  1. Good to see you're back and everyone is ok 👍
  2. I had to do the same thing on my 200, I chopped up a spanner to get it to fit as best I could.
  3. Have to say this is the only way I managed to sort it out on a few parts I had, flames and burnage - dont even try give it to a shot blaster initially, you'll likely get it thrown back at your head.
  4. This is really good advice in my opinion, although LR could have done a few things better, generally the way the chassis brackets are profiled is a good way to follow. A side note - I had the chance to look at MAER chassis up close at the last LRO show and they've "re-designed" pretty much every bracket and chassis fitting, a few things they'd done had a few alarm bells ringing for me because they'd deviated quite a lot from the original design, maybe with good intentions in mind (mud clearance etc.), but to me it didn't look like they'd gone in the right direction.
  5. Din to ISO adapter? Radio Adapter Radio Adapter Male to DIN ISO for Land Rover Range Rover 02-06 | eBay
  6. I've bought GDI chassis parts on ebay. I did a lot of research on parts as I'd done some chassis work for friends and they'd supplied the parts, mostly from Britpart, and as usual the quality varied from great parts, to utter rubbish. I didn't want to play that game. So settled on parts from GDI and have to say I'm pretty happy with what I've had from them.
  7. I recently replaced the wiper boxes on my 90 with the design development engineering fancy-pants ones, and one of the pro's of them is they do tend to respond a bit quicker than the previous genuine ones - helps with the splash on the windscreen problem a little.
  8. So to close this out a little. I had some time deadlines to meet so I ended up finding a 14ft tri axle ifor williams. All advice was well heeded, but long lead times (on new) and limited availability on non ifor williams stuff kinda narrowed the running. It's rough, noisey and overpriced, but solid on the road and it should hold its price well. I won't keep it forever but it will do for now I reckon. Thanks all for your contributions it helped me greatly.
  9. Thank you all for your advice, some really useful and insightful comments. My conclusion and present mission is to look for a ~16ft tri axle jobby, tri axles seem to be less available but they're out there.
  10. Looking for any insights... Looking to buy a general purpose trailer - one of the main jobs it will be taking on will include, moving some Landy's about, one particular one will be a 110. I don't want to just buy a huge car bias trailer, so was thinking about a flatbed ifor LM146 - which is 14ft x 6.5ft anyone used one before for moving a 110, technically it will fit, but not a lot of adjustment room for it... Anyone any thoughts or words of wisdom? Cheers Mav
  11. Just to update, I dont have any PCB's left all sold, however In my opinion you don't really see these fail all that often, if you do, the PCB is not an uncommon part to to find on ebay as a 2nd had part, part of the warning light assembly.
  12. Its interesting this recall action has come up, as my mate who bought a low mileage 2012 90 earlier this year, got a latter from LR in the post last week, telling him to book his truck in for getting this recall action fixed too. I just find it odd, these trucks haven't had it done already.
  13. This is a long standing recall action on the last batches of Defender. The friction welded joint on "some" axles in a batch where found to be insufficiently welded, or weak, in which the whole axle end detaches. In the early cases this could lead to the whole axle end leaving the vehicle making an extremely dangerous situation. So rather than LR recalling all the axles for replacement, they issued a "safety fix" in the event that you "could" have a separation event then these brackets "catch" the end of the axle and just stop it leaving the vehicle totally allowing you to keep control of the vehicle and bring it to a safe stop.
  14. This isnt technically correct as of I think it was late 95 into 96 the Romulus facelift also brought in the standard OBD port across all models, I have a very basic spec manual late 97 D1 with OBD and I used a Td5 Defender nanocom to re-programme some 2 button key fobs to the 10AS unit. It seems non of the 10AS controllers are encoded in any way, so from some of my experiments as long as the nanocom is opened up for a model that used the 10AS, then you can plug it into any LR vehicle with an OBD that uses a 10AS and get access for fob re-programming and basic 10AS function check and set-up.
  15. Put it in "Parkers" and get an evaluation from "we buy any car". This will give you a baseline as to what the non land rover world would value it, then tweet it usually up a little. I've been keeping half an eye on price of D2's recently and they seem to have taken the place of D1's you can pick up a lot of car for not a lot of cash.
  16. I think they're great trucks, not owned one myself, but driven plenty, super capable on and off road. Older ones do seem to have some rust issues and require weld repair, and then there's the fuel bill, especially auto's which I think most of the later ones are. Personally I've been driving my D1 300tdi a lot recently and its such a nice vehicle to drive, but not all that refined, but you can get some of the highest spec Td5 D2's now for relative peanuts, you can get a lot of car for your money, a bit of a different league to a D3.
  17. @simonr thanks for popping over for a chat, next time we plan a little better and bring chairs and beer! Really enjoyed the show myself too, great site, much nicer than previous in my opinion, I'm sure they'll be some learning points, but it was really well attended and I'd definitely be going back. Funny as I spent a good bit of time looking at the chassis manufacturers, good to see a bit of competition in this area.
  18. Ahhh I was on the Camel stand next to the main entrance and we watched you come in, nice truck, very smart
  19. One of the rare occasions I make an effort to visit a show, but I'll be at the LRO show this year, hanging around the Camel Trophy Owners club stand, I'll be in the Blue Disco 1 which will be mostly likely sulking at the back of the stand not to detract from the sandglow ones. Come say high if you're passing, vice versa, post up if you're going. Cheers Mav (Chris)
  20. This is interesting as I put my 97 Discovery 1 in the MOT checker and that too has an outstanding recall. Nice reminder I'll ring LR now. LR said mine was listed as "A488 fuse steering column harness" the person on the service desk couldn't give me any more info other than that.
  21. I bought a heap of them from bearmach clearance a few years ago, postage is fine but it will be sometime next week I'll be able to get access to look them out.
  22. I've got a box of new ones of those somewhere in my storage, how quickly do you need it?
  23. As Doorknob says is the bracket allowed to fully engage with the flat of the bulkhead at the top, if there's a new spongy gasket sometime it takes a bit to compress it. Have you tried loosening all the bolts to the clamp etc and put all the bolts in and tighten in a different sequence?
