  1. Just in case anyone is in need, I found a site in the good ole' U S of A that has PDF's of the user manuals for the Huskey, EP and X9 winches. They can be found at www.expeditionexchange.com/superwinch Or... Huskey Manual EP series Manual X9 Manual D
  2. Smashin stuff.... just what I was after Mr Morfee.... Thanks for the pointers, but I think I'll adjust things a bit before putting ATF anywhere near my fueling system Anyway, it gets a good raggin everyday up that sliproad!
  3. I've just had a quick skim through the post in the tech archive about tweaking fuel pumps on a TDi motor. What a superb post... very informative http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=31 Anyway..... as my 110 is making an awful lot of black smoke under load, and the MOT is looming, I reckon it may need winding back a bit. So it seems that I will have some good bed time reading, but there is one glaring omission.... The diagrams don't appear to be there anymore Anybody have a copy of them that they can email to me, or host so I can download 'em? Or... can sombody take picy's of the adjustment screws on a 300tdi pump so I know what I'm looking for? Cheers dudes and dudettes Dan
  4. Ahhhh ha.... Yes, somebody did mention about drive flanges some time ago... I completely forgot! I will check them first. Jules... Guy did his to get rid of the clonk, so I can only assume the one he replaced has just as much as mine, but thanks for the info anyway. Dave... Thanks for the offer. I'll let ya know once i've had a look at some flanges Don't ya just love that word!! Cheers boys and girls :B
  5. Blimey That must be some extreme green lanes! I had the white 8 spokes on my Rangie for about 5 years. Other than the paint wearing off on the bead and making a couple of the tyres go flat quite regularly, they were fine, certainly no sign of welds falling off As far as I know, they are still in active service on another forum users Rangie. Another mate has had his about 8 years... look a bit ropey but are still in one piece
  6. Superb... just the sort of thing I'm gonna need to know if I'm gonna be on the lookout for a replacement! Cheers Mark90 Fridge... Are you sure you don't want to swap that diff for my one... I'll even throw in some free "clonk" for ya B) Dan
  7. Smashin news... He owes me a flavour... indirectly
  8. Does a drum braked axle have the same dif as a disk braked axle? Edited to add: DOH... just read your post again, ignore me! Yep, mine is disk braked. So assuming Andy is right and I don't need to do any "spreading" I reckon I may be on the lookout for one! Cheers chaps!
  9. Rather than blatently hijack Mr Troopers salisbury axle thread... The diff in a salisbury axle... How easy are they to change, assuming no halfshafts in the way and no prop shaft connected? Where would be the best place to get one? Has anybody got one that hasn't got a mahoooooosive amount of "clonk" in it? How much should I reasonabley expect to pay for one (assuming it is a do-able job)? TIA. Dan
  10. Bloomin good news about the defender... They can keep my donation! We looked at having a tracker fitted to the scoob and the Camel, but were advised against it on the basis that we live in Southampton, and by the time the tracker is activated, the car would be in a container waiting to be loaded on a ship. Apparently tracker signals can't get out of containers Seems to me that Trackers are a big waste of money , something visual has got to be the way to go. Or something home made... had a hidden switch on my Rangie that cut the power to the fuel pump, simple, but effective. B) Dan
  11. The old LR service parts guide we have kickin about makes no distinction between the 2, it just says 15W40. All the stuff that gets used at you-know-where is mineral. D B)
  12. D'oh! Sorry.... using Steve's pooter, was logged in as the wrong person
  13. Just a thought... Shouldn't the thermostatic switch be fitted in the top hose, where the water is at it's hottest? D
  14. Bish... If the stub axle you require is an FTC3154, then it's readily available from Allmakes or Britpart. This part number is for vehicles with ABS apparently No more than £60+ HTH Dan
  15. The co-ordinates on my key ring are different! N 52 (degrees) 25.900' W001 (degrees) 46.292' Have they moved recently??
  16. I reckon thats about it. BUT... If you are changing all four corners as I did a couple of weeks ago, you may well get an overflow in the fluid resevoir when you push the pistons back in... so keep an eye on it! Edited to add: And don't forget to pump the brake pedal a couple of times before you drive off... brown trousers otherwise!! Good luck!
  17. Pretty easy job... just make sure you get new springy clippy things, cos 9 times out of ten they are rusted away. Unless of course you have the later style which have the pin that goes through the pads as well as the calipers Make sure there is no crub in the caliper when you try to put the new pads in, otherwise they wont fit in properly.
  18. Difficult to say something that hasn't already been said, but I'll add my vote/view... This forum is great! B) The "no affiliation" bit makes it a very strong and unbiased place to get good, honest info from people who have experience, and not those just trying to make a fast buck or six! I know I ain't the greatest poster in the world, but I'm always sitting here in the background reading whats happening. The thing about OT's... well, I say keep 'em. They do sometimes add humour to an otherwise monotonous day at the office (hmmmm... is it time I changed my job d'ya think??? ) But equally they do sometimes turn into personal email sessions with absolutely no meaning to anyone else. These annoy me when I do click to read them and realise I'm wasting my time. Its a difficult one to get around, but with a forum name like "The Lounge", you should kinda expect OT stuff, it conjures up images of Landy lovin folk all huddled round a nice open fire in a country pub with nice pint of ale in their hands, and having completely random conversations about vasaline and rubber gloves Surely the truely techy stuff belongs in the individual vehicle forums? Classifieds... stick with the 20 posts rule. Nuff said... back to reading, but keep up the good work! Dan
  19. Drop Mandy (hillbilly raider) an email... She has a Tombraider90... the roofrack on that has had more than it's fare share of use on the various trips over to the continent.
  20. You could try Powerflow... www.powerflow.uk.com Have no idea what they are like, but they have depots all over the country and their brochure has loads of semi naked women on it!!
  21. Lol... is that the windscreen washers that didn't work 'cos you were pressing the wrong button??? A nice little show with a good atmosphere and good company. But was a bit disappointed by the lack of trade stands and autojumble, but then I suppose they ain't got a huge amount of room. Also went in the Supercharged Rangie Sport... WOW! We touched 135mph on the test track before the driver blokey stomped his foot on the brake pedal to bring it down to about 70, and then accelerated into the bend... MENTAL! Still grinning about it now... if only I had the money! Picy of our club stand... Dan B)
  22. Yoiks! ... having just done the cambelt on the camel, think I'll check it before heading off to Gaydon this weekend!!
  23. it's signposted off the M40, providing you're going in the right direction! Take A34 north , then turn left onto M40, it's somewhere up there. Mand, drawn a blank with the Camel club so far, the bars seem to be quite rare. Apparently even brownchurch only make then to special order now
  24. Howdy diddly doodly.... So, who's gonna be up at Gaydon this weekend? I'll be there with FridgeFreezer and some of the other Shire LRC possie... Pop in and say hello. Also.... will there be anybody up there floggin LR4x4 merchandise? Stickers? T shirts? etc etc Oh, and one last thing... Is there anybody out there that is going that has a set of Camel Trophy Defender Bull bars that they don't want? I have Beer tokens at the ready. See ya there! Dan
