid. Mark.
  10. If it is a 7 seat D2 it will have air springs regardless of the spec level. If it is a 5 seat then only the top spec ES (maybe the XS also) would have had rear air as standard. Mark.
  11. The LR one's just preform a controlled pretty rapid stop. Mark
  12. As Anderzander says discs are not running true, which could be the discs themselves or loose wheel bearings. Mark.
  13. Take the disk out and give it a clean & check for scratches. After that, it's 1 for a radio specialst. I would advise not spending money out on it - new Becker Nav units (not from LR) are only about £300. The FL 1 is not that great a TOM TOM or similar is better IMO. Mark.
  14. The 02 plate XS would be a very early XS - I'm guessing the number plate starts with a "B" or a "V"? If so will most likely be a EX Land Rover car; and being Silver may be an ex-offroad car so have a good poke around for damage/wear underneath. Mark.
  15. Would agree that a faulty light switch or door pin switch is most likey. However I had had the same issue on my 2006 110. Traced it eventually to the drivers door striker had become loose and could move back and forth, and at any given moment the switch could open the light would come on for 10 minutes and then go off because of the time override circuit. Mark.
  16. Be aware that ordering an ignition lock to match the original can take some time. We've had some at work on order for between 2-4 months that have all turned up in the last 4 days. I don't know if this waiting time is typical or whether they have just got over a back log. A ignition barrel cut to a specific number is also about £30-40 more than a random 1. Mark.
  17. Hi Simon, Not sure about kits. The commercials are basically just a big sheet of wood with some metal supporting legs. A cargo barrier and black out of the windows. Regards Mark.
  18. Engines generally fine. Main issue areas I would be aware/check:- Turbo hoses spliting - fairly cheap, not a major concern. Fuel pumps packing in - difficult to know how worn (car should start imediately not require repeated cranking or use of accelerator). Clutch & Hydralics - clutch pedal should feel light and not feel like it's turning inside out. IRD, rear diff, and rear diff mounts - don't want clunks or bangs or harshness in drive train whilst driving (esp low speed turning, although you will feel resistance whilst doing this), check for heavily feathered rear tyres. Water leak into boot storage compartment. To buck the trend, although I would have a Td4 over a 1.8, the 1.8 definately is better off road (manual to manual) as it has more just of idle torque in practice and is far less likely to stall at low offroad revs IMHO. Td4 auto is your way forward as it eliminates the clutch problems and is better offroad as obsticals can be tackled more slowly and power fed in more progressively. Mark.
  19. Your still running with the front dampers running through the middle of the spring? So the spring can't completely mislocate on the way back down as with the rears or on a damper relocated set up. So I presume the concern is with the spring potentialy damaging the shock? If that is it wouldn't a small inwards taper to/ontop your design, leaving room for some shock movement, cure the issue. Mark
  20. Jubilee clip's will snap with repeated articulation, it's what I tried before using dislocation cones on the 90. Need another plan! That was really helpful, sorry. Mark.
  21. The roof rack system was not standard. Very easy to fit about 10-12 bolts. From memory the kit was around £300 at main dealer plus fitting. Remember if fitted it makes removing the hard top considerabley more interesting and not a 1 person, 1 minute job. Mark.
  22. If you stop at a skiing resort in the Alps, and want to try a bit of roading with a difference; hire a downhill mountain bike and associated gear, buy a lift pass and hurl youself down the nearest mountain. It provides an instant high, and is a great way to spend a day or 2!! Mark.
  23. First check is that the interior light is working with the opening and closing of the doors. Because as SteveRK said there is an inhibitor to prevent the wiper from working with the tailgate open. If the interior light has stopped working you will need to rectify this first. Mark.
  24. All freelander 1 autos 2000-2006 were the same 5 speed auto. The Freelander 2 2006-current is completely different 6 speed auto. So definately not the same. Mark.
