  1. The rot in the rearfloor, just before removal. Not that bad actually, it was kind of bad 6 years ago, and I had done nothing with the floor since... The rear roof is gone, as well as the upper side panel, and the rear door (and bumper). Building the rear of the roof, using rear corners from the spare part car, and parts of the roof that was cut away. Using the rear roof as the back of the cabin, with the sunroof as the rear window Building a case for batteries just in front of the rear wheels The cab body almost done Ready to cut Testing of new rear X-member, and deciding how much to cut away. That's how far I've made it by yesterday. Now I have to decide on how to do the rear corners. I'm going to put some tail lights from bolt-on-bits back there, and hope it will klind of look like the red one from long langer not sure if I will bent the corners in a sharp 90 degree edge, or if I should should bend it in 2x45degrees.
  2. We had some visitors from Denmark who came up to drive in the snow, and I had to put things a bit on hold, cause I wanted the have my car that weekend. My front yard just before I started modifications: The green closest to the camera, is for spare parts, I've taken the axels, sold both the gearboxes, and is going to use the 300tdi in my car. Then the silver one is the one I sold in the beginning of January, this picture was taken in late february, and the new owner has not collected the car yet. I think it's still in the barn where I put it a few days after the picture was taken. Then in the back, there is the family daily driver, a 2000 D2 Td5. And in the front of the family car, my daily driver/toy car. And a small wooden sailboat, and a trailer that is not visible.
  3. Maybe it's about time to present my project. I bought a rather standard looking 1990 Discovery with a 200tdi in 2009. Here is a picture from the sales add It was bought to have an extra veichle, to tow some sailing dingys and such. And we did. But then the kids went from small dinghys to larger boats. Then I got the taste for some offroading. We went to Poland to participate in the Pomerania resque Rally which is organized twice a year. We (me and my neighbour) has been there 4 times, each time in the spring. First time in 2011 Small changes to the car each year. Testing winch: That was last year. When we got back I started on the rot in the footwell. Actually it was simple to remove the rot, it was enough to remove the carpent and the nois insulation Finally done with most of the rot in the front, almost ready for MOT There has been some rot in the back of the car as well (big surprise), but I've been putting that job on hold for "some years". I had seen the Cheviot4x4 Discovery pickup, and later the pickups from LongRanger, and was thinking of doing something similar. To get to keep the car as a daily driver, I wanted to have things done right, so that means apply, and get some approval for the authorities. But I needed to fix the footwells first. I didn't want to loose my license plates just because I had applied for an approval to modify my car. And we wanted to have the car ready for the Yearly trip to Poland. But in November I was done with the sills, and the footwells, Then I had to get my "new" Disco2 ready and approved. In December, the Disco2, was approved, and I could concentrate on my toy again. I sent the application just before Christmas last year. By the end of January, I roused the application. Got the answer a few days later, and I got the modification preapproved. But I had to turn in the license plates, and then they would do a mid-build inspection, and when everything was finally approved, I would get the license plates back. Then the question was, should I start with the modification right away, or should i wait until after our trip to poland this year. Then there is summer, and then ...
  4. Looks like there will be a meeting tomorrow, even if its holiday time. Starts at 19:00, not. Sure if i can make it, since i'm busy making a sailboat ready for/together with my son in which he wil live the next 5 year.
  5. Winter tyres depends on your driving. I've drivern 30-50000 km per year since I got my Disco in 2009, mostly on dedicated winter tyres. When I needed another set on my wife's RRC, I ordered another one. Now I've got 2 Disco, one -90 200tdi, and my wifes -98 300 tdi, I run on some Geolandar (dont remember the model now), and use them from late october/november and until april -may. I'm a bit lazy, and changes tires a bit top late, but since they are without studs, it's not a big problem. I would not run on MT or AT on a family car. My neighbour has used MT all year on his Defender(s), and has put studs in some of them. I would recommend buying winter tires in Norway, even if they are a bit pricey.
  6. Yes, there is. We have an monthly meeting in KrSand, last monday of the month, but not in July, since it's vacation time. normally we start around 7pm. Here is a link to google map with driving directions: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/58.3401449,8.564423/58.1514219,8.033093/@58.2459089,8.1547418,11z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m4!4m3!1m0!1m0!3e0 I myself live in Grimstad, we are 3 neighbours driving different LR-products (6 out of 8 registered cars in our housholds are LR)
  7. We've got a TD5 with a turbo that sometimes fails. I've not investigated that much time on it myself, it's my co-pilots truck. Now he's got a variable turbo from a Puma-engine that's availible. Is it possible to use that one on a TD5, and would it help ?
  8. I had to replace the P-gasket on the family car a couple of weeks ago, Had no gasket on stock, so I had to use silicon gasket. As soon as I'm done with my own car, and has that one going, I need to do the job once again, replacing with proper steel gasket. Having almost everything out already, I would have changed it. Just clean properly before you use the new steel gasket (or 2 gaskets out of paper).
  9. Have you tried using allbrit.de ? Front/rear flange maybe ? http://www.allbrit.de/UNI.cfm?PAGE=753979&SPRACHE=EN
  10. OK, he has now sourced another pair of 110 axles, not sure if the rear on that one is Rover or Salisbury, but as they're from another 110, they should be ok.
  11. Could you please explain to a not-native-english-speaker ? what does that mean ?
  12. I've got a friend with a 110 with a rather competitive drivetrain, and a 90 with more stock drivetrain. Both the 110 and the 90 is MY 2000. The 110 has ARB front and rear reinforced stub axles, CV junction, propshafts and stuff. The rear of the 110 is salisbury Now he is thinking if he should move interchange the drivetrains, building the 90 as a competition truck, and the 110 as a family car. Has anyone done this, put a salisbury rear axle on a 90 ? And will the rover rear axle from the 90 do on a 110 ?
  13. What about the clutch fluid ? I've noticed that when there is little clutch fluid, It's harder to get from first to second gear. Also my kids have had some problems when they have been out learning to drive to cluct propperly, and then they get the same problem.
  14. Anyone have more info about the Roll Cage requirement, as what I find on CT website only says that a Roll Cage is mandatory, not that it needs to be serial production. Thinking of preparing my Discovery top do this event, nut sure yet if it will end up as a flat bed or a pickup, but plan is definitly to shorten the rear (bobtail it. ) Not sure if it's possible to find a serial production for a Discovery pickup
  15. Don't find anything about this on the website, what I find is: You mentioned a registration form that maybe is removed now that the registration (and race) is over for this year. Do you have a copy of it ?
  16. Looks like you should have part number SEE500140 That is pistons and seals, also known as repair kit. Actually, you the original repair kit was STC1279, but according to http://www.brit-car.co.uk/search.php?xSearch=stc1279, it's replaced by SEE500140
  17. Here is how my right hand front shaft looked after ~10 hours in 35 Pomerania this spring. This was the rest that was in the TrueTrack. I drove ~1500 km with the shaft and the little piece in place before i took things appart
  18. Maybe I should post my own, since I'm in the process of fitting a new 101plus, with a 4mm "wheel probe". I will be fitting the wheel probe to the front output shaft of the transfer case. This is a closeup of my bracket: This is how it will be mounted Here is an old 0,5mm probe, but you get the point. Dont you need a splitter ?
  19. I've built a bagage divider which unfolds as a double bed This is the prototype: I've now rebuilt it, using thicker materials. This is how it looks in the woods of Poland during 33rd Pomerania last year, ready to sleep.
  20. According to this pdf from the Danish Land Rover club website, it should be 358mm from groun on RangeRover (Classic?) and Discovery (1?) It's a document taht is used to get 3500kg approved max tow weigth.
  21. I just bought a 300 tdi auto , and now the first filling show 11.1l/100km which is like 25.44 mpg. Runs on 265/70-16 winter tires.
  22. I guess it's kind of like giving the tires a good wash, and then let them dry. Instead of water and soap, I guess this spray do something similar. It also helps winter tires, as these also gets full of dirt.
  23. Which Disco version ar you thinking of: Take a look here at Allbrit.de
  24. I'm running Detroit Locker in the back, and TrueTrac in the Front. The DL and TT is fit and forget. My car was a bit understeered at first after I installed DL and TT, but after I changed some bushes, it helped a lot.
