  1. Nice but the xxl is only 1.6x 2.2m so don't think it's big enough.I will show the wife the one in front of the other option as that may tick some boxes. Mike
  2. I think that truck is the challenge truck mentioned in another thread. Mike
  3. If we went down the "two" smaller route which I like the idea of do you think it would be possible to get from one to the other perhaps through the side window (side overhang, side by side). Both girls suffer from nightmares and we regularly need to settle them. We have seen (on the net) the 2.4m x 2.4m versions obviously big enough and man handling is not an issue but weight and use might be. Mike
  4. Mine won't unless you disassemble it. Mike
  5. Right well it goes like this we are considering a roof tent. Now we have done enough camping to know the pros and cons and have friends both with and without roof tents. Here is the BUT we need one big enough to sleep me (6'3"), the wife (normal size) and two girls (3 and 5 years) the girls are obviously going to get bigger. So a 1.6m isn't going to cut it in fact I don't think a 1.8 will. What's available (yes I have looked but checking for missed brands/options) and anyone got one/experiences. Mike
  6. The bottom line I think is if they want it they will take it and nothing and I mean nothing will stop them. But making the one round the corner look easier/less tricky than yours is all you can do, then hope they take someone else's not yours. Some security devices and parking it in a way that is difficult to get to but easily seen by passers by is our only hope in my opinion. Mike
  7. All truck body Ali sections are available from aalco in Southampton phone: 02380875200. We have their catalog at work. Mike
  8. I got one on eBay and a second at Newbury sortout. Mike
  9. On mine the pickup is part of the sender in the side of the tank. The one on top is the return but it does vary from year to year and iirc either can be used. Both can be removed from the tank to be replaced. The sender can be done in situ. Mike
  10. It's not like there's anyone on here who is good with fibreglass though...... Mike
  11. Or it could be this: This produced a solid pedal. Mike
  12. 110 station wagons are standard car rate. I guess yours is a hard top therefore it's classed as a van so van rates. Mike
  13. I have laned in groups, on my own and run lane days for the club. I have done day and night for all three. If you pick your route based on time, date, number of trucks and equipment you should never have a problem. I lane for scenery, wildlife and experience ie night landing produces a very different experience, wildlife and scenery to day. A lane I would do in a group is not necessarily one I would do on my own. I always lane fully prepared and I'm not frightened to turn round or back out. The moto I use for laning is simple: IF YOU THINK YOUR GOING TO GET STUCK WHY ARE YOU THERE. Site days are for getting stuck. Mike
  14. I've seen that. It has great potential but needs a lot of finishing. I think the owner bit off more than he could chew and has now realised. Mike
  15. Maybe it was after I bent it but before I realized that it wasn't tall enough. Mike
  16. I have a Clark 8ton in 45 and a 12ton in the 110. You need to screw out the top to get enough height. I vaguely remember my disco bottle jack not going high enough for 33" tyres but I could be wrong and I managed to bend the second stage ram on mine. Mike
  17. I think wolf rims are 6.5" pm daan or landroversforever both have had wolf rims banded to make them wider. As far as I know you can fit tyres on the wrong width rims without to much problem but you may deform the tyre and cause wear issues. Mike
  18. My ibex is built on stock axles (110) and running gear/engine (disco) though it does have a Salisbury on the back. So yes the main reason will be gearing and preservation. The wheels and tyres came up at the right price at the right time they are bfg km1's on mach 5 split rims. As for 33" tyres they suit my driving style which is greenlaning and marshalling our events I don't need to drive into that gaping great pit of mud when I can drive round it and extract the person that did. I can't remember the offset of the mods on 45 but I don't recall changing the lock stops so I guess the extra width is on the outside. Mike
  19. I ran bfg km2 285/75x16 on my previous 110 they were on 8" modular rims (now on our 90) the truck had a 2" lift. I never had any issues the occasional rub on full articulation. I liked them, our current 110 is on 255's if I'm honest I prefer the 285's. My ibex is on 35x12.50 but I can see me dropping to 285's when it finally makes it to the road. Mike
  20. I think the bottom line is a 200 is over cooled as standard and a fan does nothing over about 45mph, therefore a fan is almost not required. However if you can fit the viscous do so, if not fit an electric fan preferably on a temp switch or manual switch if not. Failing that don't fit one but remember it doesn't take much to tip the balance the wrong way and that's your look out. I have viscous on one and electric on the other nuff said.... Mike
  21. Viscous fan on a 200tdi disco engine will fit in a 90/110 but it must be in the td/na position, have a 4 bolt steering box and with a little trimming a td cowl fits upside down. Mike
  22. When running on our front tank it will transfer all 45ltrs to the rear tank via the return in about 10 miles. So yes it's normal. Mike
