  1. Hi Grem, just followed your link and it is asking me to login and to login you have to register. Pete.
  2. Good advice but worth being aware that some injection pumps also have an immobilser control built into them and it is therfore not quite as straight forward. Pete. And no I don't have any information about the immobiliser control. sorry.
  3. Not sure how much this is going to help as it's based on an EDC/auto. However on mine when I had immobilser problems I checked the Haynes manual wiring diagrams and found that there are 3 Black with an Orange tracer (IIRC) wires that go into to the alarm unit, one is an earth used by the alarm however the other two control the starter relay and a fuel relay (I think). Any way I grounded both the control wires but left the 3rd wire connected to the alarm and my starting problems went away. HTH Pete.
  4. I had 255/65/16 AT's on modular rims on my Disco 1 with a 2" lift and had to trim (camel cut) the rear arches to stop them fouling at full articulation. Pete.
  5. In fact these people seem to sell said milemarker Hydra 12000. Don't know what language it is in. but it is listed at the bottom of the page. Clicky Pete
  6. Well took 9 working days to arrive, Looks like a nice piece of kit, very well made. I'll do a new thread when I have had a chance to install it. Pete.
  7. As Western says just swop the three bolt flange for a four bolt one would probably be a good idea to change the oil seal whilst your in there. This might help :-Clicky Pete
  8. Well that helped a couple of hours disappear . Will be interesting to see how it developes. Pete.
  9. I posted about the trouble I had about 9 posts from the start of this thread. Pete.
  10. Try holding the key in the un-lock position and then pulling the door handle to open the door. This worked for me on mine (Disco 1) when the spring snapped. Pete.
  11. This thread might help, might not. Clicky Pete.
  12. I am prepared to be wrong but the worst I can see happening is the battery will go flat as the engine will just crank over and not start. Why do you ask? Pete.
  13. Springs and shocks may be fine however I started down this route with mine and ended up changing a whole lot of other stuff too You should be aware that a 2" lift could affect the high speed (50+mph) handling of your Disco as it will change the castor angle on the front axle making the steering feel very vague and less inclined to self centre. Not all do it but mine did. If it does effect the handling you will either need to replace the bushes at the axle end of the front radius arms for castor corrected ones or buy new castor corrected arms. Having corrected the castor you will then probably find that the front propshaft will have picked up a vibration which is cured by fitting a double cardon propshaft from a discovery 2 or a custom made one from the likes of propshaft clinic or devon 4x4 etc. I also had problems with the rear propshaft as the steeper angle on the propshaft destroyed the rubber coupling at the axle end within about 3 months of me fitting the lift and then a second brand new one in about 6 months. To cure this I ended up fitting a high angle Universal joint at both end propshaft (from Devon 4x4) which involved changing the pinion flange on the diff. I then also had to correct the flange angle of the rear diff as I then had a vibration on the rear this was cured by fitting new rear radius arms that were longer than the originals. You will also definately need to change the front brake pipes for longer ones and may also need to change the rear ones as well. All in all in my opinion I (having done it on mine) would say that if you can avoid fitting a lift kit if at all possible do, as it could be a lot more expensive and a lot more hassle than just trimming the body work slightly and adjusting the steering stops. This is just representative of the problems I encountered when I fitted a simple 2" lift to my 1996 300TDI discovery and may be different to other peoples experiences. As I said not all do it and some people can/will live with the possible handling change I didn't want to so ended spending a load more cash than I wanted to originally. Mine is my daily driver so I wanted it right. HTH Pete.
  14. Funny for the five years I worked on the DHL Aircraft everybody refered to them as that, Including at least one of the DHL representatives. Pete.
  15. Cheers Mark, I have a feeling you have told me that before . All I need to do is find a gap in the weather and get a couple of bits from Ashcrofts and I'll find out . Pete.
  16. The Discovery Auto TDi is also 1.222:1. As far as I know the actual boxes are the same between manual and auto, At least I hope so as I have 1.4:1 from a manual defender to go into my Auto discovery (IIRC the linkages need repositioning). Not that helps much as I have no idea about V8's Pete.
  17. The transfer box on yours will IIRC be 1.6:1 where as the later defenders are 1.4:1 and the discovery one will be a 1.2:1. So if you use the transfer box from either the discovery or a defender your top speed will improve. This only effects high range so you low range will be the same. As the disco is P reg I am reasonably sure it will be EDC and therefore you will need to replace the injection pump with a mechanical one or use the ECU and other assorted parts that go with the EDC system including modifying the throttle pedal to take the throttle potentiometer. Pete.
  18. What age Disco is it from because it could have an EDC (electronic diesel control/ Flyby wire) pump not a mechanical pump. Not that it is a big deal to swap it over to a mechanical pump if it is EDC. you would just need to source a pump. Pete.
  19. Assuming the Disco 2 is the same as a Disco 1 then the central locking solenoids are pretty standard and can be got for about £12 for a 2 wire one and £14 for a 5 wire (drivers door). The wire colours may not be the same but it's easy to work out. I got a couple from this lot :- Abacus Car alarms recently. Pete.
  20. If any thing on my 300tdi I found the opposite to be true and the back end got quieter after replaceing the rotoflex with a U/J. Also it is not exactly a hardship to grease one more joint whilst your rolling around under the car to do the others. Pete.
  21. Mo, I went from +2" procomps to +5" rough country shocks on the Disco and I can't say as I can feel a difference on road either. Pete.
  22. Hello and welcome to the forum, The plastic plug is also a known weak point as (as you found out) they snap easily. You can get brass ones I believe from a rangerover or Simonr at X-eng does an anodised aluminium one and gives a forum discount as well. search for Simonr on here. The other common leak on the front of the 300TDi is the P-gasket which is behind the waterpump (not the water pump gasket) a search of the tech archive on here will reveal an excellent thread by Les on how to replace it. Pete. editted to add link. P gasket thread
  23. Police spec (red/whites) springs lifted the front of mine by something like 2 - 2 1/2" (although mine has a standard bumper it does have a steering guard). And I think Mark on here found them to soft on the rear of his and has had to fit spacers to get the ride height some where near right. HTH Pete. editted to add For shock absorbers speak to David at LLama 4x4 as his rough country shocks seem to work very well and he gives a forum discount.
  24. They are not known in the Airfreight world as Drop it, Hide it and Lose it for nothing. Pete.
  25. I went for the bar/degrees C display, and to be honest forgot to specify a probe length so will have to see what shows up. Pete.
