  1. You've also got the option of 1.3... ashcroft do the this as a gearing option, I had half intended to do it on my manual 200tdi, as I think it would compliment it more than a 1.4 for all around "use". But Auto's are a little different but worth considering.
  2. I guess this is what happens when you use off the shelf products/assemblies rather than building everything "in house".
  3. ?? - just something google threw up - not this one as its a lefty on 2nd look!
  4. I had my 200tdi exhaust made/fitted by powerflow Southampton, its a standand configuration but its 2.5" and it has v clamp joints, its 4 years old and looks like it's off the shelf still, awesome bit of kit.
  5. A very subjective decision, I bought my first Defender 90 almost 15 years ago. Decide what you want out of a vehicle and this should give you some direction. I have owned 200/300 TDI's for a long time they are great but, if you're looking for something to "keep up" with more modern pace of driving in my opinion, then you need to be looking at Td5 onwards type engine technology. - of course there are exceptions to 200/300tdi's which are well built/tweaked they can go really well. There is a big budget versus condition trade off, for example I just bought a 2003 Discovery Td5 for £1000 its on the road, but it needs a good bit of money spent on her to actually get and keep it on the road. I could have spent £5000 and got a vehicle that was good to go out the box, swings and roundabouts. FYI I've gone from a pretty avid 200/300tdi lover to a I want more power (drivability) from my truck, so I'll be going to a Td5 when I get the chance for my 90. There is very little concerning Td5 engines that now hasn't been addressed and there are a good number of digital tools out there that deal with the ECU/control side of things.
  6. Funny you should bring this up, I came across an old photo I managed to get back in 2015...
  7. Be careful here, the genuine ones had a manufacturing fault, I'm sure I posted up pictures on one of my build threads of this. The genuine pulleys the side plates where spot welded on, these spot welds fail and carnage ensues, definitely go with the billet machined type. See below Page 2
  8. You need a diagnostic port for an Alarm/emissions systems, for a 10AS its the only way to programme 2 button key fobs, so its highly likely you do have a port.
  9. If you have a 10AS (2 button keyfob type) then you maybe have a OBD port? - if you do have a OBD port you can use a nanocom for Td5 defender to interrogate the 10AS alarm system, this allows you to see if the 10AS unit is seeing all the switches for doors etc correctly. - I used a nanocom to sort out my 300tdi Disco alarm issues.
  10. It was the "again" bit that had me fall off my chair 🤣
  11. I skirted the clutch pipe thread topic a few years ago when I had some slave cylinder problems, there seems to be early imperial threads and later metric threads, I took the easy route of re-using a fitting that I had that happened to fit the slave cylinder I had... not helpful I know. It is worth noting that I believe all TDI era slaves are interchangeable from the clutch actuation point, the fitting looks very similar to brake pipe fitting, your best bet it to get a measure of what you have to avoid confusion.
  12. Dont forget the dampers... get some decent ones too!
  13. The vehicle will look stunning, such a lovely colour. Having just been involved with a contracted out rebuild of a relatively new 110, with a good bit of discount and goodwill from the garage (due to the customer being a charity), the final bill inc VAT was ~60k that included new chassis and engine, 2 rear wings/painting, and a lot of other small bits. I've been making enquires for a basic chassis swap on a D2 which are coming in between 10-15k inc chassis. I don't want to be as crass as to blatantly ask how much this is costing, but considering there's a good few man hours going into body repairs and painting etc of your RRC, are we in the same ballparks if extrapolated out as what I've outlined above. I honestly don't mean to pry, I just find it really useful to be able to quantify what something like this costs in real world, and how much you can "save" by doing something yourself - or paying out to save yourself burning your own hours.
  14. I've done a bit of research on this and there are pro's and con's but i came to the conclusion Nanocom would be the "best" option - you also get access to their technical diagnostic forum, which I havent used myself yet but already speaks volumes over a Britpart product. I'm lucky enough to have access to my mate nanocom unit, in which this morning I'm just trying to get an access code to unlock one of the other vehicle models... I'll let you know how I get on...
  15. wow, awesome, great you've found a way through the red tape 👍
  16. From verious Internet research I've done I came to the conclusion that 750 degrees continous seems to be the "general" turbocharger rule of thumb, so it can take higher but for shorter periods of time, I looked at verious information streams from all sorts of vehicle sized turbochargers, the last piece I read was to do with i think D3/4 engine ecu's starting to limit functions when it detected egts over 750, to avoid the temp rising further. This data weirdly seems to pretty guarded by the manufacturers. Engine tuners/remap people will be good people to talk to about turbo temps.
  17. First I'd be checking the tyre pressure to make sure that's fine, of the rolling distance is different between tyres that can trigger the TC. This also can be attributed to a dodgy wheel sensors thinking the wheel is spinning at different speed to its counterpart.
  18. D1's on cheap tyres are pretty nervy to drive, I've got Yokohama Geolanders on this new D2 and quite impressed with them. I was going to put bfg AT's on the D1 but she's now away for the winter. If it's a pure road based tyre you're looking for there's a good number of options, just go for a decent known brand and you won't go to far wrong.
  19. Land Rover Experience North Yorkshire is quite pleasant, I was up there last year driving a New Defender, they have a number of older vehicles too you can take out.
  20. @Jon WDifficult for me to put a value on it really, its more the case of it you want one, you want one. PM me if you're interested.
