  1. Its already mounted in the most central of the two holes.......... so i have bought the extensions, and will see how they work........
  2. I would avoid leaving it running to be honest, if you do manage to damage an intake pipe for example, it'll swallow water..... at least if its not running the water (in genuine land rover style) has a chance to leak out before it does damage.....!
  3. What i tend to do is take my truck to a local car wash place that has a high pressure wash thing..... i take a can of degreaser, and do the deed....... i've even taken engines and gearbox's there and done the same........ when no-ones watching!..!
  4. Very odd.......... i fitted the box centrally, and i'm not exactly a wide person...... but i just find it awkward........ for a fiver i think i'll get a pair of those gadgets and see what happens.......
  5. Anyone been tempted to use something like this......? http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2311592d7a Bit concerned about extending the mounting, i can see it being an issue should i ever be unlucky enough to have an accident/insurance claim....
  6. Well, my 300/90 is now properly coming together, i've just removed the centre seat and fitted a cubby box.... i have also raised the drivers seat on mudrails.... the problem that i now have is struggling to get down to the belt buckle when i'm sat in the seat.......... did any of the defender variants come with longer buckles...?? ie, the bit that bolts to the centre of the seatbox..?? mine could do with being a couple of inches longer... Cheers.
  7. I bought my truck a cubby box......... lockable one.... didn;t like the mdf one i got first.........
  8. Looks like it may be what was a petrol 110, i think that 'would' have a 1.6 transfer box wouldn;t it.......... i'd go mad if my truck went that slow!
  9. It was easy when i had the body off, but with the body on i would expect it to be very tricky!!
  10. I'm now on the look out for a nice cubby box, does anyone know what the differences between pre and post 2007 ones are....?????????
  11. if its a one speed motor then there should be only two wires, simple, earth and live, if its a two speed, removes the wires from the park switch, blue yellow and red from memory, blue is earth, red and yellow are one speed and two, the only this you can.t easily test is the park switch.
  12. If you try to add too many wires you won;t get the loom through the chassis, when i did my rechassis i only just got the standard loom through!
  13. Yup.......... just bolts on, and can therefore be unbolted and bolted on your next truck!!
  14. http://www.douglassm...er_section.html gaurenteed to answer the phone during opening hrs, as there are only two staff...... one being the owner.....
  15. Lapwing........... i just noticed you're in East Dorset............... fancy joining a club..??? we're Dorset based.... and we have an rtv trial at Bransgore on Sunday 27th, ok, so thats not dorset, but we do most trials in dorset, why not come along and watch and have a natter if ya like.... See http://www.dorsetrover.co.uk/content/bransgore-trial for details!! Make sure to come and say hello if you do come along... spectators are more than welcome!! for FREE!!
  16. I have actually fitted one the other side now.. for the heater, saves me getting misted up when i go deep wading....LOL I made it out of a standard snorkel kit.. but with one extra support on the screen pillar......

'it bounces me around when he is driving it but that's probably because he drives it over silly fields ' I see the issue.......... it has bucket seats......... she's a woman therefore she has those things called hips, they get bigger with age don;t they..??? therefore she doesn't fit in the seat...LOL!!
  18. From what i can see, it should be able to be shortened a bit, but you wouldn;t want to make it short enough that the mushroom covered any of the screen......... ps, i don;t think the southdown one is a bad price if you don;t mind having a tube thats not brush finished...... i had mine powder coated black, so it didn;t matter what the tube looked like.......... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Snorkel-90-110-Series-3-/120772475531?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c1e99ba8b
  19. so, i had a quick look this aft, it dawned on me that the best place to check for power would be the three wires going into the motor from the park switch. I had one earth. And power to one cable on slow, and power to the other on fast, so i have now ordered a new motor, i could have got the brush plate, but would rather have a whole motor. . . I know what i.ve got that way. . .
  20. The southdown one doesn't, well, on mine it doesn't, and as its only a chunk of stainless tube you can cut a bit off to the height you want it' . . In my mind its one of the neatest one's that there is as well.
  21. So, just checked for voltage on blue green wire........ nothing, so i guess there is a lack of contact somewhere........ i'll have to go right through around the column and see if i can get my head around what does what..........
  22. As far as i can tell, the connedctions at the switch are all connected, and 'look' ok..... odd though that i've just had the instrument panel and column switches off then this happens, i had the battery disconnected whilst taking it apart etc, so i can't have inadvertantly shorted something across that shouldn;t be, when i had the motor connector off i did check and another one of the terminals becomes live when the switch goes to 'fast', so like i say that leads me to suspect the motor........
  23. Well, fitted a new park switch, and still the same, no fast, doesn't even park when put on fast........ any other ideas......?? i'm personally suspecting the motor itself.........???
