  1. I'VE wondered about this myself, lorry mudguards come to mind, similar to what some challenge trucks now have. . . Would have to fit tight up in the arch, as my tyres rub the top as it is on full articulation .
  2. You already have the cage, so just for interest, try getting the wheel up there!
  3. Transmission tunnel and footwells will all help too, do you have those in??
  4. with the weight of the doors behind the bulkhead, you can expect nothing else than for it to move, the wings and screen will all help, in the same Way that the other four wheel nuts would if you only had one on and wondered why the wheel wobbled!!
  5. My sliders have a plate welded to the end of the tube that goes into the outrigger, which is hollow, I then have a bolt in through the tube into the thread, you can make a spacer to ensure the slider sits in the right place,
  6. Chances are there is something slightly amiss with the actual belt itself, fit a new one and it'll probably be quiet again :-)
  7. Hmmm, coz the brakes get bl**dy hot??? . . Lol
  8. Even inside the chassis I put mine in conduit, just in case there was any sharp galv sticking out that you can't see.
  9. To be fair, mine was a bare chassis, which helped, but yeh, going from one hole to the next to get a draw line through is the way to do it...........
  10. I used an electricians draw cord, it worked really well on mine :-)
  11. None of your options would pass for scrutineering at an ALRC event, there are not supposed to be 'welded'..... i have seen a reciever type hich get past a scrutineer, but he insisted that the pin be swapped for an 8.8 rated bolt, so if you have concerns, do that, and maybe use a nyloc nut, it will mean taking a pair of spanners to it to fit/remove it, but thats small price to pay, plus it actually makes it less liekly for someone to nick the hitch, or even whatever trailer you might be towing!! People don;t seem to consider the option that theieves might actually unbolt a ball hitch to nick a trailer, everyone locks to trailer to the ball, and then has two bolts holding it on, anyone serious would just undo the bolts!
  12. IMHO......... and possibly because i have done it, the disco arm swap is worthwhile, i manages to break a track rod on a trial once, however, someone had a spare.......... if i were to break the joint in the drop arm, i'd be buggered........ it's gotta be simpler even if you have to do it a few times to swap a track rod end rather than rebuild the joint, or replace an entire arm......... Just my tuppence worth!
  13. I would put money on it being a 'richards' chassis, looks like its welded on the corners of the rails . .
  14. Maybe the gauge showing lots less when I accelerate is a warning to take my foot off the loud pedal . . Lol. Cheers
  15. Sorry to hijack, but is there a voltage stabilizer somewhere? 95 300tdi, my gauge goes up and down when accelerating or braking?
  16. In reality James, it depends what yr the axle is rather than the truck! Ron
  17. Cool, glad you had a good time, i never saw the bumper on the blue P38, but he's a pretty laid back guy, i don;t think he'll be that bothered, his wife however.........!!
  18. Thanks David, i've actually sourced a pair of old rover 214 sei seats, half leather and they have side bolsters like a recaro, and lumbar adjustment... just need to fit them when they arrive.. Cheers.
  19. Yup, everyone had a great day.......... Did anyone off here actually turn up..??? it would be nice to know, just so we can try to keep tracks of where people saw the event advertised.... Cheers. Ron.
  20. Thanks for the picture. My truck has only done 55k, and my seat base is new, and the back in vgc, I'm an upholsterer by trade, so refurb would be easy if needed, but its not . . .
  21. have already got mud rails on drivers seat, I'm. 6ft 3 tall . . . . Will look at other options Thanks
  22. Better than standard seats?? What other potential options would you Suggest . . Ta
  23. As above, i'm struggling with the standard front seats in my 90, i always seem to have a back ache after i drive it for a few hrs, the MGF seats look quite thin, and i was wondering if anyone had fitted some..?? and if so, whats the verdict...??? Cheres. Ron.
  24. This coming sunday, for those that like sticky mud it should be good what with all the rain we've had!!!!!!!!!
