  1. I concur. Unless you or Suz are taking it for more than field play then the 4x4 suburu's / volvo's / audi's (also satisfy your speed bug ) would be a good shout. My pop recently got rid of his F2, had it for about 18 months. It didn't put a foot wrong and we were very happy with it other than having no low range / a low enough gear to manoeuvre loaded trailers around easily. The 2 ton towing restriction was also annoying. He swapped it for a Lovely D2 which is now mapped. It doesn't quite pull aswell as the F2's TD4 did (that went suprisingly well ) but it has the gearing and towing capability he needed.
  2. New security system available soon that is a bit different to the clutch claw and mech lock systems but looks interesting ask Grant. for details. Will get him to explain.
  3. Agree with Mocha on that point. I don't expect my engine to have the same reliability as it might as a standard engine, that would be ridiculous to expect this, (huge amounts of money are spent on engine testing and development) though with any engine it depends how you drive / abuse it.
  4. Not gone for 'speed' I wanted more power across whole rev range for greater dirvability, though I now have too much for my liking lol. I have to be weary using full throttle so that I don't over boost (which can happen with a strong map) and without a boost box the ecu doesn't like this which causes the ecu to revert back to 'standard get me home' map temporarily until you restart ignition. Without an upgraded manifold the increase in egt with strong maps especially from cold start and the increase in temp range that subsequently occurs when you push the engine when cold can cause manifold warpage. I have a strong Stage 2 with an upgraded intercooler but am planning on getting this taken back to a standard Stage 2 or slightly less next time I visit Porny. It goes like **** off a shuffle but I don't want to have to have to buy a boost box to negate the overboost issue or see the point of having a stronger map than I need or use lol A simple Stage 1 with perhaps a stronger off boost map, decat and egr removal would make a huge difference to JD Pete. I thought you could map pre flashable ECU's but it requires a chip change. Isn't this what was done to yours Grant?
  5. Pete, why are you bringing this up in a tuning thread... He did not tune your 300!! He rewired it and added the extra's you wanted. Can you really fault the work he did? You used it as a selling point when you sold the truck didn't you? lol You could fault the time it took and not being able to contact him. I guess he could have rushed the work and done a poor job in the time frame originally quoted but he didn't. It may have taken a while longer than you planned but he didn't charge you for any of the extra jobs (and time) he had to do including replacing all your core plugs after you let the engine freeze.. Airing your dirty laundry in an unrelated thread without the facts doesn't help anyone. Anyway... I thought you said tuning was unnecessary
  6. Yes, for studs(same on my Hankooks) but as Bish said I don't believe they are legal in the UK.
  7. Was interesting to see. So thank you for the link! I didn't like the ending suggestion that 'the conflict will rage for as long as there are those that want quite access to the countryside and those who want to test their machines against the elements' - That is far to black and white! I go green laning to gain access to the countryside in my vehicle, certainly not to test it against the elements. That is what pay 'n' play and competitions are for. I suppose there are some who will use lanes as a 'free' vehicle test but in the end we all end up paying the price for that minorities selfishness. Though I would rather not be tarred with the same brush.
  8. I found their valuation to be significantly less than Reg Transfers. Their valuation of mine was about 1/2 that of similar plates on Reg Transfers anyway... Sharpie
  9. Green laning in Wales in the Lightweight a couple of years ago
  10. Ha ha that can be arranged Mr Sutty Cheers Nige, all sorted
  11. lol Seeing as they are from ML, doubt there is any question of quality Am after some after market beadlocks as think it would be cheaper to modify my current wheels than buy the originals, but cheers.
  12. That was my plan. I likes the look of them . Have pm'd Saley but not had a response yet. I just wondered if things had changed since this post was last active with regards to options and suppliers / fabricators.
  13. Hey chaps, thought I'd bring this back to life. Where is the best place to get my Mach 5's beadlocked?
  14. We rolled my 90 over at Driffield LR Show this year and was also amazed at just how far they will go before going over. Not sure on angle though. Sorry.
  15. In-line Oil regulator, as in link, worked perfectly on mine.My Set -Up Sharpie
  16. Said he changed that, and I'm guessing he'd notice low readings on hawkeye. Injector loom oil ingress? Rear engine cover renowned for it's oil catching ability and playing with the engine loom. Worth a check, though this would throw out codes i'd have thought. Sharpie
  17. Just found using numcat.. very useful link that!!!! Cheers!
  18. I removed the aircon pump from my Td5 defender but to fit the non-ACE non-aircon belt I believe I need the idler that bolts in position as in pic below... I ordered what I thought was the right part when speaking to Paddocks but turns out they sent me ERR6949 which I already have. Is the correct part actually ERR6493 or is it another I need? Thanks in advance Sharpie
