  1. I've got a set of 200tdi cam bearings here. The great land rover curu, Pete Broom advised me that it is possible, in many cases, to simply reafix either the origionals, if not too mullered. or replacements, without resorting to the utter pita that line boring is Mike, I would offer you a spare engine, but it has the same problem

  3. Mike I would go for the non line boring option - in most cases, the cam journals haven't chewed up anything but the white metal bearings
  4. Not sure if the family have that much to do with the company these days. Dave was a bit fly but in a proper gentlemanly way
  5. It's got a lot of potential. But that whole 'strip down to component parts' is very off putting. I'm genuinely sick of projects at the moment
  6. I don't use it - but mainly because it's expensive I generally stick to Shell Rimula 15w40 Mineral oil. It's what we use in all the plant on the farm, so it comes in 205litre barrels. For some odd reason , that I have forgotten, I'm running 10w40 Smith & Allen semi synth at the moment and it's not goping to be in more than 3k if I can help it
  7. I'm a believer in Slick 50 - I went to one of the formula three demo's in the early 90's
  8. It was developed for cars that sat aroud alot - hence the popularity with the classic car market. It doesn't improve the efficacy of the cooling system - for that you need a water wetter, something that reduces the surface tension on the water, so removing any nasty little catch points in the system. flush the system backwatds and forwards, fit the new rad, then fill with either distilled water or water (I've never had an issue with later, as long as you refresh coolant regularly) and the correct percentage of anti-freeze (which shouldn't be called anti-freeze, because that's not it's only job. Glycol for glycol engines, OAT for OAT engines, never mix the two. Glycol is best, but modern engines tend not to like it.
  9. I will admit to having treated the handle with extra care. It doesn't seem that strong...
  10. Just an update on my Alpicool CF45 Camping on the welsh borders last week with outside temps at 34+ and inside temps over 40 every day, she never went above 4 degrees. I ran her for 24 hours on my 'camp battery' a 26amp hour, ten year old, resurected mobility scooter battery from Lucas, with a 7watt trickle charge, form a solar suitcase. No issues, although the battery was almost at cut off point when I swapped the firdge back to the Disco. The fridge is now in the T5 over in West Wales, just doing it's job I'm really pleased with it
  11. I'm the proud owner of a T5 caravelle, which was converted to pop top about 10 years ago. In the 10 months I've owned it (and my wife has driven it) I've spent time, virtually every week, sorting out the remaining elements of the conversion. It was carp. In the file of invoices and paperwork that cam with the vehicle, I have a copy of the origional invoice for the work - namley fit pop top, match up trip, fit aux battery and charger, fit 240 volt hook up. The cost, ten years ago was over £10k. Crazy cost. Mind, they did do a decent job of the hook up.
  12. I've used that ability on the CTEK to 'save' quite a few batteries, including a yellow top optima. It's quite useful
  13. We (me and the kids) went to Denmark. To meet up with my brother, for the first time in 34 years. I met my neices and sister in law. I fell in love with Denmark. opeted to fly over this time (so I could go to Legoland, a lifetime's dream). Billund airport is at Legoland! Hired a Deisle, manual Kia, which turned out to be a Toyota C-HR Hybrid. Wonderful time. Very emotional. Then I took my youngest to Nash Oakland for a week - the weather was almost too good. I might get round to downloading the pictures of my camping set up
  14. Would only fit Optima if they were free. Had so many issues with them on clients vehicles I like Numax, part of Lucas. Never had any issues with the XV range of deep scylce marine starter batteries
  15. Not sure about Mike's ode to his american indian forebares, but I've recently swapped to a Bell Tent (from Bell Tent Boutique). I've got a 3m as it's just me and occasionall 'youngest child' but my mate has the 4m and it's huge. Doddle to put up - say ten minutes, very weather capable, can be heated, loads of accessories. Just realised, it wasnt Bell Tent Boutique, it was https://lifeundercanvas.co.uk/product-category/canvas/bell-tents/ same tent, better guy ropes. I was over that way at Nash Oaklands and yer man at Life Under Canvas was having a bit of a sale of shop soiled stuff. Me and another mate were so impressed by the origioanl mate's Bell Tent, and another mate's Bell tent, we popped over and got spendy with the cash. Really nice bloke So Beardy Overlanders on a Budget Society is also Bell Tent Owners On a Budget Society - which is not snigger worthy
  16. Loud induction noise from the snorkel is my bug bear. It's got a Chinese Donaldson copy. I need to experiment with other snorkel heads Try driving a badly loaded Sprinter V6, with enthusiasm, along a wet back road. Even the old 2.7 was entertaining
  17. Again, I return to my words: Unique and Special
  18. I've always used bog standard mineral ATF, from a 205 litre drum, but I was wondering if there was something better... I'll stick with mineral ATF and up the changes by a few K less Thank you
  19. Synthetic or not synthetic ATF? If synthetic, Comma? Or Lucas
  20. Ealry Merc Sprinters hav an electric, non ecu controlled LSD in back axle
  21. I beleiev this is 'Unique' and you are very 'Special'
