  1. That's why your build is going so quickly? /hat, coat, running
  2. That's pretty much how I have it adjusted now. Glad I'm not alone.
  3. I upgraded to an X-brake to have more ground clearance after I split my transfer case getting hung up on a rock. It works well, my only complaint is that it seems to be difficult to adjust it so it's both not rubbing while driving, yet still locks solid. Sometimes I wonder if I've just mounted something wrong if nobody else has this problem?
  4. They can. Directly. Line pressure sensor support and everything from what I've seen. I should send the guys an email at some point to go over my silly ideas, but from what I've seen in their (good) documentation, it should be fairly straightforward.
  5. That's a fair point, but it's no worse than the stock system in that regard, and at least the software is out there and available. The software on the ECU is closed source, but is anyone realistically going to modify or dive into it anyway? I've tried looking through the MS1 code, it looks to be a very unstable house of cards with little room for changes/improvements, and wouldn't be all that easy to go debugging in. That's true in a way, and I don't expect to get 100hp extra out of it. But more flexibility, and being able to upgrade to more modern things in some regards (like the throttle body), sounds pretty nice to me. Sure, no RV8 is DBW, but the Thor uses a run-of-the-mill Bosch throttle body, which should be trivial to swap out.
  6. Still vapour at the moment, but have been mulling this over and doing a little bit of research. I've been thinking about MS for my P38 for a long time. Integration itself should be relatively straightforward, we're doing that for @Escape's install. On my car, I have the extra complication of having the electronic gearbox, that talks over CAN to the ECM. In the past I've thought about making a little module that interfaces with MS and talks CAN to the gearbox, but honestly, that sounds like a lot of R&D, and I find myself not wanting to do more software development in the evening when I'm already doing it all day long. So on to the vapour part... why not something else? There are a couple of good aftermarket systems around, like Haltech, Holley, ... From watching a bunch of car YouTube channels, the Haltech seems like a very good option. And they have support in Europe. A wishlist of features I have, in order of importance: Petrol control with direct coil drive Gearbox control LPG control (low impedance injectors) E85 support would be nice (Scandinavia has much more E85 than LPG) Drive-by-wire with cruise control (I dislike the P38's vacuum system) Looking at the Haltech offering, the Elite 2500 looks nice, if not a little bit overkill: https://www.haltech.com/product/ht-151302-elite-2500/ But it has everything I want/need: Both low and high impedance injector control. Works with any trigger wheel. Fully configurable gearbox control. DBW with cruise control support. Support for flex fuel sensor for E85. A bunch of programmable inputs and outputs. Easily extendable over CAN with a bunch of available modules. Easy tuning. Good support. And by the time you get all of that in MS as add-ons (if you even can, nobody wants to risk cruise control), you're sailing well past the price of an Elite 2500. And you have to somehow make it all work together. So... tell me why it's a bad idea
  7. Can only help! And two leaking injectors can certainly cause some of your symptoms.
  8. No, that wasn't what I was trying to say. They'll still need mods, just fewer. My main point was about the packages chosen: Rubicon, whatever the off-road package is called on the Bronco, and some road-trim Defender with ATPC and some ATs slapped onto stupidly big wheels (not even the smallest available for that trim). But I was actually pleasantly surprised to see, looking at the Bronco configurator, that it can't be specced with stupidly big wheels. So it has that going for it. All Defenders can option ATPC and the rear locker, if you want the 6-cylinder mild hybrid, you'll have 19" wheels at the smallest, otherwise 18" wheels (including steel wheels) are available. The fact they don't have that, is because of a series of bad decisions on their part, not Land Rover's fault. Good luck getting that through pedestrian safety testing.
  9. It probably is. Fact of the matter is, most people don't do this sort of thing with their vehicles, just like they didn't with the old Defender. Fewer mods*. And, importantly, they actually bought the spec that is suited for off-roading. The Bronco has a luxury spec too, which comes far less equipped for this sort of trail than what they brought. It's not really apples to apples.
  10. It highlights their version of the Defender is not comparable in that company. The one they'd gotted originally on the smaller steelies would've done much, much better. Using the performance spec off-road without modifying it isn't Land Rover's fault, is it? Or are they not allowed to sell it at all?
  11. Mild shock, they popped two tyres on 20" wheels. So unreliable! Starting to get a little sick of their clickbaity carp. They should've just taken the engine swap on the white one.
  12. This one: I think it requires you to approve that once you turn on the compatibility mode, like this in the RAVE.exe settings: Could be you don't have an administrator account and it doesn't work then? Never tried that...
  13. Strange, still works fine for me. Do you get the elevated rights popup when trying to open the exe?
  14. That looks exactly like my Waeco, except it has fancy digital controls.
  15. I have a Waeco CF-24 (or something) that I bought second hand. Does the job well, nudge the slider a bit too far and it'll happily freeze your food. Not too bad on power consumption either, I think it's 3A when running, but doesn't run all the time, so averages out to 1.5Ah or something.
  16. Air suspension so you can lower your brick on the motorway, 2WD kit in the LT230, horrible eco tyres, draft lorries. Or just don't worry about it and enjoy your vehicle as it is?
  17. I never had any issues with my General Grabbers, a fair bit better than the BFG ATs I had afterwards... For me one of the all-time great tyres was the Michelin XPC. Great on and off-road, bit more on-road biased I guess. Shame they stopped making those.
  18. Depends on the speed you want. For doing regular off-road recoveries, the small pumps are fine as long as they can deliver the pressure. But yeah, not cheap sadly...
  19. I once forgot to tighten the camshaft pulley bolt on my 300TDi. That was a lot of expensive noises.
  20. Maybe it closes a flap in the air intake and allows it to breathe from a higher, less efficient spot? Or it raises the air suspension I think that's just the Ineos logo, same one as on the rear wing of the Merc F1 car?
  21. I quite like that interior. The dialogue in the video was very much an exercise in how to not explicitly say Defender while meaning Defender.
  22. Yes, but your plans seem to actually be successful, unlike mine which are usually ambitious but a bit rubbish
