  1. Yes some do have a bed that bolts on to convert it to a vertical saw, I don't have one for mine, but you could make one fairly easily
  2. I love my one of those bandsaws, they make you so lazy, I hardly pick up a grinder now
  3. If you intend to do it as the workshop manual recommends by removing the flywheel housing from the block then taking the engine out is really the only way to go You can change the rear crank seal without stripping the flywheel housing but I've had more success doing it as the manual says Either way make sure you use a genuine crank seal or you'll be doing it again in a month or so
  4. Funny you say that as I don't have any issues with mine, nor does a mate with his 13.50" wide Boggers on 8" rims, and our land rovers are used regularly off road. Also whilst out on Sunday we ended up putting two tyres back on rims for a couple of other lads who had 10" rims, I don't think either of them had 12.50 tyres though. I do think with most things in life, if it looks right, it is right I'd be interested in reading those threads need4speed if you have any links
  5. 35/12.50/15 BFG KM2 on 8" 8 spokes They just look 'right' to me
  6. Nice bodge LR. I love that they didn't even bother to fix it down, just relying on gravity
  7. I have opposite of that at work - my coaster is some laser cut 3mm 316 stainless in the shape of the company logo
  8. Probably from international engines, they bought the rights to the 300tdi and have been building them for years
  9. I have 35x12.50 R15s fitted on 15"8 rims, they are BF Goodrich MTs Any tyre which is over 11" wide is going to foul the radius arms (suspension) on full steering lock OR if the wheel has enough offset that it provides clearance on full lock then the tyre will stick out of the standard wheel arch. The tallest widest tyre that will comfortably fit on a Defender is the 255/85 R16 (metric size) which is equivalent to a 33 10.50 R15. This size is the best height to width compromise as they are fairly tall but shouldn't rub when your suspension is articulating whilst driving off road, and also they won't rub whilst steering or stick out of the arches. What do you want the tyres for? Is it for offroad use or purely because you like the look? I suggest you look on tyreleader.com for BF Goodrich tyres as they were far cheaper than anywhere else when I bought mine last year
  10. I try to keep the 90 looking a bit ratty for exactly those reasons Al If we assume that like most other stolen Land Rovers it would be stolen to break for parts, then actually it would be a waste of their time - the doors are rust from the lower hinge down, there isnt a straight panel on it, and the chassis has been heavily modified in such a way that it would be useless to someone else. But sadly the filthy stinking pikeys wouldn't find any of that out until well after they had pinched it Those were exactly my thoughts I'm getting some smart water and already have some highly visible security and some invisible security, but can anyone make any recommendations?
  11. My Ashcroft flanges needed hitting onto the Ashcroft shafts, so I wouldn't let any tightness concern you
  12. Yeah I get that my address isn't freely available, but is it accessible for other means which can be exploited through unscrupulous means?
  13. Today myself and a few mates went to a pay and play site. Whilst cleaning our lights and number plates etc at the end of the day a group of undesirable types came over and started taking photos along side our cars. On the face of it they were just posing with their kids, but every photo seemed to also include the number plates of our cars. I was deeply suspicious and promptly drove away to another location to finish cleaning up. So do pikeys and other scum have access to the dvla database? Are they gonna get our cars registered addresses and disappear them in the night? I'm more than a little bit worried by it and shall be taking appropriate measures with my 90
  14. Lol, not sure I'll get away with that at work, sounds like a decent office challenge
  15. That sounds handy Any 'must haves' 'probably needed' or 'absolutely not required' to be aware of? In terms of kit, equipment, accessories etc
  16. I'd hold off talking to the council until you have spoken to GLASS - I'm always mindful that it's easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission There was an excellent post by David Sparkes on this matter which is well worth a read especially as he's local to you and likely has first hand experience with Derby council
  17. Sounds good mike, is there something along the lines of "guided tours"? I remember the first time I went to kirton we never would have found the best bits without dirtydiesel's local knowledge I'm up for that mate, are you actually going?
  18. I scrapped a 2.5 petrol about two month ago, had I known there was any demand I would have gladly donated it to someone
  19. Nice! Although I do hate the over use of treadplate
  20. It's not my fault you live in the United States of Europe Perhaps I should have said its a long way to drive home having "enthusiastically" off roaded for a weekend
