  1. Well hopefully we pick up a howling moon 2.4m double roof tent this weekend so we'll see how we get on. Mike
  2. It's worse than that they won't let you keep them if they take them out again. Yes I did ask! Get well soon mike if there's anything we can do just ask and no dancing on tables for at least a week. Mike
  3. Two weeks to go. Just a reminder that we are now accepting challenge, comp, and trialer trucks subject to a couple of rules main one being approved roll cage. Any questions pm me. Mike
  4. I paid £350 for a narrow track toolbox sankey 4 years ago if that's any help. Mike
  5. Mine are home made 50mm2 with an Anderson connector on one end to match the one on the seatbox. Mike
  6. I stand corrected though 14mm is still the wrong spanner as the bolts are imperial. Mike
  7. I have about four 9/16 spanners purely for prop bolts because 14mm is to loose and trends to round them. Mike
  8. I use the wheel up as well but gave up with the prop tool and just use two spanners. Mike
  9. The irony is if it was an early 110 as it appears to be it would be worth the money and a nice original looking truck to boot. Mike
  10. Bare dash before fitting. It's a one piece fibreglass dash I designed and made for 45. I've got one going in the ibex and tsd has one in his. Though I did make the dial area a fraction to small making it a little harder to fit defender dials and lights. 45 has 200tdi disco binical which sits very close to the ignition barrel. Mike
  11. I have done uig (skye) to Southampton (657miles) overnight in 16 hours, two drivers and £250 of fuel. But I wouldn't class it as a nice drive. The Scottish bit is nice but slow average speed is around 30mph. Mike
  12. I bought a myford ml4 recently for making bushes, spacers etc. It's not very big but will do most things I want to. Mike
  13. The gov web site says: A Cant be repaired Entire vehicle has to be crushed B Cant be repaired Body shell has to be crushed, but you can salvage other parts from it C Can be repaired, but it would cost more than the vehicles worth You can use the vehicle again if its repaired to a roadworthy condition D Can be repaired and would cost less than the vehicles worth, but other costs (eg transporting your vehicle) take it over the vehicles value You can use the vehicle again if its repaired to a roadworthy condition However I was told when I put 55 back ont road that they have just Re-done all the categories. From memory there are just 3 now something like R, repairable B, brake for parts only and S, scrap must be crushed. Don't quote me on the initials as I can't find anything now which surprises me as this supposedly happened when VIC got ditched just under a year ago. Mike
  14. The only thing I would say is I thought battery cable came in 16, 25, 35, 50, 70mm2 etc at least the stuff we use at work does though that is marine. Mind I'm not complaining as several have said I will be making lots of use of it. Thank you. Mike
  15. Me to but at least it won't catch fire. Though an interesting point I discovered from tsd cable size can be used to limit current flow ie on charging circuits or in tsd's case starter motors as he found out land rover down sized the cable to starter motor. He put a larger cable cable in and then took a while to work out why he literally kept blowing starters apart. Mike
  16. Just because we are never happy can you add cable sizes all the way up to winch sizes as that would be really useful. Mike
  17. Fridge my wife doesn't need any help and I don't need any more work. Trouble is your right nothing is perfect but time will tell. Mike
  18. The fuse is only there to stop the wire melting when there's a problem. So it also wants to be as close to your power source (battery/main feed wire) as possible but also where practical. Think of it all in loops helps ie. Positive feed-fuse-switch(or relay)-item(spots etc)-earth(negitive). Mike
  19. The tent above is a 4 man pop-up (quecha). We will be keeping a ground tent as well but want something to allow us to get away easier and more often. Mike
  20. I think this should explain away any sankey mounting ideas. And Mike
  21. With the best will in the world we don't have room for a caravan. A trailer tent necessitates selling our sankey (which wouldn't sell for sensible money). We have ground tents coming out of our ears. A roof tent is the best option for us, our situation and use. I'm after experience with the big ones or two smaller and what to look for/avoid. Mike
  22. If I'm honest we are campers through and through a caravan was just to make things easier with the girls. Plus our trailer would have to go and we couldn't sell it for sensible money when we tried. Mike
  23. We even looked at the idea of a caravan last year and if our trailer had sold we'd have one but our new house doesn't have room for one now. So we kind of want as close to a caravan as possible without having one. Mike
  24. Dave/ed we have a cvrt, two quecha popups one 4man one 2 man and have had numerous others. We know all about tents of every type. We have a sankey toolbox trailer which has a kitchen in one side (this is going to be used with the roof tent as it is with our ground tents. The roof tent would be for 1-2 night stays or multi stop holidays. We want something that can be put up in seconds with beding in place so we can pull up put the kids down then sort the rest. I've never been a fan of roof tents for various reasons but we find ourselves in a position where they make the most sense. Mike
