  1. i bolted a piece of mudflap material in between the inner arch and its mounts and let it go down so it covers the outrigger, daft piece of design if you ask me, but then its a land rover, so why be suprised! Lol.
  2. sounds to me like you need to stiffest damper you can possibly get, or maybe even get a bigger pulley for the steering pump?
  3. i had an rtc damper fitted, i removed it and threw it away as i found that the damper element of it did nothing !
  4. the one i bought has 5 terminals on the back, three normal size, and two big ones, where as my existing one has 4 normal size ones, i.m guessing mine has some sort of relay for the starter, and the new one was fitted to vehicles that go direct to the starter or some such oddities. . . Typical land rover. Lol.
  5. Last week i bought a new steering lock and switch for my 300tdi.... it came with three nice new keys, and was of decent quality, not a cheapy rubbish one.... came to fit it today, and............ its different, who would have though they fitted two different types to 300's........ ho hum......
  6. Here's mine.......... its made from 5mm plate, i had someone fold it 90deg for me.... then i cut a triangle from the bottom plate, and folded the front in......... then put decent welds, and very small gussets behind kind of next to the winch mount lugs.... if that makes sense..... the cut outs on either side are for the winch hook to locate into..... with my ep9 the winch clears the rad by about 25mm, and the plate goes over the top of the front crossmember, and there is a section of angle iron welded underneath which is bolted through the cross member aswell...... the original bumper bolts hold the tray on..... and as i'm using a HD D44 bumper, the fornt winch bolts go through that aswell........... i've managed to kink my rear toy point, which is an 8mm drop plate, however the winch plate has remained as i made it.... even with some abuse.... ok, so not exactly challenge type abuse, but some good hard pulls....
  7. Welcome to LR4x4.......... can't helo you with your light problem, but you may wish to check out www.dorsetrover.co.uk if you're not already a member...! Ron.
  8. what about getting a lever from a 300 then..???
  9. The difficulty will be finding a way to fit them............ ideally in a frontal position........! Just a thought, that is that splitting the flow may not end up with a very good smooth flow........???
  10. Technically yes, however the biggest bonus of the bigger intercooler is that it'll be more efficient at its job, and therefore probably better than two in series..... but then, if you are able to find somewhere to fot the second one, which will cost very little then it could be worth a go...!
  11. Looks to me like either the big end or little end, or both on number three have gone, hence low oil pressure.... that then lead to the piston boucing off the head... causing the damage to the piston..... which may have then pushed the head slightly off the gasket which caused coolant loss and high engione temps........... but, as above, i could be totally wrong!
  12. I fitted a mountney and took it straight off too, couldn;t live with the wheel that much nearter me, i ened up fitting one of these... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/mini-thirty-steering-wheel-/300579678520?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45fbf1e938 bearing in mind that my truck is a 96 300....... they bolt straight on, there's a guy on ebay selling them as land rover wheels, but they're not.... they come off old mini's...!!! all he does is fit a different badge in the middle... these wheels are slimmer, and look more stock too..... Best to check the fittings before you buy one though.... just to be safe!
  13. thanks, thats clarified it, i knew there was a limit . . .
  14. However, there is ai believe a law that states that the 'reversing light' if fitted can only be a max of 14watts......... hence why my working lights are on a relay, and can be switched on manually/off/on when reversing.........
  15. fitted an ome damper, and couldn't be happier, its so smooth now its great! :-)
  16. Rusty.... is your tank in the rear..??? i would suspect a newer td5 tank would be plastic.........!
  17. Smells like a busted lift pump to me..... will run ok when not under load or needing more fuel, but struggles when more fuel is needed....... thats purely a guess, but thats where i would start!
  18. So, i've had a return to centre steering damper fitted to my 90 for a while, i recently swapped to a disco drop arm, and made up a bracket to fit to the front arm so i could still ise the trc damper.... trialling today is seems my bracket got mullered, and jammed on the way home..... so i unbolted it and removed the damper.... strange thing is, the truck almost drove better with nothing on it.... so, why do we have one...?? is it to iron out the wheel wobble, or make the steering slightly stiffer and more stable...??? And lastly, if it drives ok without one, is it ok to leave it that way.,.....???
  19. I would have fitted them the other way around, nearer the fornt of the bonnet.....
  20. before you jump and think thermostat... its worth checking that the flap inside the heater box is at least moving.... it might just be that the lever has become detached form the operating arm... mine did!
  21. Whats also worth considering is the fact that 200tdi is now old school.... and the demand for parts for them is therefore far reduced from what it used to be... so therefore the prices might seem high in relation to whats available for the newer stuff.... and less easy to get!
  22. if it were me, i would remove the auxiliary belt, and store it with most of the weight off the wheels, ie, on axle stands maybe.... i wouldn;t worry too much about anything else, if you wedge the clutch pedal down, then it means the hydraulics are under constant pressure for a yr, which i woldn;lt think was good..... on return, i would then change the oil asap, coolant, probably the brake and clutch fluid.... and also get a bew cam belt fitted asap..... oh, and clearly store it with the battgery disconnected, or even removed..!
  23. Looks to me like you would be better off with a custom made manifold, with a decent suport built into it.......
  24. You might change your mind when you see how much they are!!
